  1. It's a server issue. Was having the same issue last night on the server I am playing on. We had 60 ish people on and the ping was jumping between 120 to 200+ constantly the entire time I was on. The other day I was getting consistently low ping and it was buttery smooth. Not sure if this is due to a recent patch or what but it is definitely noticeable.
  2. Have you thrown raw meat and fish into the preserving bag with salt? This makes salted meat. I have lost a few per day on a stack but am able to maintain large quantities no problem. It does consume a preserving salt to make the salted meat but seems to last a reasonably long time to me. You will need to drink a bit water more often due to the salt but it rains here tons and we have lots of water barrels/cisterns for farming with pipes. If you are going on a long journey a chest packed with water pouches, since 5 pouches weigh 1.5 lbs and hold 100 water ea but 1 water barrel with 500 water weighs 525 lbs or something <-- this confuses me.
  3. Removing weight isn't the issue nor is player limit, these are good things otherwise people could load 100 people on a sloop and carry 10000 metal. They could remove weight if you aren't in the company but this could also be abused. Keep people off your boat deck in PVE works unless you want someone on the deck like an ally. One possibility is to remove the weight when anchored. I know in PVP its either sinking by fire arrows or overloading boats when offline. I pretty much expect and plan to build a new ship if I plan to sail when I login. Some days my boat will be there for a few days in a row but most days I have to make a new one.
  4. Food lasts a really long time in a presevation bag with preserving salt or a bit less in the food larder. Water isn't that complicated nor is food in general kill fish or milk a cow for Vitamin D, Vitamin B from red meat, A and C from fruits/veggies that exist on every island. I agree the vitamins are a bit meh and would like to see some work done on that portion though, if you aren't busy actually gathering etc and are just building or sitting around the vitamins can easily deplete before your hunger does leaving you unable to eat much to get vitamins up and the only way to reset it is either burn stamina down to get hunger or kill yourself and reset it. I agree with the claim system needing some more thought put into it. I think the only thing with PVE combat on wildlife that needs work is damage done to alphas with normal arrows and guns. It shouldn't be dropped down to so low because of their resistances. I don't know if the long term plan is to remove them or make them not take so many shots to kill but something should be done there. As far as killing from your house I don't see an issue with that, I personally usually kill stuff on the move. The pig could use some work it slingshots around me and causes graphical lag every time I kill one it's a bit like the croc swim speed before they fixed it but even more annoying. The only thing I know can climb up so far is the Cobra. I definitely notice the armor when taming stuff or taking damage from wild animals for the plate armor. It helps a LOT. However the bonuses to temperature for heat/cold seem to do nothing as do all the perk skills that are supposedly supposed to make you less susceptible. Player shops are going to be a mess if it's not thought out. Doing it in just free ports is a bad idea... It's going to be a terrible experience for any new players to load into the free ports during the hype of that. Towns and Cities are a lovely idea... Not sure how that will go in the pvp server though.
  5. You can still kill alphas, it just takes a ton of arrows. The issue is that the arrow does 8-11 damage on an alpha depending if you have the perks. Vs 45-150 depending if it's a body headshot and the creature. Fire arrows did need a nerf imo. Regular arrow and guns should both do more damage to alphas. I shouldn't need 60 arrows to kill an alpha pig or over 100 for an elephant.
  6. This is going to blow your mind You don't even have to google it. It's right there bud.
  7. I feel the fountain of youth is a cool idea for a core mechanic but I agree it wasn't thought out. Also, I can't think of many mmos where the core mechanics of the game can't be done solo, end game content sure plenty of that. Just because someone is solo doesn't mean they won't interact with people through game play either. I could just as easily be in a mega company and playing solo on my own doing my own thing supplying the company resources as a cog in the machine. I don't understand the negativity towards people who prefer this path.
  8. Senior day on the golden island. I feel like they are trying to kill us all off.
  9. I would like the tames to become useless familiars that follow me around and look pretty
  10. You should be able to tame the high level creatures on the golden islands I would think? I haven't even tried because good luck doing that. Currently if you find a level 30 and tame it with max efficiency of 99.99% you can eventually level it to 120 as of the moment. I haven't ever seen anything over 30 in the wild. Edit: Not on a golden island obviously or an Alpha.
  11. Doubt it's in a freeport. Probably have to go find it. No promise it always stays in the same place either.
  12. I don't really see an issue with the content and the rate of getting through the content as it stands atm. The game is just lacking long term content to play. The offline raiding and ship sinking gets old rebuilding I agree with that. The game has a lot of work to be done to really give it the depth to make it a long term play mmo. Some of the current "End game" content is a bit silly, doing powerstone on islands where killing stuff is excessively tedious, all the mobs come to the shore as soon as you show up and the way to succeed is literally running in over and over and over until you get lucky and don't die is just not even appealing to me, I would rather see it be an actual dungeon run where you go in kills mobs (which are killable for a reasonable cost) and open doors along the way and dying multiple times leads to needing a new key. The real ghost ship I have personally never seen and from what I hear is very hard to take down although this latest patch made it easier they say. I haven't a clue if the content after unlocking all the power stones for the Kraken and the ice dungeon is that fleshed out or a bit meh too. But I also realize they released a very unfinished game so I'll just be patient, the numbers will fall and rise, and eventually during any server wipes in the future before the official release I would expect influxes of past players and new players. The decrease isn't a bad sign or abnormal. There are so many hours of content and other games to play. People will come back when there is more content.
  13. I think you failed to read sarcasm on the OP taming tree comment. And adding weight capacity literally makes them more useful all around vs the wood weight reduction making them specifically useful for gathering and hauling wood. I too would not be against this though. Elephant and rhino should be able to carry considerably more weight. Considering I can carry half as much as them. I don't really see why you wan't to get rid of the tames, I mean they could remove saddles from tigers, wolves if you are going for authenticity but it's a game so no one really cares. I mean we have submarines now in the pirate era.
  14. Yea I really don't get the point of this update to elephants and was also hoping there would be some slight increase to rhino weight and reduction on stone and metal. I realize they said they didn't want this game to be "all about taming" which I get but it's really not, the tames are used to increase productivity so you can build a base, cannons, mortars, ships etc quicker and get to sailing. Now it's a step backwards and it's all about taking a bunch of extra trips back and forth to the trees. I wish they would fix the breeding system as well. Not everyone wants to just spend their time sailing and shooting fire arrows at peoples boats when people are offline. I have seen talk about using them for combat as a big use but imo they are alright-ish at best in combat, I certainly wouldn't use an elephant, but with the current meta of fire arrows I wouldn't use any mounts except for wolfs/tigers and maybe bears for the offline cannon cart raid meta, it also doesn't take much for an alpha to kill them... or for a few wild high level animals for that matter.
  15. Yea put in a little effort, the wall isn't the issue, you being lazy is
  16. They could better embed the ship demo in the menu to make sure you actually want to scuttle the ship. Don't need to adjust the timer, scuttle timer is actually longer than normal demo of walls etc.
  17. Minor patch update, shut the server down without any notice. Huge exploit like this. Not even a peep, does grapeshot not have anyone awake at this time of hour to alarm people to this big issue.
  18. There is no good solution to this issue unless they create a "Master foundation" which gives you a zone to build in on lawless islands and you can't place foundations outside of it. This doesn't prevent griefing but could prevent the spam of foundations. To prevent resources issues they can setup exclusion zones around resources. But who wants to move from freeport to lawless, build a base, build a boat then abandon their base to hopefully settle outside of lawless in the terrible claim system that exists? At least in lawless people have to destroy my stuff. In the lawful zones... they can just rob you of your entire setup with a claim flag.
  19. At this point I agree, I also think the flamethrowers should be removed from the swivel guns imo. Although atm with the alphas you can only kill them quickly with fire arrows. Takes 60+ normal arrows so that needs to be sorted as well for damage to alphas from guns/arrows or alphas need to be removed but rip actually leveling without them. If happen to miss my 1 shot to a head with a gun that takes 10+ seconds to load (which I get it's black powder) and am dead in 2 seconds from a fire arrow shot in my vicinity something isn't right.
  20. So you took away tool damage to anchored boats... cool... but I just logged into the tail end of 1 person sinking a bunch of boats in my harbor using Fire Arrows. 10/10 Content Not only is it faster than smashing it with a tool, its cheaper than explosives and you don't even have to glitch into the hull or get gems. There are some things about this game that are just really getting old. Losing a bunch of ships offline to stuff like this is at the top of the list.
  21. While I am glad to hear about some new content I hope you clean up the bugs that need to be fixed first. The shipyard 'not enough resources" bug has been going on for a while... The forge making alloy in a split second per bar... People glitching through the bottoms of boats... Duping... Tier 3 Breeding... Fixing skill descriptions in the skill tree so they are more consistent and explained. For new content.. I would love to see a harbor defense of some sort like a harbor chain/harbor net which can be raised/lowered via a lever or manually. Really getting old having people drive sloops into the harbor and ramming ships until they sink. The only reason I know this is happening is because someone happened to catch the tail end of it logging in. A ramshackle sloop was used to sink 2 schooners while people were offline. Also would love to see large stone walls similar to the large stone gateway/doors so you can actually build a fort and allow us to snap ceilings at the top middle and bottom of the wall to make citadels or forts to protect our harbors. Would also love to see sea mines which can be dropped behind a ship or floated around a harbor, make a maze and have a harbor master bring in company/ally ships. Have posted countless other ideas in other places but these are the ones fresh in my mind at the moment. Look forward to giving more ideas and seeing what makes it through into the game. I am looking forward to big content updates and lots of new things to do.
  22. I agree they should make a way not allow you to disable fog via whatever rending option is needed for low end pcs to get a similar effect. I personally play with fog and coming into port a few times I have damn near smashed into the gate every time the fog is going. Nothing like seeing a sotd right off your bow and having no time to evad as your are sailing in fog or the shots of cannon fire at a distance in the fog. I have noticed occasionally the fog renders like crap around the sails and kind of lets me xray through it. This also needs to be resolved. The waterspouts are a bit overdone I would rather see hurricanes added that cross the map along the equator ,and players can give information to avoid it or you can see it coming on the horizon, and massive thunderstorms rather than just rain with the occasional powerful waterspout/tornado that crosses land and water during the thunderstorm. I think just rainstorms shouldn't include the chance of waterspouts/tornadoes. Also a rogue wave mechanic would be cool at some point, again a very unlikely thing to see but maybe one day you are out sailing and a massive wave slams your ship under the waves, is your crew able to keep her afloat or are you doomed to the depths. Icebergs and fog in the polar regions with heavy snow causing over weighting on ships if you don't keep them clean? There's a lot of options that can be added that aren't the stupid multi waterspouts which are honestly more annoying than they are cool and always spawn right around the ship no matter which direction you turn.
  23. Enjoy your break, as long as the devs keep steaming ahead like they have I am sure they will sort it out. My island has alphas I usually see about 4-5 when I login and I go around and kill them all for xp can usually get almost a level off 2 or 3 at this point depending what it is. Haven't had any major issues with them being overwhelming. However... when I went to tame Rhinos on a different island in a different sector the predators and alphas were hell... especially the vultures. Made taming an absolute pain. We saw so many what seemed like abandoned buildings on the island and saw no one for the 4 hours we were there until we finally got the hell out of there and ran into someone on the beach as we were about to set sail. Maybe try relocating?
  24. So a lot of the skill bonuses are +10% +15% for the next tier +30% for the third. But usually these wind up being cumulative even though I would assume it's additive. hen others give +10% on the first , +10% for the second , +10% for the third and add up to 30%... This is very confusing. I have picked some of the skills assuming they are all additive but instead half are, and half aren't. I feel like some of the skills the non additive makes wind up actually not worth it so much for the big point expenditure but they do not describe this very well. Please take some time to run through and make these all identical. Either X% Total or go the other route and make them additive so it's less confusing.
  25. Except the door walls now cost 600 metal (300 alloy) each so you won't be able to afford to do this anytime soon. You just have to trust in the good faith of other players to leave areas open for resources to spawn and to not come slap down a base right outside yours. Oh wait that won't happen either. It's a stalemate. The foundation spam is an issue. It could be fixed by making entire chunks of the island exclusion zones and extending beach size not just rare resources but then this takes away from being creative with base placement and design. Mind you on my island there is salt nodes all the way along the beach so literally anywhere you build is going to inhibit resource respawn somehow. People have to live somewhere. People who can't find room in the massive claim zones and don't want to be taxed or live under a lord are going to move to lawless. This is just going to cause people to quit the game which I guess will slowly make the server population die and space will open up but that is a terribly unhealthy way to solve the problem for the longevity of this game. Are lawless zones intended to be islands no one lives on so we can push the stress back on the servers with claims where there is no land? I really don't get the thought process going on here.
