I am enjoying the game. I love building and sailing ships. But yeah...it's not even close to EVE. I've lost ships in EVE due to being reckless or not paying attention to who was in the area, but I never lost one just from being offline. And don't get me started on the naked geriatric pilgrimage. The resource allocation looks like they are trying to encourage ship transport, but it isn't fully baked yet. It is still very early EA, but they have a long way to go to capture the spirit of EVE, if that is what they are going for. It is very ARK, which is fine, but yeah - they shouldn't compare it to EVE then.

I haven't figured out any of the weather related commands. I tried some from Ark, but they didn't work. If anyone knows the weather commands, I'd like to know.

Does sailing the world grids wrap around? For example, can you sail from A to O and O to A? If so, does this work with custom maps also?

Yes, this is happening again. I watched a couple of storms last night roll in and 'attack' each of my anchored shipped parked in shallow water near the shore. This was broken recently.

Yeah...pillars were abused in many ways in Ark. Not surprised to see it resurface in new ways.

I watched the video. He hit a shallow sandbar, which caused catastrophic damage to his hull. Unfortunately, this is a hazard of boats; many RL boats in the Caribbean sunk this way. He should take this as a lesson learned when he makes the next ship. He had the right idea about having spare hull pieces, but unfortunately, repairing when your ship is already beached is hard to recover.

I don't disagree with the boat protection, but having people get stuck is sloppy. You should be bounced off.

Totally agree with this. We did buy it at a discount, so put it away, play something else, then come back to it after they've made more changes.

Kudos to you then. The rate at which the bow breaks with the fire arrow didn't work out so great with me. My buddy and I were hunting treasure and it broke too rapidly. Can't speak for pvp, but for mobs the fire arrows do less damage than normal arrows. I've abandoned fire arrows for pve mobs.

Have you tried the fire arrow recently? Bow works fine with normal arrows. Try it with normal arrow versus fire arrow.

Actually, I think the game has a lot of promise, and there are a lot of things I like about it. I want them to keep working on it. I disagree with their directional choices, and well, if need be, there are mods for that. I wouldn't go so far as to throw barbs at them. There is a reason why we all bought the game in EA to begin with. They were providing us with something we wanted to play conceptually.

Water is key for most, except crocs. Congrats! The fire arrows were nerfed too much. My opinion. If that's complaining, so be it. Anyway, please do show us the legit way. Popcorn is still here for the sharing.

Sure, great. When they have alphas down to a reasonably rare level. Show us your vids of how your 50 peeps kill an alpha tiger. I await with buttered popcorn.

Yeah, the flame arrow nerf is awful. With bow breakage, and the nerf, alphas are invincible again.

Contrary: I have the full server grid available to me. Having all 15x15 up all the time is unnecessary. I plot a course, and spin up the grid nodes I need. However, it is true there isn't the number of players. Given that I can roam the entire maps without ship docks or other blockades in the way, I don't see this as a bad thing. However However, they need to face up to the consequences. Official is unplayable for me.

We just play a private password locked server with a small group of friends. We're enjoying ship building and base building in a sandbox. We've learned a lot about ship building, and hunting SOD. If it wasn't for unofficial, we wouldn't be playing at all right now. We haven't really touched the official servers since the issues with the claims, ship sinking exploits, and now the fountain fiasco. We want to join official for larger scale content like ship to ship battles especially, but we know we would just be frustrated and not having fun. We're having fun on our private unofficial.

The talk about the proposed alternatives to fountain with breeding makes me cringe. Last thing I will play is a female character in game if they introduce this. No way I want to play an Atlas dating app game so that we can keep our stats. :gag:

I've been reading about the difficulties with lag and server disconnects for people trying to get to the fountain. They finally get to it, then they got rolled back... Ouch.

This guy made an app that will let you sail the whole map with one computer. You basically open/close server grids on the fly. Not sure how it would work with a hosted server like Nitrado, but check it out:

Yeah, I get it. And honestly, I want official not to be a clustf*. My friend and I want to join a cool PVP company so we can try out some of the other content that isn't possible for us to do 2 man. But the game isn't there yet. We're not going to play official right now because it will frustrate us. We're watching and waiting.

No conspiracy theory. I'm not paying for any server. It's running on a home system, and I can sail to or startup any grid I want. There's tons of info in the dedicated server forums, and lots of hundreds of others servers running right now. Doesn't sound like this is for you, which is totally cool. I recommend others to check it out. There are plenty of servers running with great people. I don't know where this damage control insider thing came from - lol. If you've read my other posts, you'd know I ain't defending anything they are doing on official...which is why I'm on unofficial. Because I fundamentally want to play the game, but I dislike their game direction.

Well, I am someone. After getting frustrated with the issues on official, I setup my own private server so my friend and I could continue to play while they worked out these issues. We would hop onto official from time to time to see what has changed, but it's still a mess. I have access to the entire world map.
