  1. Check your firing groups. They replace your hot bar and have to be purple for them to be selected. At the bottom of each box is a number for how many cannons are each group. You can set each cannon individually to a group.
  2. If you can’t find the owners, that may require taking a screenshot of how it’s blocking you as well as a Screenshot showing the details of who owns the ship and it’s name and submitting a ticket. It’s possible that it’s just somebody that parked quickly during a storm and hasn’t been back on.
  3. It’s not an issue of medium cannons in large gun ports. It could be a bug that I had thought they’d fixed. Have you opened the gun ports to allow them to fire? If so, check and make sure there is nothing immediately around them that may be interfering. Also, unlike the resource chest you can have multiple ammo boxes. I typically put one ammo box fore and another aft and a larder beside both.
  4. The Grand Tortugar are like not-so-great submarines. They can carry up to four players under the shell, allowing them to breathe underwater, and give hypothermic insulation. They do poor damage, but have high health and weight. They used to take reduced damage and that would get reduced even more by adding a saddle, but it seems like they’ve removed the reduced damage. They are very useful for taming large creatures solo. You can take down the creatures Health with lower risk of killing it because it does relatively low damage, and then open the shell to bola the creature. Just be aware that there is a bug that after the rider uses a weapon, the tortugar will constantly turn to the right until dismounted. This cannot be done against small creatures, as they tend to get under the tortugar where it can’t hit them and you can’t see them to use a bola. They’re not all that great, but I still love them. Even though they take up a huge section of our pen.
  5. The simplest way is to stop your boat beside it, then jump over and get it. The safer way is to use a diving suit so nothing will attack you. The safest way is to use the grappling hook. Or throw a friend overboard.
  6. The simplest way is if you own the island to set it to feed your crew. Shove a bunch of berries on it and you’re done. If you’re not the owner, I’ve not tried a silo, so I cannot say whether or not that works. But you can put a resource chest with gold and a larder with food and the crew will pull from that.
  7. Ugh. If the subs run on mythos now, we’re going to lose even more mythos to thieves after we down the hydra.
  8. That also depends on your taming proficiency. With the current x2 taming rate, full 45% profiency from talents, and the 30% bonus from killing a monstrous sperm whale, we can get most tames within about 6 bolas. Bears, I think, are 3 or 4. With no boosts, expect double that amount. Bears preferred taming food is honey.
  9. These are the bugs that I’ve come across so far: - Sailing in a storm, the ship stutters and sinks below the waves. Also it is harder to steer around cyclones now, as it turns the boat against you at times no matter how long you hold the rudder (not sure if a bug or intended). - Elephants cannot be harvested from their backs once killed. Maybe related only to harvesting while mounted, but will have to verify later. - Giraffes still turn randomly and frequently while being tamed in a trap. Very annoying, but not game breaking, as they can still be tamed relatively easily, so long as you have backup for after being hit a few times. - More frequent collisions with hit boxes of tames on a ship’s deck, even at anchor. I’ve seen this with elephants and bears especially. - Sailing across a boundary while holding on to a ladder caused my character to be unable to interact with anything, and within a minute I was suddenly in the water well behind our ship, but far from the border. - On our island in K10, there is a large section of missing mesh in a rock that you can get under and be hidden. - Grand tortugars still have a bug that after the main rider uses an item, such as a spyglass or bola, the grand tortugar will be stuck turning bright until dismounted and remounted. - We encountered a discovery bug where I received the discovery point, but my wife could not. The name of the location would appear, but the discovery would not be unlocked and she did not get the discovery point. Discovery points worked fine on another island in the region. I’ll update the list with additional information when I have access to my screenshots later. Thank you
  10. I got the hat skin today on NA PvE. I now wear it proudly. Thanks.
  11. It’s really up to you. You can stay on one island as a base and use a ship to travel. You can never leave the island, if you wanted. You could make your base on a ship. You could have a main base and small outposts on other beds to fast travel to. We bought an island and travel by ship. We’ll probably build a small outpost base eventually to grow things we can’t at home. Schooners are a lot better now, and they were good before. Put a large speed sail and a small speed sail on it, get crew for the sails, then build it to suit your needs.
  12. Press M key while holding right mouse button, or hold secondary attack and press map button.
  13. Welcome, Ickle! I thank that the best thing to do early game, with multiple people, is to start on a lawless zone so you have no level 8 cap, have one person work towards ship building and the other getting archery then going into taming. If only two players, have the taming person also get advanced tools after archery, instead of going directly to taming, and the ship builder go into Piracy for Secrets of Piracy for the diving platform. If more than two players, have the third player get advanced tools and then get Piracy under the Seafaring to make the diving platform. Dive every shipwreck you find, no matter the quality, to start getting gold if you want an island of your own. Or even if you just want crew to handle your sails. Once you have a tamed pig, or better yet a bear, start doing common treasure maps to get more gold and levels. Happy sailing!
  14. It’s just a cosmetic hat for whatever armour you wear on your head. They had promised it for players who had played before the first wipe. It gives no actual benefit at all, just a different look.
  15. On a lawless island, you’ll have to build a shipyard and ship. Or, you can die and change your home server to a Freeport and buy another one.
  16. I had the same issue. Maybe it was a one server thing, intentionally or not?
  17. I don’t have an XBOX, but when I played ARK on the PS4 the controls seemed fine, and I would have expected them to be at least similar for Atlas. On the PC version, if you go into the settings you can see all of the bindings, and I believe that you change them as you see fit. I’m fine with the default keyboard and mouse bindings, but I’ve seen some YouTubers with different keys show up for prompts. If you can’t change them, then your best bet is to list the issues you have with them, probably in the big reports, and give your reasoning for why you believe it should be changed. You need to give them more information than basically just “fix it”.
  18. I have to say, despite the delays, I thought they did a much better job on communication this time. Sure, meeting the initial estimated release is ideal, but they kept us posted and really seemed to be waiting with us, instead of just making us wait. Thanks @Dollie and @Jatheish
  19. I second the nomination for Winter Thorne. I do think the subject of this conversation should have a slight change to it. I don’t believe it should be a vs. situation, as at the end of the day we all want the same thing; Atlas to be as good of a game as it can be. It’s a small, but meaningful distinction.
  20. That may be because you’re playing single player. It may not actually log you out, just put the server to sleep. You could try “cheat hurtme x”, where x is a number higher than your health. Not sure if that will damage you with god mode on though. You may also want to browse through the menu in “showmyadminmanager” to try to turn off god mode, or see if there is another command that may work better.
  21. I don’t know the details on how Atlas handles ships, but given that they’re able to travel between servers intact there should be a way for them to allow ships in a bottle. The details that would need to be worked out are the crew and resources. I was thinking that they could have something like “creature crystals”, an Atlas version of cryopods. They could require Mythos to make, and the fridge could run from Mythos as well. Resources, it could be as simple as anything left on the ship when put in the bottle would be placed in a flotsam where the ship was. They would then have to be picked up or they’re gone. They cross the border with the ship, but having everything contained in the bottle with the ship would be too easy to exploit. One schooner carrying a few galleons to load up with resources, then bottle them all up to take back solo? Nope. Resources would have to be carried outside of the bottle. Even if you kept crew in the cryopods, you can only release one every 5 minutes. Releasing a galleon with cannons and crewing it would take quite a while. Probably quicker to just sail it straight there. On a side note concerning water tames, I do expect them to come and be expanded on. I haven’t looked recently, but for crop plots “flesh” was listed as one of the options to base them on, so I think whale taming with the ability to build on them could be coming. Now I’m just picturing using ballista to wear the whale down, and at 10% it turning to flee and needing you to harpoon it with a galleon to hold it for taming. That would be pretty interesting. If they could bring some of the convenience of the cryopods to Atlas, I think that would help a lot of players out. And underwater pirate bases are a thing that must be allowed to happen!
  22. At one point I had considered using NPC crew with plate armour to tank in the power stone caves. I’d not thought about using them for treasure maps. With a decent level, good armour and weapons, they may do surprisingly well. Or unsurprisingly poorly.
  23. I don’t think having a single bit in the island’s data dedicated to “is there a claiming flag” and then checking that bit when you’re trying to place a flag is exactly taxing on the server. And that’s not how I recall the claim flags working immediately after the wipe. I remember landing on a few unclaimed islands, placing a claim flag only to find that another claim was in progress on another part of the island after we placed the flag. Regardless, now everybody can know how the claim flags work, at least for right now. And yes, now that we’re aware of this limitation we will be thoroughly checking any future islands we may try to claim.
  24. I always thought the sword didn’t do enough damage for how slow it is.
  25. So today we’ve learned that the claim system does not alert you when you’re competing for a claim, and that after one of the claims completes the other claim still contests it until either that company leaves the flags sphere of influence, or they pick up the flag themselves. We also found that while the claim is contested, the PvP rule for being “at war” applies in PvE and you cannot dump stuff out of your storage containers, and that the flag may be incorrect in reporting how many island points an opposing company may have. I wonder what would happen if the opposing company left their claim flag up and just waited out the other company until they left the island. Would it allow them to steal the claim, even though that’s not supposed to happen in PvE? There definitely needs to be some notification if an island is being claimed already. The second company trying to claim can lose their gold, though not enough to really be bothersome unless they’re just starting, but more importantly their time. It’s also a bit frustrating when it happens and you have no idea why. Thanks for replying, True Sonja.
