  1. I like the WPE but I think it would be a better system that when you subdue an encampment the village and occupants become your subjects, instead of leaving just empty buildings. Cos at the moment the only thing they are good for is target practice, what is there really to gain by beating them? And maybe you could become the landlord and the npc's give you so many coins per day in taxes.
  2. I don't think all the negativity and toxicity was deserved either, I also play atlas everyday and I still enjoy it. And I play pc and xbox too.
  3. Well I was lev 70 plus and if I hadn't made some adjustments I doubt I would have done it , And it was a mudda tukka of a battle, Take plenty of ammo and two or three of every weapon and you might just make it. All the best and good bossin to yer. Don't forget to post when you've done it eh. Btw to get the powerstone you need to go underwater where the mermaids are anyway.
  4. One of my favourite franchises over the years has been pirates of the caribbean, I'm pyrate nuts anyway, got the clothing the gun, the bad breath. But anyway I get where the magic idea is going, it's just to make the game more fun. I personally think tarot is the wrong type of magic. Like I say sorcery and necromancy would fit in with the game better imo.
  5. Don't worry I don't think you've offended anybody, you were just quoting stuff after all.
  6. Actually it is a myth that all romany's practise tarot reading and divination. I have known many gypsies who are of romany descent and I've yet to meet any that read tea leaves or crystal balls or tarot.Although they do try to sell me lucky heather from time to time. Even the word gypsy is geographically wrong, as you point out. It was henry 8th who called them gypsies because he mistakingly thought they came from egypt. Which is probably how the myth of divination came into romany life in the first place. All that aside I don't think anyone who suggested tarot was mentally making a link to anybody or nation. I think they just thought it was a good idea. I still think though for a pirate game that necromancy or sorcery make more sense, especially for pvp.
  7. I take it you are on the bottom left island on the map with all the powerstones, if so I think that they pull you into the water there near the harbour where one of the powerstones are. It is a pain but it does get you near the right place. im lev 70 with high stats and they pulled me in, took a while but they managed it. Also to get the sub on blackwood you have to defeat the snake boss after collecting the powerstones, and he's one mean mudda tukka. You might wanna adjust your sliders if you are gonna solo it. And if you put railings round your wheel it could mess up your FOV while sailing.
  8. Yeh but lets be honest if someone suggested introducing a prayer option so you could ask for the grace of god while you are sailing you'd say they were out of their darn tree. Well technically occult is also a religion so I do get peoples points of view, However this is an mmo run by people with their own ethical and moral standings so what they do is up to them and to keep playing you should accept this fact anyway. I just think other things would be better for the game and i'd rather they spent their time on something else. But like I say it's not my game, so I can only suggest.
  9. they musta changed this cos I used to have a treasure map spawn in the middle of a room underneath a roof square.
  10. Yeh I agree with you there I don't think it would kill 50% of the player base at all, I mean look how popular magic based mmo's are.But if you are gonna introduce magic to the game then it should be the full hog and make a decent addition to the game. Anyway as a solo player I doubt I'd be able to use it , they'd prob have it dungeon locked behind 100 giant crabs lev 200 or something. And then each spell would prob cost 100 mythos just to use once. Maybe i'm just being too optimistic though.
  11. Actually I can tell you from first hand experience that sailors old and new are very superstitious, and wouldn't go near anything occulty. A skipper on a fishing trip once threatened to throw me overboard for whistling! I thought he was joking but he genuinely believed you could whistle up a storm! I kid you not. Anyway the realism card people keep playing is pointless now as everyone seems inclined to pick what's pyraty and what isn't by how much they personally want something in the game. As for predicting cyclones please tell me how they could adapt the game to do that for hundreds of players at the same time in different regions? I personally don't care what they add but I'd rather it was a benefit to my gameplay. Or they could spend the time better sorting out bugs.
  12. The only magic I can see working in this game is either necromancy, ie being able to raise undead npc's. Or conjuring( also known as sorcery), ie conjure up storms, tidal waves etc.
  13. Well technically speaking tarot is only used for fortune telling, not sure how useful that will be in a pyrate game.
  14. It's funny though a few of us have asked for an airship which was in the original version of atlas, and people say it isn't pyraty and we should keep this game authentic. Then we get a submarine, torpedoes, giant crabs, and now magic! So could anyone please explain again why we shouldn't have an airship?
  15. Tbh most games do supply a map that registers landmarks as you discover them. This map is prob true to the old 16th century sailing maps that were blank sheets of vellum and you had to fill them in yourself. While I don't expect gps, I shouldn't really have to draw my own map!
  16. There are many inaccuracies for sure but actually most real pyrates were small time and had sloops or schooners or small brigs, edward teach was unusual in the fact that he had a large ship, and other pyrate ships working with him, so he had a fleet. Also the queen annes revenge was originally a french merchant trader/slaver, and even as queen annes revenge only had about 40 cannons. I do agree though that i'd prefer a bit more realism with the ships we have.
  17. yeh the three speed I do most still too damn slow for me, most of the time I end up using the schooner. I know sometimes if you use a combo of large and medium or medium and small for ships you can get better speeds, but oh well it's still a nice ship if you play solo.
  18. Hey people has anyone actually found a decent sail combo to get the brig to go faster, I've tried the usual and it's still like a floating brick.
  19. In single player i'm lev 70+ my fortitude is mammoth high, but my vits still seem to decrease at the same rate. And I've put all the points into the skill tree for it too.
  20. Yeh I agree about the handling sails although I do two speed and one handling and ten cannons for weight. , I found with the brig, going too weighty can really slow it down so the armour is essential.
  21. Actually tbh I also bought the xbox version and it wasn't cheap compared to what I paid on the pc. But to be fair we did a lotta the testing over the last 10 months on pc so I did expect it to be a bit dearer on xbox. Besides all that sometimes you need to give games like atlas a bit of time, it's not a five minute hack n slash or shoot'emup. I say go back to it and give it a go, maybe try single player or something.
  22. Yeh same here it's to do with the stupid FOV that we are stuck with I think, I really hate playing a character with no feet. I wish they would sort it out, you can adjust it in other games of this type on xbox.
  23. I dont know why but the map markers only ever worked once for me, I can't even find a way to do it yet on the xbox.
  24. Yeh the other thing about atlas and games like it is you have to enjoy the long haul, I didn't want another game I could complete in 30 hours. I've prob put over 500 and more hours into this game now and i'll still keep playing. And they are improving it too.
  25. I think freeport locations should be marked on the map, especially after discovery. It feels very dated now having to draw a physical map in pen and make a note of locations myself.
