  1. My second sentence was, if you're NOT planning on grabbing an island. Posting this while at work. 1/2 day Friday so I have some time to play this afternoon / evening. Might even try to claim an island if there are any going spare.
  2. Do you guy's have no imagination? If you're not planing on grabbing an island. go to lawless build a fast scouting schooner, tame a bear. get yourself up to speed. By this time lots of islands will be taken, tax rates set, and you can go find your place to build. we're in this game for the long haul, have some patience.
  3. Nope, 50% rate islands will get none of my business.
  4. You can see the tax rates on the atlas map, question is why you land on 50% island? If noone lands on a 50% tax island, landlord gets 0 taxes. That won't last long, Personaly, if I can get an Island, I will set my taxes to be the lowest in the grid so those after resources choose my island above other peoples. If others do the same Taxes are going to plumet and those not doing the same will see there income drop. So I say to you all. check the taxes before making landfall, favor those willing to set lower taxes.
  5. NA PVE Even with the high rates, 2 evenings (one i was only able to get on for a couple of hours) I only managed to get a base together build a ship, loose ship to decay, and farm parts for next ship. didn't get to test much. I hope others did.
  6. That's just PVP, dropping alliance to hit someone. Doesn't matter the system.
  7. Not a bad idea, a limited number would ensure only griefers got added.
  8. Don't like this, you could add everyone you come accros to this list and deny acces to to your island.
  9. I know what you mean, even on the PTR when i went to get a bear, saw about half a dozen abandoned traps (that was on the PVP PTR), My quick and dirty 16 pillar trap got used once and destroyed. ( I don't leave litter behind).
  10. Need a trap to tame animals not available on your island? Do you want to breed Tames at a small outpost in the correct biome? Lot's of reasons to build temporary or small buildings away from your home. and you want people to tell you "nope, not on my land"?
  11. Disallowing all but a few would be too selfish on a game of this size. Can't even build a tempory trap to tame a bear or whatever nice tames you have on that island?
  12. https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/forums/topic/67206-tax-claim-foundation-spam-suggestion/ Think on this suggestion.
  13. Posted this in the wrong forum, so putting it here now: 1. Make a structure limit on claimable land. 2. Claiming the land unlocks that limit. 3. Let the landowner add companies to a list unlocking structure limit. 4. List also includes negotiated tax rate for that company. A structure limit of about 100 will allow for a small base, tame traps, or FOB’s, but will reduce foundation spam to a manageable limit. Once claimed landowners can invite other companies to the unlocked limit, promoting communication. Also if owner is offline allows you to start building and leave a sign / note asking for invite. If you now have a page for build limit invites you can add a field for a separate tax rate. You still get a island wide standard rate but for settlers you can have a more amicable rate. 5. Make the upkeep materials so that the taxes assist in the upkeep of the island. Yes, you will be taxing treasure chests but that will mostly be visitors assisting your upkeep not the residents who pay taxes every day. I don’t mind a tax, but having your taxes assist in the upkeep of your home island feels a lot better than them just filling someone’s resource box. As for setting upkeep to use materials, if you placed a fixed blueprint in the bank that made upkeep tokens (non-removable) and used the existing island variable to set the cost (you may need to do a bit of work tying the cost to resources available on each island, each island has a spawn table so use that). You can then make these to pay the upkeep. Going on holiday for a fortnight, make sure you have enough tokens in the bank to cover it, 2 / day is easy to work out.

  15. Exactly, we had lowest tax of our and all 8 surounding regions, and because of this had lots of small companies either setteling or just building ships to go elsewhere. We were playing the good landlord, and were rewarded well in materials, but not in the currency required to upkeep the island. The Upkeep could easily have been 5K metal, 25K wood, 25k thatch, 25k fibre and would have paid it easily, we even would have put the tax down to 10% to 15%. But the upkeep requires us (at the start of the game - before setting up trades) to do non-landlord activities to pay the upkeep. Plus if the upkeep is material you can imagine it being used to upkeep buildings, docks and the like. Being gold, you wonder who's getting it?
  16. We claimed a small island, and set the tax rate to 25%, 1/2 that of the surrounding islands. with the tax rate visible on the Atlas map small groups and solo's flocked to our island. and we had 100k stacks of mats in the bank in a few hours. Was going to lower it, but lack of gold for the upkeep ment we lost the claim. The visable tax rate on the atlas map is great for attracting people to settle.
  17. Upcomming PTR is using EU PVE and will revert back to EU PVE after the testing. From Jat on PTR thread. "In the future, the PTR will exist on its own network with its own unique servers, potentially in the form of multiple small clusters." So no 4 networks at present, but yes for future testing.
  18. Erm. So is PVE going to be like Empires, "Previous mode now known as Empires and PvE will be a modified version of colonies." You've lumped them together. So please re-read your posts, or seperate the servers on your posts. Empires is going to be................. Colonies is going to be................ PVE is going to be........................ Because it clearly states Empires & PVE will be a modified version of colonies.
  19. - Redesign: Claim System - Colonies: Freeform building, with more progress-protecting and time-enforced PvP rules creating a cooperative atmosphere, and limits to ensure the game is more oriented towards single players or smaller groups. Previous mode now known as Empires and PvE will be a modified version of colonies. Empires is getting the new claim system. Thats what everyone wanted right? Dollie Community Manager and Live Services Team Posted 8 hours ago I can see how this may be interpreted due to the wording. The new claiming system will not be on Empires. My bad, apparently "a modified version of colonies" does not mean a modified version of colonies for the Empire server but it does for the PVE server. "Previous mode now known as Empires and PvE will be a modified version of colonies."
  20. If you stick to the intent of the server limits I don't give a hoot which server you play on. This is the official forums, where better to post our complaints, comments and suggestions. perhaps getting your 161 people to post what they believe will be good for the health of the game would be a better suggestion.
  21. There soon will be, it's called company and alliance limits. As to what to do when you reach that limit, it's up to you! you can stay on smaller company size server and play easy mode or move and play with the big boys. Conversly if the big boy server is too much for you, then certainly move back to the small fry server. No truer a statement,
  22. Nice post, hope it all works out that way. But you ruin it by creating a profile with that name for this post.
  23. If these groups are turning people away from thier game, ie. affecting thier revenue. why would they not? If those rules are in the Terms & Conditions, There can be no PR fiasco, well maybe about people not being able to read.
  24. Yes I have to admit, a little bit of intelligence will be needed when selecting which materials you could block without anyone caring.
