  1. My main complaint is with how useless the food system is as a whole. The other people in my company keep demolishing the grills and mess tables to make room for other things. None of them eat or drink, they just die and re-spawn every 10 or 15 minutes. I hate this and I continue to cook, but it truly is a waste of time. They get far more done in the same time as me since I am taking the time to gather, hunt, and cook instead of just dying and re-spawning like they do.
  2. The taxation is a really cool idea to incentivize the large companies to share the land, and in many cases, they will defend that land. I would be more than happy to pay taxes on some land, but unfortunately I haven't really seen any large companies on pvp that are willing to let anyone live on their massive vacant claims. Another problem on pvp is that when your landlord loses their claim, the new landlord simply locks the claim and takes over your home forcing you to move. Great idea, but definitely needs some balancing and tweaks to be effective.
  3. For those of us who play in small companies and have never been here before...where is the cave entrance?
  4. Guys, the best thing to do is spawn at the nearest Freeport to each Golden Age Ruin region, build a ramshackle sloop and put a bed on it. Once you sail it and anchor it near the cave somewhere, you can spawn wherever you need to. The difficult part will be finding enough people to run down to it once things calm down.
  5. Hopefully people will stick around...I like the idea of the aging system, but this is just a terrible route to take on it. The whole breeding and assume the identity of NPC offspring idea sounds really cool and is something you likely won't have to sail halfway across the map with an entire crew of friends to achieve. There are just too many of us that play in smaller groups, and this yet again gives the giant companies another leg up on us small guys.
  6. Can you disable the last update until things are fixed please...this is terrible.
  7. This must be a bug, because I seriously doubt the devs would intentionally introduce a mechanic that would force the solo and small company players to go to one single place on the map where the large companies can simply camp something everyone needs? At 92 years old, our small company has just launched our second schooner, we've never even laid the hull of a brig, we've never even seen a gem in game, never been more than a few regions away from our lawless area as we are usually sunk within a few tiles, and now we have to hunt the map for something with everyone else? Jeebus, for us it would be easier just to re-roll and start a new character!
  8. WHY!? Devs, you do realize that some of us are in small groups or are solo, right? Are we supposed to just re-roll every month?
  9. Well, I finally was able to hire a couple crew. It appears as though the NPC works intermittently. I tried to hire crew from the NPC and nothing worked. I went and cut some wood for repairs and on the way back to the ship I tried again and was able to hire one crew member, but no more. I went and cut some more wood and on the way back I was able to hire two crew before the NPC quit working again. Either the NPC only allows you to hire during certain times of day, or it just works intermittently and you have to keep trying.
  10. Can anyone hire crew at Freeports since the last patch or two? We only have one crew member at the moment (after a rough couple days of losing ships) and cannot hire any new crew at any Freeport?
  11. Yeah, maybe they used something else while we were dead, but they still had to turn around and obviously we were out for over a minute with the pvp timer. Still though, they clearly won the battle by an overwhelming margin.
  12. You wanna know how powerful greek fire is? We had a schooner with 12 medium cannons and two large cannons, all crew in flak armor, upgraded structure pieces, archers with fire arrows in the crows nest, etc. We were attacked by a stripped down schooner with 3 medium cannons (that they didn't even use) and one swivel gun...on the first pass, the greek fire killed almost all of my crew and all players including those below deck. We weren't too worried at first because the remaining crew were still firing, the ship had sailed past us as we made a sharp turn and they would have to turn around and come back for the next pass, and it was only one swivel gun, right? When we re-spawned at our beds, our ship was almost completely under water already and sank within seconds. The other ship looked to be in perfect health still, and they simply sailed away. So, if you have one swivel gun and just a few crew members on an unloaded ship with speed sails, you can sink ships with loads of crew and tons of firepower. Yeah I think it needs to be re-balanced, or what is the point of all this fancy stuff when a few sloops with swivel guns can sink the baddest galleons?
  13. I want to see Atlas flourish just like most of you, but the numbers are worrisome as they continue to decline. New players pay the bills and fund new development, so to say screw the solo players and the small companies and suck it up means to limit Atlas' customer base and thus its future funding. Be realistic people, read the forums and look at how many people are complaining. This game is great for large groups, but is even worse than Ark for small groups or solo players looking to play an MMO. Atlas needs some real balancing if it wants to keep attracting new players and fund the future development we are all hoping for. Just suggesting that we have an open mind about the requests and complaints about the current player base and state of the game.
  14. Thanks for the reply guys. Yeah I understand the protection issue, I just don't want to pay taxes to someone who is just gonna watch someone wreck us without lifting a finger. I already have that now with land in a lawless region.
  15. I was in BLDX on Ark...anyone who thinks BLDX has any integrity or that they don't cheat is either ignorant or complicit.
  16. Do any of the larger companies here even plan on using the new claim system to allow tenants on their land? I haven't met anyone yet who is considering using it? Hopefully the devs will devise a way to force large companies to lose more of their land if their don't use the system. The current system is most definitely broken.
  17. We're a small company of mature players looking for somewhere to build on a large companies claim in exchange for taxes once the new claim system goes live. We don't need much room, but are looking for a company that is powerful enough to protect the tenants living on their claims, especially when we're offline. We aren't interested in companies who are going to demand we let them dig through our stuff, or companies with alot of young guys in command...we just don't like drama. If your company wants the tax benefits from mature players living on one of your claims, send me a PM. Thanks!
  18. I'm not complaining about pvp, I enjoy pvp. I do not however enjoy player versus TWO HUNDRED F'ING NAKED ZERGS CHASING ME DOWN THE BEACH...lol. I am simply suggesting that the devs find some sort of balance so that the thousands of players that don't want to join mega companies can enjoy the game. Too much protection ruins it too, so I totally understand where you're coming from. I just remember how so much of the enjoyment of Ark was lost after a couple years due to the mega tribes and alliances, I am just hoping that Atlas doesn't suffer the same fate. I think that most of us here aren't looking for another Rust...we like to pvp but want something more meaningful.
  19. For those unaware of where this game is headed, ask any long term Eve player about what happened when the mega alliances emerged in Eve. Solo pvp all but disappeared, and everyone is forced to join one of the mega corporations if you ever even dream of leaving the PVE protected areas. Where is the balance in Atlas? Every night I log in, build a sloop, sail to one place to try and get sap or crystal or something that isn't accessible in my lawless zone, sail home and log out for the night. The next night, I log in, ship sunk by the same people as the night before, and I start all over. Some nights I am attacked at sea, and its at least fun to try and defend by myself although I am always raped by large groups of people, but I'm not even complaining about that. Something as simple as making smaller ships faster than the large ships would solve the unbalanced griefing at sea. I would like to see a way for solo players or smaller tribes to defend their assets while offline. At least in Eve, you can dock your ship in a station while offline or just log out in a protected zone without having to log in before work the next morning to repair your ship before going to work. Maybe disable decay on ships in Freeports if the ships have no defenses or something, anything...it just ruins the game for many of us who are not interested in joining a mega company. I enjoy the game, but many of my friends have already quit playing due to the over-the-top griefing every day.
