  1. I don’t care when they have events, I just think your choice of words was poor. If the word suffer isn’t what you meant, use a different word. A single word isn’t a figure of speech. A phrase is a figure of speech. You appear to be arguing that the word you actually used isn’t the word you meant. Words matter.
  2. You stopped just short. Go back and look at that post again. The next thing he says after the part you quoted is this, which I find disappointing: ”no, I don’t work weekends, but I would like the people that don’t work weekends to suffer a little since other people do have to work weekends. I feel bad for those guys.”
  3. The problem is maps do spawn within player structures, unless this is a super recent change that wasn’t patch noted for some reason.
  4. This might be worth bringing to @Jatheish's attention.
  5. The most likely explanation for this is observation bias. The despawning is likely not occurring only with level 30 animals, it is likely occurring with a broad spectrum of animals, but you notice it *because* you're focused on level 30 animals. This isn't to say that there isn't a bug that is causing despawning more frequently than it should (some despawning is normal), just that it's most likely you're noticing it in the particular part of the population you're focused on (level 30's).
  6. Sounds like that island was being obstinate and unreasonable. We all need a siesta once in a while.
  7. It’s literally already been posted to this thread. Jat said they are working on some things and it will be quieter than usual from their end while they do so.
  8. Okay hold on. When Dollie says they want to cut time spent on tames and creatures by 80%, I think you may be misunderstanding her or taking her comments out of context. She means development time spent on tames and creatures. You may not like this because you enjoy tames and creatures, but I've been here since day one, and I'm here to tell you one of the most consistent and valid criticisms of Atlas, posted repeatedly by many different posters during that time has been some version of "Ark is about tames. We don't want more crittters. This is supposed to be a pirate game. Give us ships and other pirate stuff, we could care less about more tames. If people wanna do tames they can go play Ark." As someone who can take or leave tames, I'm of the opinion that the overemphasis on creatures and tames to the detriment of time spent developing the on the water part of Atlas's content is a significant contributing factor to Atlas's poor performance to date. You may like tames, you may love breeding them, but this game is not supposed to be tame focused and wasn't promoted that way. So going back to Dollie's comments, her point is that they have listened to a majority of the players expressing that they don't want the game to be tame focused. If you like taming and breeding, nothing is stopping you from continuing to pursue it. She meant they want to shift development time and focus away from tames because they realize that for Atlas that has been a mistake. Most players are not here complaining there aren't enough tames and they want more, they are here complaining there's not enough sailing based content like ships, and they want more of that. Saying "They don't care what we enjoy they know better" is substituting your own personal preferences for what the majority have expressed and unfairly paints the devs as going against overall player wishes. Focusing less on tames might not make you happy, but it IS being responsive to what a majority have said they would prefer.
  9. I oppose banning Christmas turkey ship lanterns. I think they would be a great addition. Devs, make it happen. Chop chop.
  10. In advertisements that involve food what is in the picture is not even the best example of what you might get, it typically isn’t the actual thing you think it is. For example the “milk” in breakfast cereal commercials isn’t milk at all but slightly thinned glue, because it looks better.
  11. They do? Never heard this. How did you figure this out? Also that’s kinda cool.
  12. No I’m pretty sure this is one of those things where ignorance is bliss.
  13. Finding this out was one of my earliest disappointments with Atlas. Huge mesas you can’t build on....yaaaaaaaay.
  14. I think the overall problem of how badly offense outclasses defense in this game is a fundamental design problem in a number of respects for pvp.
  15. Entirely possible. I think I read at one point that ISO is a mother with small children. I have no idea if it’s true or not but it’s the sort of thing that could lead to the sort of thing you suggested when someone isn’t on the payroll and is behind. Actually I hope they paid her for all that work but who knows? The point is the same.
  16. No one expects the Spanish Inquisition.
  17. I refused to do breeding in Ark because I just am never gonna value a game over healthy sleep patterns. Atlas didn’t change that.
  18. One of the best ways to enjoy a game you love but have done everything in is to help somebody new do them for the first time.
  19. The heart Atlas doesn't have should be piracy. It's supposed to be a pirate/fantasy game. Based on posts here and conversations ingame, about 80 to 90% of the folks who were interested in Atlas were interested in being pirates. Some hated the fantasy part, some were cool with it, but everyone wants to be a pirate. What's the defining act of piracy? Attacking merchant shipping and making off with loot. Can you do this in Atlas, a supposedly pirate oriented game? No. That is the heart that is missing. Also, great post.
  20. I want ur stuffz. This sounds insane to me.
  21. I see where you're coming from. My general rule of thumb is that if it takes boosted gather rates for me to enjoy a game, I find that's a good indicator I might want to step back and ask myself if I'm really enjoying that game or just going through the motions. As always, ymmv.
