  1. I'm not disputing you didn't like them, I'm disputing your statement that no one played them. You are free to like or dislike as you choose, but you tried to apply your personal opinion to the overall playerbase by asserting that no one else liked them either. This is not supported by available information. By the way, the reason they are free dlc’s is because they are both modder created maps that WC chose to make official due to their widespread popularity and use in order to give them greater support and perhaps access for console players. Both modders were eventually hired by WC if my understanding is correct.
  2. ummm, no idea where you're getting this notion but as of last fall when I quit playing Ark regularly Ragnarok was the long standing most popular map in the game, including both officials and unofficials. I just checked Battlemetrics, which used to show the number of servers using each map, and while for some reason it no longer does, I can assure you I made use of that website regularly for a period of about 2 years and Ragnarok was consistently the most widely used map in the game, by itself typically being used on about 40% of all servers. The Center, while not quite so popular, was still consistently one of the top half dozen maps in use, so the notion these were "garbage" maps that "no one played for more than a few days" is simply not consistent with both available information and my own personal experience as someone who ran a four server Ark cluster for more than a year. Many players first question when considering joining my Ark private community was "Do you have the Ragnarok map?"
  3. Pro tip: If you intend to smelt any of that metal, take a forge on your ship or set one up up north and smelt before hauling back because the weight discount as compared to hauling even two of the three mats needed is considerable.
  4. It won’t cost anything. I will put 42k doubloons on it. Also if I’m wrong I will personally watch Talano eat a handful of live bees. Yeah. I said it.
  5. Oh! Um. Hey wait! I was gonna ask you about ....something. Ugh, it was really important and now I can’t remember what it was. Hang on a sec, it’ll come to me. You know when you can sort of half remember a thing but not really? Like when you can remember the tune but not the words? This is just like that but different. Crap, it’s right on the tip of my brain, just gimme a sec, it’ll come back to me. Any Second now. @#$& It. Can I have a cookie?
  6. This video just gave me a good hearty belly laugh. Thanks for sharing!
  7. Please cite for me the passage of the game’s terms of service or code of conduct which forbids altering of gamma settings or could reasonably be construed as doing so. If not, then we aren’t talking about the developers definition of cheating, we are talking about yours. Since we’re not talking about your game, players can and should feel free to agree with or ignore your arbitrary declaration that such behavior is cheating at their own discretion, since arbitrary imposition of your belief on others is something we frown upon in free societies.
  8. The person I play Atlas with lives in Saskatchewan, outside Saskatoon. We have been gaming together since 2004 and she routinely sends me text msgs during the winter that say things like “high today -34 C” I get her back in August when I text things like “humidity here 4000%” Pre wipe we lived in O2 and spent a lot of time gathering in O1. 60 fort and improved fur both help.
  9. I am the cook for my outfit. With some of the foods one vitamin is buffed all the way while the other slowly over time. Weird and deceptive, but you do get the buff.
  10. The Blackwood map was originally developed by ISO, the modders who developed the popular Crystal Isles map for Ark. I notice that the ISO designation seems to have been dropped so perhaps I missed a memo, but the point is such things don’t typically get charged for. On top of which USE is spot on.
  11. I like the way you think outside the box. Almost like how the Tianamen Square protesters didn’t let themselves get boxed in mentally. PS Tank Man is still one of my heroes. PPS Tianamen Square is lovely this time of year, or so I hear. PPPS Wouldn’t it be great if the Chinese government’s absurd attempt to quash the memory of the protest and the massacre became the catalyst for long term grassroots resistance by the people of China that ultimately leads to meaningful reform? Silly I know, but a man can dream.
  12. Pfft. You’re one of those people who wants *all* the lead out of your drinking water aren’t you?
  13. Not sure how many of you caught that, but about 30 minutes ago, a chinese spam poster started his usual routine, only it appears he was shut down after a single post, which was deleted pretty quickly. One can surmise this means the moderators were on top of it this time. Well done and keep up the good work. Alternatively, I could just complain about them having deprived me of the chance to practice reading Chinese for free. Why do the mods hate me? I'm just trying to improve myself and learn Chinese. I think they are probably racists who hate Americans that are trying to learn. Please choose the statement that agrees with your posting style/mood/worldview/medication levels.
  14. First, welcome to the boards. Second, your english is unquestionably better than my command of whatever your native tongue might be, so no worries there. (If it happens to be French I could ask a waiter to bring me a shoe with cheese on it, but that's about it.) Third and most important, your post is high quality feedback, exactly what this game and development team need to make it better, so thank you for taking the time and effort to write it out and share it with everyone. We look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
  15. I’m playing it after having left for a while due to rl and Satisfactory (which is amazing and a great example of what a well done Early Access game looks like), but I cannot in truth give Atlas anything more than a lukewarm endorsement at this point. You might come back and enjoy the changes, or you might not. It is different, but it is hard to definitively say it is better. My recommendation is to dip a toe in and see if you like the water, but don’t commit to more than that yet.
  16. Also welcome to the forums. You can check out anytime you want but you can’t never leave. Hey wait! Where are you going? Come back! I promise I showered this week month.
  17. What fun! Let’s do some more: Lebron James was still a month away from being drafted. Tom Brady had only been to one Super Bowl. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince hadn’t yet been published. A Feast for Crows, the fourth book in George RRRR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, had yet to be published and no one had even thought about making it into the most watched tv show in history yet. Dammit George finish it! Youtube didn’t exist yet. Neither did Facebook. The term social media had yet to be coined. World of Warcraft was still a year away from launch.
  18. As kidori pointed out, there is enough there that if you look closely you can see it, but the fact you have extensive Eve experience and didn’t probably says more about Grapeshot’s fundamental grasp of MMO design and what makes Eve work than it does about your powers of perception. It honestly winds up making Grapeshot look like some sort of Cargo Plane Cult of MMO design.
  19. On the one hand, there is part of me that wants to argue the exploration and gathering of materials from geographically diverse locations IS part of the content. On the other, too many of the islands are cookie cutter and the underlying systems which require the far flung mat gathering are too simplistic and optional (Cooking could be amazing but thus far can be bypassed with little downside). Certainly running around paying and feeding tames and crew members can hardly be regarded as quality content, so in the end I have to agree. They are producing *some* content, but not at a rate that gives the impression there will be a compelling amount of it a year and a half from now.
  20. He's pointing out a very valid point, that although you can Google what the actual upkeep is, your lack of play experience leaves you lacking context as to what that means in terms of an actual burden. There is relevant information to understanding the true cost of upkeep in context that does not lend itself to being Googled. The reason people keep pointing out that you don't own and play the game yet is because you keep insisting on commenting on things where your lack of play experience makes your comments meaningfully off base or incomplete in some fashion.
  21. Umm...the Eve they were referring to is one of the longest running, most well established MMO's in the industry. My guess is the steam charts show you only the players accessing Eve through steam, which in Eve's case is a minority. As noted on Eve's wikipedia page (maybe one of the first places you should have looked when researching the game), players can access Eve through steam or the game's own website directly. You should also note the chart on the wikipedia page tracking Eve's alltime subscriber base, which shows a peak of half a million in 2013 and steady increase from launch to that point. I would also point out that the wikipedia page notes that PC Gamer ranked Eve #12 on it's list of 100 greatest video games of all time in 2013. For a more definitive look at Eve's concurrency numbers, you can look here: https://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquility About 17k online atm with an average of 32k over the past year and 34k AVERAGE CONCURRENCY all time, dating all the way back to 2003. This is a good example of why you should be careful not to make assumptions about things you are not really well informed about as this post does not come across well in that regard.
  22. *sidles up to the pretty blonde with the blue eyes* Hey Beby, how you doin?
  23. Am I the only person who has a bad habit of jumping out of his ship without extending the ladders and then stuck having a hard time gettting back on the ship? It's not just me, right? Right guys? Is this thing on?
  24. Please refer me to the part of Terms of Service or Code of Conduct that could in any way reasonably be construed as defining buying another account for this purpose as cheating. If not, you've made a false assertion. Simple as that.
