  1. I'd hunt through the forum. Someone mentioned a "tenant" who had built on his Claim because they hadn't set permissions to Company only and even though they changed it and the timer had run out, they couldn't demolish his stuff.
  2. I agree. A player lost his raft on the island where I have my property and he had been unable to find room to place a tiny shipyard. I'd have been happy to make him a sloop, but couldn't give it to him if I did.
  3. Some islands are terrible. The first place I settled there were spawns of 4 or 5 crocs at a time with vultures and snakes to make it even more exciting. Where I am now I might see a wolf every two or three days. Other than that it's boars and girrafes.
  4. No, your point is simplistic. There's nothing to miss. We get your point, but that doesn't mean we don't think it is pretty stupid. You chose to settle where you did, man up and live with it. I don't see why you aren't considering moving to Lawless, because you aren't Claiming anyway, so you have nothing to lose on that score. Quit whimpering and go Lawless or go and contest a Claim if you don't want to pay taxes... Or sit there and keep complaining. Your choice.
  5. I can't deny some things they implemented are a little "out there" and I am surprised they thought some game mechanics were "game-ready", but a test with thousands of people is better than a test with a small department in the long run. For a start off the exploiters can very, very quickly show what is broken.
  6. We ARE the QA Department, because it's EA and we knew that when we bought the game. Why have 10 people do QA when they can have 40k+ testers? It makes sense.
  7. I'll try that out, thanks. I have a Raft I'd like closer to my shack and not stuck on someone's shipyard.
  8. You're hilarious. You play on PvE and thus YOU are safe and so is your stuff. You don't want HIM to be the same though because that irks you. Nobody twisted your arm and forced you to build there.

    BM in PVP

Scorched ground policy all the way as far as I'm concerned. I'll hand over nothing.
  10. Just like Ark, you MUST stash your stuff before logging out. Lost stuff way too many times not to do the same in Atlas,
  11. I have the most fun and the least frustration on an Unofficial PvPvE server, in comparison to the bug- and exploit-ridden Official servers. It's a 4x3 grid, lots of islands and biomes, loads of space to Claim and build on and certain sectors are designated PvP for when the pirating urge takes over. One nice touch is that while the Freeports are still limited to lvl 8, you can build on them just as you can on a Lawless. You can also do corpse runs. With the limit being lvl 8 there it still encourages players to head out and explore. It really is ideal compared to the Official servers at this time.
  12. Oh good. I was away doing RL things. Now I can go back on
  13. I had to log out because of it. It took between 20 to 30 seconds to equip an axe.
  14. Whatever the bug was yesterday has been fixed tonight. (I was in the Inventory screen yesterday but that was the only thing that wouldn't craft for some reason)
  15. What a waste of time that would be. The cheaters and hackers would just do what they did before, only better, and everyone else would still be left out in the cold.
  16. "Grabbing The Ladder" is like a mini-game all of its own.
  17. I have the skill, the materials are present, the list is all 'green' to go and the right-click on the blueprint indicates I can actually manufacture 1, but nothing happens when I press E or click on it to tell it to craft it. Everything else I have built tonight has worked smoothly.
  18. I can't make a Tannery for some reason. I have made lots of walls and so forth plus a Loom since the failure to make a Tannery, and the materials for the Tannery are all 'green' so what's stopping me I have no idea. I'm just off to verify files and see if anything has gone wonky.
  19. You only have to look in some of the game folders to see familiar names. Folders called Scorched Earth, Aberration, and Steampunk_Pack (from the mod, I'd imagine) and some assets from those. There will be a lot of Ark assets in other folders, obviously. Taking Ark as a guideline is not unreasonable.
  20. Yep, I had to go Floors, then Walls along the outer edge. It does indeed look very lopsided, and there isn't even a half-wall that will help even it up a bit. Very unaesthetic - hurry up, Structures+ for Atlas, so at least on an Unofficial server I might have the chance of a sensible-looking base. Floors are very sensitive aren't they. I can see no reason why a couple of Floors wouldn't place and others around it would. It's almost to the point you way as well double-stack Floors from the first one you lay down.
  21. I was expecting, as per Ark, to put down the fence posts and use walls on them to make an enclosure, but they seem to work very oddly. The snap points for the walls are either too low, so I can't put a wall on them, or too high, which leaves a gap at the bottom that cannot be filled. I've cycled through using both T and Q and nothing works. Am I missing something simple here?
  22. Dark and Light had a much more elegant system, with the Tether Arrows. The way the animals drained Stamina pulling against the Tether lines just felt right. It's a pity they didn't go for that or just use nets or something seeing as people seem to not like pretend violence.
  23. Rafts do NOT reverse. You can hold the S key until you die of old age and it will do nothing. Actual ships, yes. Rafts, no.
  24. Simply for the sake of not accidentally obstructing other players, rafts really need to be able to back up. Sometimes you get stuck so badly you need to make yourself another, but there's never a place you can place a Tiny Dock on most islands. I don't even think Rafts NEED to be built using a Tiny Dock anyway, you should be able to make them in your Inventory, like Looms and Tanneries. That way people could make a replacement, offload the old Raft and then scuttle it.
  25. Yes, I wondered about "docked" too. Until the boat is released it isn't able to be overweighted in the first place. Maybe if you put your boat back inside the shipyard walls it counts as "docked" or something. That would be a nice idea. Oh, and definitely longer anchors on the Sloop. I nearly always have to back the ship almost up to the beach to get the anchor to work.
