  1. There won't be any griefers.. devs have a plan for them.
  2. Lag for me on NA servers is around 60. So even at double that it's managable. It was only certain zones that were weirdly laggy.. rubberbanding etc.

Server will be up at 2am on friday is my bet.. and none of the new systems will work.. people will be building in freeports, pvp will be rife in pve zones.. pvpers won't be able to shoot anyone... and so forth..unto once more fray into... And I'll be sailing on my ramshackle sloop towards the temperate forests...

  6. Pvp sinking and Pve Claiming are different things. Would be interesting to see if crew block claiming. Tames do not. No it isn't, even on the better islands it can take a day to make a ship, outfit it and get ready to go the next morning, then you log in and find it's vanished. And have to start all over. At least, it is just a Test Server tho.. not the released 1.5 version.. that'd be a nightmare. I just end my day by killing my tames and scuttling my ship in deep water. Neighbours ship just vanished. Game is deleting them at 6 hours. Not opening them up to being claimed. So if you're loggin for the night, clear the ship out. Rebuild it at next login. Although Allegedly.. 1.5 is due out today... I wonder what the chances are...
  7. It's still too limiting. Solo players are now forced to live on tiny little islands. Which may or may not be ideal for even building on. Each island should support multiple settlements. And claim flags should be set to specific areas/sizes of each island, ie if an island can clearly support 3 settlements, the flags when places anywhere within the 3 areas, should all cover all of each area. Doesn't need to be a circle, can be a funny sided rectangle. There aren't enough islands in the game for all the solo players and 2-3-5-15 man companies. Yet there is plenty of space for all the players if they made smallish communal bases. Some of the small atolls could support several people on them. It seems pretty obvious that people aren't willing to live with strangers.. so it's likely people will leave rather than live on anyone elses settlement. Guy living next to me atm has piller the whole island, then realised I could still build near him, amongst his pillers. I don't even have a house, just the machines you need and enough foundations to support them. Plus 2 shipyards. My spelling is getting bad at this hour.. I'm also quite surprised the number of people I keep meeting who don't even use the forums, aren't even aware of the colony systems, settlements, rules etc.
  8. You're on the PTR? Which one Empires, Colonies pvp or Pve? All new characters should start on the PTR's unlocked.

  10. If it was pve i'd join it.. but I'm gonna doss about on pve for now, even gonna get a raft to sail on, instead of a sloop.
  11. Just noticed it. Pvp Ptr. Ohh and they readded the fog of war. To pve at least. On the respawn map, not on the atlas tho.
  12. I think they need to remove all the lawless islands make them all settlement enabled. This would almost double the amount of space available. If they then enabled a split or even triple/quadruple settlement on the bigger islands, many of which are already split up in such a way, they could easily share the space. This in turn would triple the space available for players to settle. As well as adding the ability to block all, whitelist, allow all players. + the 24 hour anti griefing measures, which should only be limited to foundations and pillers/gun posts etc. Anything that can be freely placed. incl chests, fires. Or make it so nothing can be freely placed, except on a foundation.
  13. The tax system doesn't seem to be working correctly either.. I was on an island with 15% tax and I hit a stone and it gave me 1 iron.. lol. The entire stone. Hit some more I was getting only 10-20 iron instead of the 50 I was getting on lawless islands on same stones. It's almost like the tax you set, isn't the tax that's actually charged.
  14. My tames didn't fall down.. They fell up. About 2-3' I have to keep moving them around to keep them on the deck.
  15. Yeh I'd prefer to see a 21 day grace period, clearly they think forcing people to stay ingame 24/7 is preferable. I am actually surprised noones sued them for sleep deprivation, like people have done with blizzard.
  16. It says in the notes 150 company limit, 10 day decay reduced to 6 hours. (for griefing) It doesn't make much sense to have a standard 10 day decay if foundations etc collapse after 4 days. So I "assume" it will also change to 10 days on 1.5. Or maybe the intention is to not have settlements at all, but a roaming ocean living player base. I found I was pulling into islands all day to wait for daylight, as running into sotd during a storm at night is impossible to dodge. Although, they are a hell of alot easier to see. Small rocks and other players shipyards are not. I ran into one at full speed last night. That was probably the scariest moment of my life.
  17. Don't know if this is a PTR issue or a longterm issue. Never seen these snakes before. But they are a much bigger snake than the normal snake size. It seems their hitbox is also the same size, which for the smaller snake is easier to target, but on the bigger snake, you need to shoot at it's middle to do it any damage. Trying to hit it with a melee weapon striking at it's head causes you to completely miss it. The hitbox needs to be extended to cover the entire snake. (thought I'd posted this to bugs)

    Does seem odd doesn't it, they take the Eu Pve server down, to turn it into a Pvp Ptr, then they take down the NA Pve server and turn it into a Pve Ptr, but with a very limited ship decay window, so that the most expensive, labour instensive items can be even more easily griefed. It's almost as tho the devs just don't care about Pve players.
  19. Ship decay is 6 hours on pve ptr. After 6 hours offline, anyone can steal/claim your ship. May also happen with tames. Cause is a tempory reduction of the expected normal decay period of 10 days, to 6 hours (for testing..[or better known as to pvp the pve players by the devs]) It's likely been done to give griefers something to do.
  20. Found a flag on an island this morning, that had been placed on a ledge that you can only get to with climbing picks hehe. It's a real pity in some cases, when someone goes to this extent to make life difficult, that you can place a declaim/claim flag almost anywhere to landgrab an island. If flags were limited by declaim area ie 5m 10m etc. Some islands would be nearly impossible to reclaim due to the weird places people have found to put their flags. I really like the climbing system they have in the game. Although abit too much grunting for me, it's great for escaping nasty snakes tho.

  23. Mineral oil in D7 as well, it's called Sugarcane.. but it's underwater/on beach. And it works for sub.
  24. Then they can balance the balistas and bears.. and maybe the blue whales and bolts.. although if you can get all that at those levels.. I doubt they've even starting making balance runs yet anyway. For the time being it might be easy, but down the line..
  25. Only of experienced players. New players will suffer because of lack of experience and they'll quit faster as a consequence, there needs to be a balance between experienced tester/players and new players or the player base will increase very slowly.
