  1. You mean a place where ships decay like crazy and full of douchebags jumping on ships and sinking them due to overweight just for the fun of it?
  2. Of course it does. You won't even have a place to dock your ship for a night if you aren't in a corp. Otherwise i wouldn't even bother with being in a corp because large scale pvp sucks in Atlas anyway.
  3. It serves as a permanent penalty for dying. Can't wait for it, however aging is too fast right now.
  4. I prefer to have one guy at the wheel, one guy at the podium, and at least one guy for repairs and navigation. Having a sniper who can take down the enemy crew helps as well. We can't replace brigs as easily as some people claim, so i prefer having one ship with 4 people to 4 ships with 1 guy on each. But i certainly appreciate being able to set sail on my own without having to wait for someone to join me. There's also a technical reason for NPC crew. Some of us once tried to participate in battle on a galeon with just 8 NPCs on it and the other roles filled by players. Needless to say it didn't end well - that one ship contributed to lag more than anything else and was constantly getting kicked from server. Didn't have a chance to do anything useful. There would never be large fleet battles if not for NPC crews.
  5. 1. Game forcing people into large companies yet the servers can't handle them (and never will). 2. Immersion-breaking ships of the damned are everywhere. I would prefer seeing more storms and less ghost ships. 3. Can't leave my ship in the nearest freeport when i don't feel like going 6+ squares back to base at 3am. I would put no death penalty and no trade mechanics in an age of sailing mmo (wtf grapeshot?!) here but i think the first is due to aging effects not implemented yet and the latter was mentioned by someone from the devs on reddit as a planned feature.
  6. Just had another "mass pvp" and i'm honestly not sure how can anyone say that Atlas was designed for large companies when the technical part just can't handle it. Constant disconnects, ingame ping meter always showing 255 (much more than that in reality), and whole ships getting kicked from the server even while only a small part of our alliance took part in it. Dunno if we made it (probably yes, it doesn't matter how much you can't reload a gun if you can just zerg the enemy) 'cuz i got super bored and deserted.
  7. Of course you can, if you're not aiming for something super expensive. You can even do this alone, as eve merely rewards you for being in a corp and doesn't force it down your throat. And btw i'm sure all my ships are still there after 2 years of not logging in.
  8. Well it's the same in eve and i'm certain most people don't think eve is a carebear mmorpg.
  9. I don't think the NPC crews are going anywhere. It's a core mechanics. And think of it: a galeon with only players on board alone is 1/3 of a server player limit. Two galeons and the server becomes unplayable.
  10. I don't see how it's carebear. I don't know what version of Atlas you're playing but for me, building anything is still very time-consuming even tho i'm in a relatively large group. I certainly wouldn't want to loose a brig.
  11. If that was the case there wouldn't be an NPC crew mechanics.
  12. You don't if you have subscription and enough positive karma. Not a problem at all.
  13. LiF is super softcore compared to atlas and i don't see why you're complaining. There will certainly be need for food and drink and medics in the future, but i don't think we'll ever get offline protection, town claims, or karma system.
  14. Well it's clearly not the game for you as it was clearly designed with 4 guys, 4 ships armadas in mind. Slave-driving companies are free to complain about the lack of challenge and how easy it is to replace a lost ship, i'm here to sail and even with 2x rates i spend more time doing boring and repetitive job of farming mats than i'd like to.
  15. We still don't know how much skill points we will get. If we'll be able to unlock 4-6 trees i'm all for it, don't like being stuck with doing 1 thing for the sake of "cooperation" (which would still exist even if we had all skills unlocked from the start), especially since the skill trees are horrible mess.
  16. *counting how many docked ships fell prey to her crew* N-nooo, because most of the time you loose stuff when you're not sailing it.
  17. Well you can always quit your top tier company and enjoy the new rates.
  18. I don't know who's sailing solo. I need at least one dude to do repairs while i'm manning the boat and at least one other dude, better more.
  19. OR because in Eve (a game about spaceships) you were farming on your spaceship. In Life is Feudal you were living a feudal life. Atlas was supposed to be a game about sailboats but most of the time you just farm mats and don't step anywhere near the said sailboats. I agree we need death penalties and a purpose for food and healing and stuff, but i agree with 2x gathering, ship weight limits increase and i'm ok with the latest patch in general.
  20. I've been farming this whole day and i'm looking into a few more hours of grind. And the grind is 10 times more boring than it is in LiF (even if it's essentially the same - somehow it didn't feel that dull and stupid in LiF) and 100 times more boring compared to eve. And that's with 2x rates. Somehow it doesn't feel intantly gratifying at all and yeah, i have a job.
  21. As much as i'd like if Atlas worked like this, we all know it's not going to happen, because: - structures prevent resource spawning - the game is unplayable with 100+ players on server - there's no trade mechanics still (that will change hopefully) - and what's most important, company owners just don't care and never will, it goes against the survival game player mentality and too much of a hassle in general
  22. Duh, i don't wanna "breed". Hopefully you won't need other players to do this and some NPC will do lol.
  23. Except that there's no trade mechanics (yet, hopefully). And if you want to be an armourer you have some advantage in PvP (just a few skillpoints but still). The skill tree is a mess, we all know that (i mean seriously, what music&dance even does?) Life is feudal have separate fighting and lifeskill trees so you don't have to choose between crafting and pvp, and no one's complaining about the lack of teamwork in LiF.
