You are right Ivan..... not everything has to be a fight.... we were playing peacefully in the area we chose to claim as our base.... William whom we did not know existed runs up and starts threatening my crew mate with blocking our ships (which he has admitted doing 2 times now (which behavior is also against the TOS)).... We were IN THE WRONG for retaliating by foundation spamming his building.... That is why we quickly removed them.... I am not being sarcastic when I say that if you are reading a construction element with my name on it you are in my base.....That is how I feel about it.... Answer me this.... A ticket was submitted.... Devs investigated (they certainly came and talked to me avatar to avatar).... I am not banned and my BASE has not been deleted..... now tell me again what I am doing wrong ?.... This game has another year and a half of development left to go.... You think there is no possibility of another claim system being implemented?.... It is my belief that the majority of PVE wants the old system back with the exception of water flags.... and a limit of the number of flags you can place.... 5 flags per being what I heard the most.... The way I see it my crew mate and I each have 2 flags left for tameing pens.... I am done with you people.... I will respond no more.... All you haters in this thread are dismissed....

MC-RANGER.... Guess what..... that ticket WILLIAM was talking about involved me..... Dev came and talked to me last night..... placing gates/pillars inside WILLIAM’s base is definitely a no no..... I had already removed them from WILLIAM’s base before his visit.... We talked about that..... we also talked about my foundation spam ( that I am turning into slightly more attractive pillars).... he in fact used the term excessive.... after I explained to him that we occupy an area equal to about 3 flags each in the old system I “think” (not wanting to say I know for sure what anyone is thinking) he was more understanding to my cause.... Anyway..... By the end of the conversation I was told not to block access to the beaches, treasure maps, etc..... He also told me that what I have claimed (with foundations ) is acceptable but that it being lawless, I should learn to play nice with others.... what hypocrites like WILLIAM (who uses closed gates to signify his area, blocking people from treasure maps) does not understand is that the area I pillar IS my base.... I just don’t block treasure hunters from completing maps on my base like some of you....

William.... I will say this about you.... what you stated is for the most part accurate.... with the exception of communication before this incident.... (unless you are talking about your snarky little billboard).... when you confronted my guildmate yesterday was the first “real” communication we have had.... As far as pillar spam goes, that IS the new claim system until take another shot at the claim mechanics.... that’s just the way it is.... we “claimed” an area about as large as our old area under the old system.... about 4 flags.... BTW, was your company one of the top flag spammers in the old system ?.... We have no intention of claiming any more than we have now.... However, the second sentence out of your mouth was a threat to block our ships if we didn’t play the game as you would have us play..... talking all tough and whatever.... so when we showed you that you should not threaten people with an action without protecting yourself from retaliation what did you do ?.... went crying to the devs apparently... then you come hear and act tough guy again.... saying if the devs don’t take care of it you will yourself.... well jump froggy.... But I give you fair warning..... I know the mechanics of this game.... I know where your claimed island is..... you started this with your threats..... unless the devs bail you out you can’t win this.... here is what I will do.... you remove your snarky sign and apologize to my crew mate that you threatened and I will pull back to our original modest 4 flag sized base and let bygones be bygones..... your call.....

Quit scrolling after 20 pages of Chinese higher education spam.... i have no idea how many pages it goes on for but damn...... golden egg to whoever has the patience to count how many....

You guys are looking at this all wrong.... this isn’t spam you are seeing.... it is the defacto flag system.... until the go back to the old mechanic and limit the number of flags players get, THIS is the workaround.... yes a very few people spammed more than they need but that was also true of the old claim system.... fact is that is why they changed it..... because a few people placed thousand flags.... I found a place on lawless and placed stone pillars (less ugly than foundations) in an area equal to the area is 2 of the old claim flags.... i don’t feel this is an unreasonable workaround until the sort their claim system out because the current one does not work or we would not be having this discussion.....

Can’t speak for PVP, but for PVE pillar spam IS the new flag system.... until they change the system to something like the original flag system with limits on the number of flags you can have for example, pillars are the new system and there is nothing the devs can do to change that meta....

Personally..... I’m still in the 3 flags per player camp..... anything built outside your flags has a 12 hr decay timer..... poof, no refresh.... (for 1 time taming pens).....

We did try fire arrows once.... The boss does seem slow enough to kite around some.... do you use fire or regular arrows ?.... It also seemed that the only time we had problems with a defender disappearing on us was on spire maps....

No.... they need to make structures on land have the same no build radius as water structures.... that would put an end to the ugly thatch foundation spam in lawless.... Drop 3 stone pillars and you can then build your base without worry that a random griefer can build a taming pen 4 strides from your front door.....

My company (2 people) went out to do a load of treasure maps this weekend.... Of course we used tames when we could.... We did not want to forgo the maps that spawned on top of the spires so we took armor, climbing picks ect..... We opened the fights throwing a couple of grenades then engaged the boss with melee..... sometimes we died but we respawned and eventually finished the job.... We used swords, swords and shields, 2h maces, pikes.... while each method eventually worked, none seemed to work better than the other.... Anyone have any tips or strategies they would be willing to share on how they handle treasure maps when they cannot use a tame ?...

Think I might make a character on the PvP server.... will make a base that is nothing but a solid mass of stone foundations 10x10x3 with a 1x1 room in the middle that contains nothing but a sign saying “you win” on it....

I could get behind a factions server....

Captain Jack Shadow has an excellent point.... I remember way back to Ultima Online.... you could place a vendor on the porch of your house.... people would place their house key on their vendor for thousands of gold.... if you wanted to buy their key (and everything in their house for that, go ahead).... people did this so they would not be killed and have their house key looted.... Back then you did not really have game forums like you do now where devs can disseminate information to the players.... I did see where to combat this exploit that they were going to make all keys on vendors cost the same as a blank key.... I took the day off when that went down and bought myself 14 house keys for 3 copper each..... took me over 8 hours to loot all those houses.... had to purchase 3 more small houses just to hold all the stuff.... it was a good day.... thanks Captain Jack for reminding me of that....

I think people use them as temporary taming pens for larger animals....

Ok, that makes sense.... if you drop stuff fast enough it does look like popcorn being made.... its also what I do at the dinner table with my peas....
