  1. Whilst I feel your pain, it happens in real life to. Whilst I'm at work, busy, after spent the majority of my first 25 years studying hard, earning degrees and then another 12 years working hard to earn and achieve a good, nicely paid position at work... I'm Taxed 60% of my earnings, so that someone that has no intention of working can live a luxurious life, doing what the heck they like with who the heck they like, with an income of HALF my net income, and NONE of my expenses. So, you worked hard to get the stones, and, some free-loader looted your corpse, took what you earned, and left you picking up the pieces? Yep. That's how I feel every day The only difference is Grapeshot could do something about that. The tax office, on the other hand shove their middle finger in my face. Don't worry guys, I'll be back to myself after this very strong coffee lol.
  2. It's a double edge sword though. If decay rates were a day, sadly we'd come back to find our plot spammed by someone else. Atleast the way it is now, we can maintain some kind of 'home' without fear real life will kill our lovely work. Lawless has its upside and downside, but if I needed to find somewhere to call home, I'd absolutely find myself a nice large unclaimed island, and bosh down there. When someone does claim it finally, you'd already be settled and, snugly tucked into your own space. They will not be able to remove your stuff.
  3. One of our ingame friends just wanted to build a galleon and use it as a mobile home. What he did was set up on a claimed island, made friends with the locals, and helped each other. He made his boat, packed up all the equipment he used, deconstructed his small huts and left on good terms. He's happily sailing around the world now, trading and treasure hunting with his bear. The solo life!
  4. What about handling sails though? Think one on a Galleon + 5 speed sails is pretty optimal, tiny speed hit, but for extra turning ummph. Weight sails? yeah... meh.
  5. @George Catcher Absolutely the kind of thing I was hoping for. Thanks, and wish I could buy you a beer for taking time to write it all. I also never knew about 'O'. That's just brilliant intel. Cheers!
  6. I concur, another wipe would leave a very bitter taste. However: No wipe coming, so happy continuing to expand my chicken farm. My company mate put a post up outside it labelled KFC. The chickens and I don't like him any more.
  7. We live on a lawless island in the tropics, and we have our own corner of the island (plenty big enough for our purposes), we did some of our own foundation work to ensure we have 'living space', and a chinese company foundation spammed the absolute rest of the island. Must say it's very peaceful here! Had we got here a few days later, probably no chance! They go about their business, we go about ours and occasionally we bump into each other, but we each leave one another alone. Before all the foundation spamming happened, they supplied us with resources, tools and equipment to get started, just dropped it at our feet when we were starting out punching trees for the first time... Ever since, we respected them, and they leave us alone. BUT I can see how explorers come along and think OMG foundation SPAM!
  8. Hi all, just wanted to reach out to you guys for some advice, if you have some! Never really worried about this before now, but, after painting up a boat, I realise that the colouring is a bit hit and miss. Some colours appear more vibrant than others for example, white seems to be next to indistinguishable against the hull. What do folks here find are the more vibrant colours out there for boats? I saw some pretty amazing colour schemes brought a dimension further using clever lighting to... I'm as creative as guano, so any suggestions / examples of peoples creativity would be fantastic I'm looking for inspiration! Any screenshots would be awesome to! Cheers everyone! Fair seas to you all.
  9. So we need Grapeshot to confirm beyond doubt how things SHOULD be working. Should GOLD from treasure maps be subjected to TAX on claimed islands? Should SHOVELER passive skill affect treasure dug up from maps? Would help infinitely with some of this mist of confusion :)
  10. hmmmmmmmmm I'll need to research this. I genuinely thought gold was taxed as intended.... if I'm wrong, then I'll help you beat some drums!
  11. Thanks Jack, I'll have a look later tonight and review the construction. If this is the case I may have to sack the ship builder Appreciate the suggestion though. Cudos.
  12. I have never had any proof that Shoveler actually increases gold from chests though? Has it ever had any bearing over the yield of treasure? If it does I learned something new today ! Also, I thought taxed gold was working as intended? The whole shop thing is such a gold black hole that every coin is valuable @Kummba
  13. Are you using a 'trap box'? I have found that the elephant does have sweet spots where you can feed wheat / potatoes, but certain structures obstruct these places. I tamed one last night in the perimeter of our base walls when it spawned in, and had no issues, i did keep chasing it down, and yeah it came for me, but dodging around buildings stopped LOS. Had no problems at all with feeding. PS use potatoes, I find them far quicker than wheat
  14. Hi all, for sanity sake & sanity check - wanted to highlight this. Especially prevalent last night & Saturday. Curious if anyone else get this. Three of us took the brig for some treasure hunting, and whilst sailing, each of us at random times fell through the hull of the boat. I think one of the triggers may be using stair case / ramp stairs with the boat moving. We never saw this on a static boat, and never saw this whilst either using the ship wheel, or, sitting on a boat asset such as a chair. You effectively phase, and see the boat travel through you, you phase through the walls, objects and boat assets. You're left treading water in the ocean as the boat sails off infront of you. It's certainly annoying, not particularly game breaking for us specifically as we're on PvE, but I can see it being quite inconvenient during PvP. Just wanted to mention it! Keep up the good work GS guys.
  15. Tax sucks lol. I was trying to figure out the math here, and it sure looks like tax deductions. @Valys try this on a lawless map... any quality, to see if the numbers work better.
  16. Yep you're right, I stand corrected. For some reason I had it wedged in my brain that possibly pre-wipe it worked out like that... possibly baked in the 20x glory lol. Went out last night, and sure enough 700g was split two ways for us... Sorry for the miss-info, and thanks for highlighting this. In this case : OP: 2x weekend is your friend! Save all your best maps and blast them out at the weekends. Hopefully you'll have enough to tide you over.... not including gold for shop... Cash goes quicker than my Mrs with my bank card
  17. I know this may sound taxingly obvious, but, who of you go hunting gold? We're a band of 3 at the moment to, and we try to sync up on green maps. I keep finding between 300 to 600 gold maps everywhere.. so I can see the 200g fee a bit steep. If you can do what we do.... One person sails off to the map location, calls out to everyone else... when ready, everyone just idles with you whilst you kill the skellies, and when you pick up the treasure EVERYONE will duplicate that gold find. So, solo, your gold will be 350g, with your two friends taking a couple of minutes out of their schedule and popping over via the bed in the ship can come with you to the treasure, and they will each get 350g... that's 1050g, they can give you the gold, and sod off back in to the bed either and carry on what they're doing. Do that a few times with green maps in and around the same area and well, you'll end up with ~3000g minimal effort on their part, and you get 3x more. If you're all in the same company, it makes sense.
  18. You CAN play on all servers if you want to.... BUT you will not be able to play the same character on all 4 servers. Each server you play on will have a unique avatar. I think you were wondering if there was an ark kind of Pilon, where you can transfer across, unfortunately not in Atlas. It prevents swarms of players griefing in, and leaving again. But as above, the server will remember where you left off, so no worries flipping pvP and PvE at your leisure. PS sorry I think i may have misinterpreted the question to... Happy sailing.
  19. @Dollie Thanks for the candid update, very much appreciated. People should stop hopping around like a bunny now and just get on and play!
  20. Just made me a very happy person! Thanks for the tip!
  21. Don't think so, the assets you crated belong to the company afaik. Some have lost bases / boats where they have split from their company. I'll let someone with more experience take over, but, from what I have gathered, I think you're better off merging companies, than starting a new one. I think you can abandon your animals, and get them back in the new corp though.... boats and buildings.... not sure.
  22. This is a really interesting point, one I never considered before.... FoY isles being different, and varying 'difficulty'. I wonder then if particular isles (like C6) may actually be far more solo friendly. I think I'd prefer a longer boat trip, and pull out less hair, than short boat trip and forever spend my days bald! lol Maybe this is the perfect FoY ratings page: SO there's 8 in total across the maps... Perhaps we can rate them in difficulty? Nothing is ever going to be a piece of cake, Seruum kind of insinuates that C6 is a walk in the park... wonder if anyone can verify if you live nearby? I'd go but all the way down near M12, pita! I betcha that the Golden Isles near us will be the biggest head-desk-smashing isle of the lot!
  23. One of the more amusing 'bugs' was when I was meat & skin hunting with my bear... got zerged by a group of lions, and what a scrap.. survived, bear went berserk, and killed everything when I got torn off the saddle.... so heading back to the ship, and was being attacked by an invisible snake... torpor going up, no snake... did a few swipe attacks, nothing. The bear health was critically low, so I jumped off, and it started attacking... nothing! in the far distance I noticed damage ticks, so ran towards it, after 30 seconds of running, saw a cobra attacking nothing, and when I tried to attack it, nothing... suddenly it died, and it said my bear had killed a level 20 cobra. only my bear was like 300 yards back down the beach...... oh how pissed I would have been had it killed either of us!. Now I'm afraid of rubberband snakes! But that ladder bug, that's annoying has hell when you're being chewed by a shark for sure!
