  1. The current gateways are a hold over from ARK where we had things like Brontos and other tall dinos. Even the smaller Dinos were tall (Raptors etc) But the creatures of Atlas are not the same as ARK (with a few exceptions) and the gates do not need to be as large. Do you support halving the height of gateways?
  2. Thatch foundations are extremely cheap to make, hell you don't even really need to upkeep/repair them, just throw a new one down every 3-4 day.

My prediction is that Grapeshot will use the rapidly sinking numbers post wipe announcement as an excuse to merger the servers and combine the EU and NA servers together (Both the PvE and PvP ones). So look forward to a future server where every nation is playing and the lag increases either for the NA players or the EU players.
  5. If you want to PvP there is a whole server dedicated to it, go play there. Besides there is already a PvP system built inton the game, just go find another company and have each declare war on them.
  6. Now that its the weekend all round the globe, peak to peak for same day last week shows a 33% reduction in total players online. The majority of the losses will be on the official servers, some players will be back, but many will go off and find a new game to fill in the next 3 weeks, in which time their memories and desire to play Atlas would have faded. Grapeshot have royally screwed up. The only way to save the official servers is to keep the playerbase engaged, and the only way to do that is for something, anything that we do now to count towards something after the wipe. A silly hat just won't do it. The best and the one with the least impact on future balance would be to have the DP's prior to wipe count towards something. Then at the very least players can remain engaged with the game by playing for the next 2-3 weeks and hopefully do not drift off to other games.

Most MMORPGS do wipe before release, but those are true MMORPG, this is more a MMOBG (Massive Multiplayer Online Building Game) , a pretty core component of this game is farming, collecting and building along with exploration and on PvP server, PvP. I don't recall a survival building game of this size having done a wipe during EA phase after being 'live' for multiple months. I think ARK wiped, but that was a week after launch or something? They didn't even wipe characters when they updated parts of the maps causing some players to lose their homes/resources.

I doubt they will be changing the existing in game DP's, more likely they will just be adding new ones to the new islands. and revamp some of the existing islands with new biomes etc, but they will probably keep the existing islands and the placement of the existing bubbles. Afterall doing anything else is just creating a bunch of extra work for themselves and most game developers are pragmatic.

It will probably get worse over the next few days as people start to 'go out with a bang' The biggest problem with the upcoming wipe is the wiping of characters, or more importantly the characters DP's. The real level grind in the game is search for and discovering as many of the DP's as possible which in turn lets you level up. People have literally spent hundreds of hours sailing from place to place to find these discovery points. By wiping characters there is simply no reason to log in for the next 3 weeks, this will result in players trying other games, some will find a new crack, others will just not want to face searching for the same DP's again. End result is a much smaller player base after the wipe. My suggestion is that they retain characters, set everybody's xp to 0, forced 'respec', wipe inventory, claims, tames, map etc so after the wipe everybody comes back with their characters as level 1's, with no xp and only retains their DP's. This would also encourage everybody to keep playing and spending the next 3 weeks exploring the map and keeping player engagement. Fail to do this and i generally think post wipe you will see a 30~50% player reduction than from before the wipe announcement.
  10. I would be happy with resetting everybody to level 1, but they shouldn't wipe peoples DP's. The islands may be easy to get, but those secondary ones are a pain. Also by wiping everything including DP's they basically just shot the population in the foot for the next 3 weeks. People will stop playing and go off and try other games... many of them will find a new crack and won't be back. After the wipe I expect player numbers to be 30~50% down on before the announcement. If they at least let people keep their DP's it will encourage people to spend the next 3 weeks exploring and playing and will help with retaining players. Lets see if somebody at snail/wild/grapeshot realises this and makes an announcement soon, because I think they only have a few days before it becomes terminal.
  11. Two Massive Mistakes : 1. Wiping characters... well mostly their Discovery Points. The time and effort that goes into finding those is immense. You really know how to annoy a majority of your customers off. 2. Under no circumstances announce a complete wipe so far in advance. You pretty much just drove the nail into the coffin of the players base for the next 3 weeks. A lot of players are going to wander off and during that time many are going to find new games to play... they won't be coming back. If you are going to wipe that far in advance, at least let people keep their DP's as it will give them an incentive to keep playing for the next 3 weeks.
  12. Happens to me too, normal and crafted blueprinted versions goes poof into a grey non intractable blueprint.

  14. Medium gate 4x6 would be perfect, or at the very least half the height of the existing small and large.
  15. As the game progresses we're inheriting ships abandoned by other players, let us rename them, some of them have ridiculous names and I really don't want to salvage a level 41 ships just because it has a stupid name.
  16. Option to rename ship in case of spelling errors. Option to unclaim personal ships.  Paint that doesn't look like a thin white wash and actually paints the ship solid colors. Deperately need these three!
  17. I’m yet another that is currently floating around for an hour waiting to die. Because you can’t build beds in lawless areas the beaches are covered in rafts with beds. Slow motion death traps.
