  1. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1757672844 Basically, it's a Swivel Cannon above the head of my Dragon bust.. the idea is to load it with fire.. for effect really.. just for fun. However, when I mount the gun and try to fire it, it dismounts me. Any ideas if this is a bug or intended? Maybe I'm too close to the figurehead?
  2. Just sail between them.. when it happens in fog tho.. hell yeh that's fun, cannon balls raining in from all directions and you can't see a damn thing. Or when you collide with a galleon, get pinned by a brig and end up facing into the wind.. panic mode kicks in, you sit staring silently at the screen for a few seconds, just trying to comprehend your bad luck, envisioning all the work you'll need to do to build a new galleon.. and you scrap through, with your mastercraft planks all 200/18000 leaking like sieves. And people complain that sailing isn't fun.. yeh right. It's fun.. it's awesome. But it can be slow sometimes.
  3. I want to know where they're going to put these new islands... without wiping out current islands. Could be they plan on removing some of the freeports, which I'm wholey in support of and replace those.. or they might incl the nearby lawless.. not so much on that front, since I live on a lawless island. They could be planning on adding more grids.. expanding the overall map and inserting more regions into it.. but nothing has been said. I'm expecting alot of complaints about wipes in the next few weeks and why didn't you warn us threads.. Still I will wait and see.
  4. Sailing is a sport if you aren't going somewhere for a reason. It can also be fun, if you're just going fishing for example or to a remote island.. to get away. Riding a bus.. can also be fun. Depending which seat you sit in. One of the things that gets me about galleons.. is they're just big empty vehicles.. even my battleship gally, has 2 entirely empty decks on the bottom. Instead of adding things dangling over the sides.. why not add rooms or storage inside those empty decks to make them useful in some way. The icebox for example or ice storage containers should be something you can put onto a deck that takes up some space, make the ship look like it's something not just a means to get from a to b. A big empty hull with nothing in it. But 6 masts, a wheel and a ship chest.
  5. What we need are different hull configurations. As how the hull pushes water aside as it makes way is what actually determines your speed. You can have big fat slow ships.. but you can also have ships that push the water down and the ship up and improve the plane effect on the water. But, it carries less volume. Adding crates to the side should make a ship much heavier.. but the overall cost of speed should not be as adversely affected. Gs dev view seems very economic in how they've chosen to approach sailing.. in a sailing game.
  6. 6.6 knots isn't particularly slow. It's enough to escape sotd.. So I need to maybe change my gally to 6 speed sails.. and cut weight to around 60% Maybe use 4 crates... I like my diving platform and dingy platform.. I'd probably go with 1 weight at rear, 1 handling at front and 4 speed in middle, all mastercrafts. Just for the looks. 6 speed looks silly.
  7. Esp near islands with wide shallow areas.. it's also great for fog, cold fronts and rain storms.
  8. I once had a galleon with 5 sails, 2 handling, 2 weight 1 speed. Weighed down to about 1500 off max weight. And it was SLOW. Sotd schooners were running rings around me. They also seem to spawn more often, near slower ships.. After 2-3 fights I lost a plank and discovered.. My replacement planks were all mediums.. Now I don't sail at max weight.. and I use 6 sails, 4 speed 2 handling on my battle gally and 3 weight 2 speed and 1 handling on my trade gally, which carries 10 cannon on the rear. For those lv 30 schooners that like to chase me forever.. and they will, if you're overburdened and cannonless.. they will follow you through regions, for ev er. Fun fun fun!! I love sailing in Atlas. But I have to admit.. slack wind is a killer.. esp on overweight ship. Should they change it?? Hell no. Slack wind is part of sailing.. deal with it. Took me about 4 hours to strip my galleon down and turn it into planks. That was some slow diving.. off the Iron Islands chain.
  9. We have a bear with 1280 hps.. But I cannot be certain it hasn't had points added to it. It is a bred bear however. I want to start breeding more, but am in middle of build new ships and don't have the skills setup for breeding. It's a pity base stats aren't recorded via the ancestry trees.
  10. Yeh seeing the same thing on our lawless island on Eu Pve. If you're ingame you see the msg on screen. It sometimes records crew dying in log. The other problem is, due to the "cannot board" code for ships, once a crew does mutiny, you cannot reemploy them. Because they're stuck in the "exit slide" of leaving the ship. They should be expelled from the ship into water, so they can be reemployed. I also think that food storage should reach crew on nearby ships, if there's none left in the ship they're on, they should automatically take from any stores nearby.
  11. Unless the fish is actually directly on the pixel the canister lands on. It has almost no effect. The only thing is does seem to do is scare the fish away. Great for scaring off sharks etc. Useless for killing them. A Ballistra on the other hand, one shots them. Cannister and normal shot should kill sharks n fish.
  12. Oh is that how it works.. I noticed my durability reduces much slower. so that makes sense.
  13. This is why you should put some if not all of your tames on neutral and not on passive. Esp in an enclosed pen. I lost a bear earlier this week because of a rattlesnake.. In future, use a spear or pike, it's aoe will kill the bee and ignore the pve elly.
  14. It's actually very easy to place pillers underground. You start my placing a piller above ground and then just add one under it, then break the piller on top. Viola.. invisible piller. If you're a non company player.. there's usually ton's of places you can stick a piller in around someone elses base. Plenty of places you could grief with pillers, foundations, gate posts and fence posts etc. I'm not exactly sure what this 4x thing is about.. I've seen neighbours not allied, building literally right next to each other in the last week or so. I had to mediate between them to reach an amiable situation. We need some kind of Base Block. Be it a flag or otherwise.. that basically just allows you to build say 25 tiles around you. Then as you naturally expand your base area, by linking tiles together, be they foundations or ceilings, your overall "area" expands. Yes it can be exploited to an extend, ie you could use it on lawless to take over vast swathes of ground. But it would also make it all but impossible for anyone to grief you. As they just wouldn't be able to place anything near your base. Or at least not within the border of it. I also think island "owners" should have god like powers to remove all non company structures. Old or New. It's their island afterall. They should have that right.
  15. Kinda needs a non company player to help test and everyone near me, doesn't speak english.. at all. Ever. I have 2 questions of a noob kind.. because I just don't have a clue about how to play Atlas. If I unlock a Crop plot.. what exactly does it unlock? Can they take the fruit? Or can they take the fert? Destroy the Seed? If I unlock a shipyard, can people use them to build their own ships? Is it different/same for lawless over settlements?
  16. You must be doing something wrong mate. I've seen those little archipelago islands with 60k gold on their flags, the owners are like "yeh we don't grind gold people give it to us" I guess your island is probably one of those walled off ones, with all the high peaks, where the maps are insanely placed. In which case you'll need to work for a living. And yeh you're right I don't have much experience in Atlas, only been playing for 750 odd hours since the relaunch. I have absolutely no clue about what I'm talking about. Just you go continue living in your dreamcloud.. everything in every patch, is for megas.. submarines, trenchs, golden ruins.. new dinos.. it's all for megas, because everyone else, can't even compete. Let alone pay for those 15k Crabs megas are selling, that everyone else can't even tame. Because they can't kill the hydras, can't farm the mythos, can't kill the kraken.. can't compete at all. 5k a week.. that's a total ripoff all all the people coming to your island, you've just admitted to stealing 5k of their hard work. Think on it. Btw.. I'm now aware that alot of the smaller "megas" are actually only 1-2 people. They just own a dozen copies of the game. And twink their companies. Awesome eh.. Thanks grapeshot. Megas are so awesome. Imagine if you had 50 people.. all with a dozen accounts.. And there's plenty of people doing it.. I was actually surprised.
  17. The ability to own islands, rip off map hunters by 20% making massive amounts of free gold, whilst all the smaller companies have to put up with living on lawless or if in a settlement, getting their stuff destroyed on a regular basis by the very people supposedly protecting them. Some of the smaller islands, even the tiny ones, around us are making 30-50k a week off mappers. I thought I was doing good on 25k from sotd, maps and whales. The big tribes now leave a bear in the freeports, filled with gold and veg/fruit. They then teleport at will to get their free respec, paid for by travelling map hunters. Which they can do dozens of times a day, using their int sets and unlimitied free respecs they can make mythical items, from all the bears they bought with their free gold, which they then carry to the arctic to auto hunt mythos from yetis. The only task they actually have to work for ingame, is to carry the bears out to the islands and bring the mythos back. That's what they gave to megas and large tribes. 90% of the playerbase works for 10% of the companies. Much like IRL. Those megas, now rich from work of everyone else, then enjoy easy kraken killing weekends, (usually on double xp, curtisy of GS) using the best ships and equipment available. Getting massive boosts in Xp throughout the entire company present, raising player levels to max. And complain about how easy the game is. The rest of the week they spend jumping from bed to bed to discover free island points to further gain in actual levels the following weekend. The above Post is written as a sarcastic jest.. mostly. I leave it to the reader to figure out how much is actually.. true. Oh and The Free are currently recruiting in A5 Eu Pve.. We need those island points. Company Rules: There are none.
  18. But they have such a wonderful menu.. with lists and lists of QOL changes.. that we'll maybe see in 2-3 years time.
  19. With exception to some simulator aircraft controllers and wheels for driving games/sims, most pc controllers are cheap trash that rarely last. Even the ones from decent suppliers like logitech, can't make decent hardware because of licence issues with $ony and Micro$oft.. ultimately, to save grief, it's easier to just use an xbox or ps controller or get a decent m/k. I prefer the m/k as the controllers are inherently designed for either tiny people or children and I find the controllers fiddly and difficult to use. As for the spam, it needs officials to wade in on it, I'm sure a visit from their local PAP squad would end the botters lives for a few decades in the mines in siberia. If it's even chinese actually doing the spam.. most likely someone in eu as in china.
  20. Don't mind the 40% weight limit, so much, but it needs to really scale with weight, not have presets. And max jump height also needs to scale, so if say 10% burden, loose 20% height and so on. As it currently is, the crab can get stuck on a rock and is unable to move except to reverse if it hits 40% Can't even do a low hop to get over the rock. Also crabs should push trees over like giraffe rhino and elly. Big critter like that being stuck in trees is a laugh a minute.
  21. So sitting here.. making stuff.. and I had a thought. What if: You make an arena.. Stick 2 crewmen in it, with weapons and armour. (requires 2 players minimum not in same company) Place your bets.. And whistle aggressive.. You could trap a wild animal... do the same solo, and release said wild lion onto the crewmen.. see who wins. You could also have several crewmen, small armies, duking it out in the arena. Gambling not required. Act responsibly..
  22. This could explain the difference between my 108% and 111% maybe i repaired shipyard. So we're looking for high durability shipyards rather than high quality claimed %
  23. Don't I'm getting the same now. Maybe my Gallys were built pre some patch that changed everything. My mythical small shipyard will now only produce 129% ships. It's supposed to be a 135% shipyard.. but every rebuild of ship comes out at 129%. Doesn't matter what my Int is.. or if I am using an Int Set/Crow etc. At 198% int which is my avg int when playing and specifically setting all 64 levels into int, with crow and set Which is basic mixed items, I get 460% int and I still only get a 129% ship... Might as well just build ships with the normal ship yard and forget even using the other shipyards. There difference between a ship at level 40 and one at lv 44 isn't that much of an improvement. And it saves sailing through 10-12 regions to get all the resources repeatedly to make the higher spec items. Which apparently are pretty rubbish. Except carbines, bows, blunderbus etc ship cannons and planks, decks. Armour seems completely useless except for any stat bonuses. Melee weapons are the same.. garbage.. a mythical sword kills undead about 2 hits less then a normal one..
  24. Yeh the spam is annoying. It also seems that when the spam appears, the servers start crashing as well, likely a ddos attack or similar. Every forum and dev company has to deal with this issue at some point, prior to ddos attacks at least. The bot spamming is usally easily dealt with by website admins. There is one note I'd touch on, it has been shown in the past, that whilst ads might be in either badly written english or in chinese/cantonese whatever it specifically is, does not necessarily mean the spammer/botter is from that location. They could as equally be from the USA, Russia, UK, France, Holland etc So we need to deal with the spam.. and yes it affects the community as a whole. But lets no assume that the criminals targetting the forums are necessarily from a specific location, without absolute evidence to support such accusations. These kinds of attacks are judged very seriously in the uk and can land you in jail for long periods of time, as spamming, trolling etc lead to loss of profits/suicides and so on. These criminals doing this, need to be dealt with at the same level as we deal with them in our societies. Perm Bans should be the minimum penalty.. police interaction is what it really needs.
  25. Yeh Cobra is alot bigger, monster of a snake, not as big as titanboa in ark tho.. But it's hit box seems to be the same size as Rattlesnake.
