  1. Only ranged. I tried sword and board, but unless you spec all your points into it the reaction times are just too slow. Decent against other players that actually take stuns and can be parried, but worthless against wildlife.
  2. The game doesn't support terrain changes, at all. So pit traps and anything like them is right out. Recoding the AI to have and raise children would be a massive use of man hours. Not to mention all the bugs, exploits, and extra server resource usage. Just so you can steal babies? Ridiculous. The current system is crap, yes. In my opinion they should've just stuck with the ARK tranquilizer method, except expanded. Instead of just "tranquilizer" they could add multiple variations. For example you need to make tranq poison from arctic berries to knock out tropical animals and vice versa. Common animals like boars could remain susceptible to the rotten meat poison or fish oil poison. This would add a layer of complexity and foster travel or trade between regions.
  3. If you're going to be missing one vital resource, fiber is the best since it weighs so little and can be harvested so quickly. I would like to see compensation like more metal or sap though. All islands should be missing something to force travel / trade.

  5. You can place parts. I thought of this and had spares for our first schooner. Didn't matter though. We took six of those damned ships with us at least.
  6. They need to set a hard limit of three or five per grid square. They also need to keep them away from the edges. Twice now I've gone through server wall and landed on top of them.
  7. I had a group join my company directly from their company. The shipyard he built transferred to my company. Dunno exactly what company ownership settings need to be used.
  8. There needs to be upkeep on claims. My suggestion (hyperlink) is mostly geared toward pvp, but the upkeep could still be applied for PvE.
  9. Build a square, say 4x4. Make three walls out of doorways. Make the fourth wall out of cellar doors. Lead creature up cellar door ramp and into taming pit.
  10. You have captaincy tree leveled up to decrease decay?
  11. Too easy to abuse. Every time someone is losing a fight they'll run for shore and anchor. And repair. And call for reinforcements. Your idea should be implemented, but only if you anchor in your claim. I suggested this as part of a claim system overhaul.
  12. You mean seasons? Or like volcanic islands that occasionally erupt?
  13. Why would the biomes be mixed up? It's a planet. That's how climate works on a planet.
  14. World's Adrift has a belt section of inventory that's fairly small, but you keep on death. Hotbar items must be in that belt to keep them. I would be ok with the hotbar functioning like that belt. Can any item type be placed on hotbar? I've never tried resources lol
  15. Buy a second computer. Host your own five square private server. *sobs* I miss subscription based mmo's!
  16. Nope. Even if by some unlikely chance hundreds of people sailed out in the same direction all at once, when the next grid hits player cap the walls turn red and don't let you cross into that grid. You've never seen the red server walls?

  18. It's perfect for pvp servers if it's ONLY the freeports. All that lawless territory will be open for claiming. As for PvE, just put up a whole new server cluster or let private servers handle the load.
  19. I love this idea. He's taking about multiple freeport servers (channels) in the same grid square. So if you sail into a freeport grid you'll randomly land in one of the freeport channels. To pickup new friends they would talk to the npc to switch channels, just like they already do to switch islands within the server.
  20. You know you can sail off the edge to go to the opposite edge, yes? Blue zone should be much smaller. Play on PvE server if you don't want to fight. I don't like hard coded world zones. My land claim idea (hyperlink).
  21. I think an upkeep system would be better.
  22. The world will be owned by mega companies. That's just the reality of the game mechanics. You can't stop it without completely changing the core mechanics. What the devs can do is create mechanics that offer incentives to megas to accept more alliances. They need much more in depth alliance, land claim, and structure / ship management settings. I'd also like to see a revamp of claim mechanics.
