  1. I hate it and would like to see vitamins removed. This is a survival game after all........I guess. The survival aspect of the game is not needed IMO especially in PvP. Survival for me is not taking a lead shot to the head.
  2. I play with a larger PvP company, but the first thing we do is build a ramshackle and sail to the island we intend on claiming. We grab gold along the way from shipwrecks to claim the island. We then build a small base of operations and tame bears. Bears are very handy to have as they offer a lot of utility. They collect skins, fiber, berries/veggies, protection from other players and mobs. Once that's all going we slap down shipyards to build schooners, brigs and a galleon. Build a variety of ships so we can run maps, Power Stone islands, Ships of the Damned and island defense. Next up is the main base. Since we are PvP we have to build a somewhat large and hard to attack main base. On top of pillars and/mountains is ideal. If you have the people then having someone working on harbor defenses at this time is helpful as well to project your ships....if you play PvP that is. If your company is smaller many larger companies/alliances have islands available for small companies and solos. We make gold/resources off of the taxes and these small companies get protection from the alliance in return. Rules tend to be simple. Don't start shit with your neighbors and the local alliance. Feel free to attack the alliance enemies. If the alliance is attacked feel free to assist in anyway you see fit. It is always appreciated and in the past we have brought small companies onboard that showed they can be trusted and put the work in to help out.
  3. You need different types of fiber, thatch, wood and metal to build high end armor, weapons and ships. This aspect in my opinion is very much needed and fun to have as it requires people to venture out to gather these resources whether they farm it themselves or trade for it. Ingots can be a pain especially when it comes to Silver and a few other metal types. I have NEVER found an island with silver and gems on it. Iron and Copper seem to be the easy ones as the other resource needed to make ingots is always on the same island in my experience. I am torn on this one. I can see reasons for keeping it the same and making it easier. Vitamins......most people hate it. I am one of them. Level up your fortitude and when your vitamins are out of whack find the nearest turd and eat it. Respawn with freshly level vitamins. Rarely deal with it anymore as I kill myself regularly.
  4. If you see the servers and it tries loading but stays on the loading screen/black screen then have someone locate your body in game and kill it. We have seen this in the past and killing your avatar fixes the issue. As to seeing no servers I saw a response regarding Comcast security services blocking the port used to query servers. The fix was to either open the port or disable the security service.
  5. There is a subforum for feature adds. Probably best added in there.
  6. I would recommend doing the same thing you did to get the first one.
  7. Find out Realist's schedule and then schedule the 2x event for only when he is unavailable!
  8. If they could figure out an Eve like docking mechanism I'd be willing to try that out. That would help out with company ship limitations as well since a docked ship would disappear and be "inside" the indestructible dock thus lessening server performance hits. Maybe make it so a ship has to go through a docking process so its vulnerable for 15 minutes like the current green anchor mechanic.
  9. I had an idea of doing a hot zone for Power Stone locations. Every 2 hours it switches randomly do another PS zone. During this time all mob drops increase and a small uptick of RARE drops is introduced. Those drops can be high end BP's and/or high end gear like carbines, cannons, etc. This will promote people to come into contact and duke it out. Also adding locations that you can capture and go active once every 24 hours that mine rare mats would be cool as well.
  10. The more and more I think about it I think it would still be fun to do this the Shadowbane way. I like how War decs works now. Maybe some tweaks once they are more commonly used, but so far lets leave them as is. Remove daily timers. Make it so tame and player PvP is active 24/7 everywhere except FP obviously. All structures and green anchored boats are off limits 24/7 except the island owner. War dec is the only way to make structures and green anchored boats vulnerable. I do think war decs could use an improvement. It should be a structure that is purchased and placed on the island you wish to declare war on. This structure has to be placed on land. Once placed the defending island owner has 24 hours to choose a start time. Start time can be up to 48 hours out. Less works, just tossing out numbers. Once the war dec is active the war dec structure that was placed becomes vulnerable to damage. The war dec stays active until the war dec structure is destroyed OR the island is unclaimed and then claimed again. The attacking company does not have to be the one who claims the island. It can be anyone allowing for some interesting outcomes. Just some dumb ideas to think about. As to the population in a given server that should improve. Compared to a few months back we are able to put a lot more people in a server before lag is noticeable. It is a huge improvement, but obviously more work is needed.
  11. This thread is about FPS issues and a possible fix. If you want to write a blog about your personal crusade against this development project take it to Twitter. I couldn't give two shits about your opinion.
  12. NA PvP here. There is a fairly even spit between the servers traditionally. If you have buddies playing then follow them. If not then hit up the local server with best ping and explore. I would recommend not spawning in a freeport right away and spawn in Lawless territories and explore. Meet the locals and find some companies in the same grid that are nice and working together. If you want to join a company strike up a conversation. If you don't then ask if they mind having a tax bob move in. Good grids will work together and try to protect one another. They also tend to be move level headed and not attack the larger companies in the area due to whatever mental illness they suffer from causing said large company to come to your zone and destroy everything. In NA PvP we have spoken with most large alliances and agreed on not attacking the new players so they can learn the game and get settled. Sinking ramshackles as level 8's leave freeport helps nobody. If it does happen we want to know about who did it and pay them a visit as they are a-holes and only damaging the games population.
  13. If you find the time play around as well. One of the reasons I love this game are all the opportunities for shenanigans in a sand box world. I love the fact we are not as restricted as we are in many other games. One of my favorites is putting sleeping company mates in a guillotine or a gibbet/cage so they have a nice surprise when they log back in and ask in Discord who put them there. We also have serial hair cutters and tattoo artists. Penis on the face being a consistent theme. Which reminds me.....I have not checked myself in a couple days. I could be covered in tattoos.
  14. While the previous complaints are all valid, the easiest way to kill SoD is to tame a bear (you'll need them for everything else so it should be one of the first things you do after building a basic base) and attack them with it. Bears make quick work of them so a single person can run most maps found in the game.
  15. Instead of stupid comments can we get people to try this fix and report on results? It would be much more constructive and allow the devs to zero in on the causes of these issues.
  16. This game does do a lot of swapping between drive and memory so if the external interface is slow and higher latency I can easily see this contributing.
  17. That'll happen on occasion.
  18. A lot of things have changed to make life easier.
  19. Is that radius 3 dimensional? Example: Island with large pillar. Max out on top with large base. At foot of same pillar build another large base that is within the horizontal 2D plane of the first. Would they be limited or would the Z height be accounted for?
  20. I was wonder what that meant as well. Inside joke?
  21. If you are trying to compare your posting habits to Dollie's you are delusional. It is quite easy to see the difference.
  22. Can I get one more insult in? Its a good one!
  23. Zone change lag is dependent on multiple factors here. Its pointless to argue about as it happens and will continue to happen until they find a very different approach to how they handle it on their network infrastructure/server side along with the software that manages it. Even then people with crappy PC's and/or high latency and low bandwidth due to to many possible factors to list will still have issues. Full stop. At this point its up to them to manage these issues via game related rule changes that can help prevent these scenarios. I would love to see a flow chart of how zone changes are handled at the network and software levels along with their infrastructure. Its obvious that there are some improvements that can be made here. Considering modern low end enterprise backbones can easily handle large amounts of data with sufficiently low latency this is a solvable problem.
