  1. Totally useless skill, do not waste the points
  2. When people are constructing massive sea barriers from large shipyards because they are cheap and have 300k hp might be time to consider lowering their hp?
  3. And when all your boarding options fail, you sink the boat anyway, but sure I'm all for ship stealing. Will be interesting to see how well that works with invincible npcs on turrets Plus if my ship is going to be stolen I will popcorn all the cargo and scuttle the ship
  4. Last time I disabled it in options it still locked
  5. So our company got attacked last night, our first experience of pvp on land in atlas and here are some thoughts on the experience. Human vs human combat is a joke particularly the hand to hand combat with the handicapping "lock on mechanic" which only affects one player seemingly reducing one's movement speed and is so crippling in melee to the point that you are essentially commuting suicide if you take out a sword. Fighting a swarm of midgets is simply absurd, this wasn't a pvp battle, this was a slapstick comedy. Ship to shore bombardment is a total waste of time against cannon bears, 4 ships blanketing a small shore area with cannon balls did not and could not kill a single cannon bear. The cannon bear however sank 4 ships without much issue. I have no idea how that is even remotely possible. But I could see the bear rolling up and down with its cannon seemingly impervious to an absolute hail of cannon fire. Now the final mechanic was possibly the worst, now we got wiped and we deserved it due to general ineptitude, lack of skill, experience and poor level of preparation. But we didn't lose the island which the other team definitely deserved to win. Why didn't they lose it? Because despite the enemy with dazzling speed assembling a combat base right by our flag complete with swivel cannons, just two of our team were able to engage in 3 hours of hide and seek until the phase shifted from combat to peace. Despite me being locked in a cage twice we used all our creativity in hiding to hold off the flag contest for 3 hours and then we could just demolish all of their stuff and it was cheesy. They deserved the win and they were cheated out of it by two naked guys. Now its all academic since we have no chance to rebuild defences in 14 hours to withstand a second assault so they do win in the end but we gained time to make off with all of the plunder they might have gotten had we not played hide and seek, including 17,000 gold. Sad to lose the island they deserved to win it but wow the pvp combat is silly
  6. Also note that fantasy is not the same as science fiction
  7. I experimented with this last night, it appeared as though seated npcs are immune to everything, tried flaming arrows, swords, blackjack.
  8. Sloop, diving rig, lamp, bed, cupboard, sextant and go. Cheap cheerful, easy to replace.
  9. I haven't noticed degraded performance when I have the sextant buff, I don't have an fps counter running but nothing felt different in terms of performance when the buff is on
  10. Its worth spending some points on duration, 11 stars is the standard amount I collect and the compass and mini map last about two hours. Even if the skill did apply to tames I wouldn't spend points on it as the tames already make the army of the damned into nonsense.
  11. Some of the skill trees require considerable changes as some of the skills are entirely useless or in some cases misleading or flat out incorrect Hand harvesting is totally useless it applies ONLY to harvesting barehanded who does that after those first 6 wood and few stone on their lvl 1 character. Flotsam visibility talents... Useless they are entirely negated by using the sextant which gives unlimited visibility of flotsam after completion of the mini game. Pistol reloading 20% in the title but the description reads 10% faster pistol reloading. These are just some examples, the skill trees and point costs really need to be re examined. The game design as a whole seems to be highly schizophrenic the ship art assets and sea are excellent but the game mechanics result in fleets of lego shotguns being the successful way to fight. The state of pvp ship battles seems to have nothing to do with the wind, the sails, or ship speed and everything to do with who can put out the highest amount of damage in the shortest time and who has the most base building pieces attached to their ship. Melee weapons exist but seem to be cosmetic items as land combat is all about tames towing cannons that require no set up time to fire and are instantly mobile if they need to move. Treasure map hunting is nothing to do with pirate combat but all about riding up on an animal and curbstomping the army of the dead with the tame. Additional players present are window dressing and tames incidentally negate another skill "knowledge of the dead" granting increased damage to the army of the dead. This skill is a complete waste of skill points. Perhaps this is all according to the game you want to make but if so then populate the skill trees according to what the game is actually about and how it is actually played. Save time on creating art assets for ships that are rendered useless or invisible by the way the game is actually played. Why would I pay 400 gold for a figurehead that is overshadowed by all the lego hanging off the ship, a figurehead that within minutes of a pvp naval battle will most likely be on the bottom of the ocean. I hear you are looking at making it easier to capture ships.... Be careful with that...
  12. You want real pirate game let's start with having the ships look like ships with cannons firing from gunports Not these Minecraft looking abominations we have sailing the seas. You have put all this effort into making the best sea environment I have seen in any game, the ability to paint your ships and put on these gorgeous figureheads and then made it so the only viable combat ship looks like something made of lego...
  13. Did you pay the upkeep on the flag?
  14. Nope reached 90 rerolled, ignored the fountain of youth completely as it would have only detracted from my enjoyment of the game and added nothing. I have no intention of ever taking part in such a poorly implemented mechanic. When I reach 90 I will no doubt reroll again and not waste my valuable gaming time on something so ridiculous
  15. I see why you didn't go with poops
  16. You know that if you get a good roll on a crafter blueprint, keep that item in and you inventory and all items you craft from that blueprint will have the same stats.... This was mentioned by a developer as a feature.... I don't have a horse in this race, have no idea who the people you are talking about are but what you are talking about is not an exploit
  17. Guy on our company solo gathered a brig from start to finish in 2 hours yesterday so I don't think the cost needs to be reduced. The fps drop around some islands I already terrible as the ships pop in, lower costs will exacerbate this
  18. Tamed three last night in a two man team, we don't use a pen, works just fine. Well when I say fine I'm glossing over the fact that one was launched into the stratosphere never to bee seen again when we put it on the boat, but generally fine. Weather today sunny with a chance of elephants
  19. The game didn't force you to get a bear and there are far more efficient ways of gathering vast quantities of fibre (read 250k like quantities) with little to no effort even when based in the tundra as I am
