  1. Probably not (i didn't see that many MMOs that don't have FT even tho the ones that don't do just fine without it), but it doesn't hurt to try. Our group have an outskirt base actually. I never was there. No one's living there. We're very small group and would never be able to defend it without FT. It's just "nice to have". No one ever complains about something that makes the game easier. If we could unlock the whole of the skill tree on level 10 no one would be complaining about it too. Doesn't mean it's a good thing.
  2. Just because it's easier for you doesn't mean it's better for the game. With fast travel removed you'd have to decide on whether you can afford a luxury of having an outskirt base, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. If you can't well there are people that don't have any base at all, and they could certainly use that land.
  3. There's no reason to keep it in game. Unless you actually crash and your character stays in game preventing you from logging in it doesn't take much time to get back into game. You'll probably get back before the other dude gets to the bed/dies to fast travel to your ship. As for crashes, well they should be fixed anyway, it's a bug and not a feature you know He still can if he doesn't mind sailing there. If he does well sorry then. Can always buy a 2nd account.
  4. Mind explaining? How many times you god d/c'd on a ship and instead of just logging back in you were asking in discord to save it? And why the idea of trading for stuff in a MMO that "was inspired by Eve" is so mind-blowing for some?
  5. Surely he can log back in. Yeah you'll have to buy them from someone else i guess.
  6. There are plenty of other activities. There's actually more to do on land than at sea.
  7. You can travel to any bed within the current region. So if you're sailing at A7 and die you can still spawn on your ship unless you left A7. However maybe you could set an additional bind point on a ship. Say a ship has two beds - then two players can set it as their additional home point. I don't like this as people will probably find a way to abuse it but at least it would let you to leave your ship for a while and then come back at any time. Yeah you may forget to bind there. But you can forget to put a bed on your ship already and the result will be basically the same.
  8. You don't build it. You go to one of the company's bed, hold "e" or something to bind there and then you can spawn on that bed from anywhere. Obviously you can be bound to only one bed at a time. It's just one solution, it can be like you can choose your home grid and then you can spawn on any bed in that grid from anywhere for example (obviously you need to travel to that grid to set it as your home).
  9. Obviously there would be the same respawn restrictions - any bed within the current grid or on your personal bed.
  10. You literally said a couple of times that you don't want it to be a sailing game and it wasn't meant to be a sailing game. I'm personally against anything that would make atlas any less of a sailing game. You already don't need to set foot on a ship if you don't feel like sailing. I don't see where all the "sailing is boring pls make the world smaller by making sailing faster" complaints are coming from really. It was stated before the game was released that it will take a lot of time to travel somewhere.
  11. The ship is dead in the water until he goes online again. No, once you've ported back home you can't get back to the ship if it's in another grid. Yeah, you'll have to be on a ship for the whole time of the journey (even if offline) to get somewhere but if you don't like sailing then why the heck did you buy a pirate game? That is because you're playing half of the game on a PvE server.
  12. Yeah, punching trees is so much more exciting. You don't want to sail, don't do that. You don't really need to. Don't make the game world smaller for people who are playing this game for it's sailing aspect.
  13. You can teleport back home to the bed you're bound to, just keep one man on a ship to not loose it.
  14. No, you can respawn there if it's still in the same grid.
  15. Seriously. Limit fast travel to the current grid. Maybe add a capital building (limited to 1 per company) where company members can spawn/fast travel to from anywhere. It won't fix the game but will still fix a lot of problems that probably have no other solution. 1. Large companies would be less willing to just grab as much land as they can and leave it with a few beds and no one living there to protect it. 2. They would also be more willing to ally with smaller tribes instead of wiping them out. 3. It will become more viable to attack them at their weakest spots without them mass-spawning there 4. As a side-effect of #3, there will be more wars between large companies 5. You'd need to actually bring a fleet of ships to your enemy if you want to zerg them. More large scale ship vs ship fights for everyone (ok ok i know we have server performance issues but they will mostly be fixed after two years of EA right? Right?). 6. Strategy and logistics would become much more important in large scale warfare 7. It also wouldn't affect small companies too much as they rarely have more than one island and never actually need more than one. Edit: instead of "capital building" maybe let us bind to a bed, much like you'd bind to a house in LiF. It worked there perfectly.
  16. I live off freeport for a long time now and couldn't care less about even having land. But i would like to see more small groups and solo players in this game and within this ruleset they will be all gone soon. Lol. By what standards exactly? They have a server grid that actually allows you to see what's happening on the server you're about to cross. They had less server performance issues even tho the game has terraforming and the landmasses are huge. The animations and overall visuals are way better too. The combat system is 100 times better than in Atlas and actually requires skill. Cheating was never a major problem there. Large guilds were so kind as to fight each other and not just the small guys. And it was all made by a team of amateur developers with no previous gamedev experience. The only thing that was wrong with it is slow updates, overly protective ruleset (and still there was more PvP in one week than you'd hope to see in Atlas in two months), to refusal to listen to what players have to say. And i don't see Atlas is doing any better with player retention, it's actually much worse.
  17. Most are. Yeah real life can be a bitch to gamers. It won't fix the physics that says that you have higher ping the farther away you are from the server. They can play together on official if they are willing to accept some timezone-related inconveniences. It's not worth it to let the game die just because of some small minority of players. The thing is that right now people who live in EU timezone (if we're talking about EU) and have normal work schedules are abusing the mechanics that allows offline raiding to stoneage people without having to face any actual resistance. "oh but timezones" exuses for no ORP are totally irrelevant as they are solved by adding more servers for different time zones. "oh but i have a different work schedule" excuses are totally irrelevant as you are the small minority. Now i get that many people (like you) enjoy 24/7 raiding and that is the ONLY reason to not add ORP of any kind, just stop with the BS excuses ok? I was in a guild in life is feudal and there were players who sometimes couldn't join a battle because it was 4AM for them. But at least we had a good fight every day, and even these people from other timezones had more PvP in LiF than they'd have in Atlas, because if you want to win in Atlas it's better to avoid PvP and just wait for a night.
  18. Except that the game is bleeding players like it doesn't want to survive another month. Because it would fix the timezones problem? And ping problem (you know these guys from australia or china or whatever not only have different timezones bug a higher ping too) while at it?
  19. If they did they'd have more than just two servers. Mindblowing i know.
  20. What was patched? Fixed something that wasn't even a main reason for why people were using large cannons in the first place?
  21. So why everyone and his mother is using large cannons?
  22. Large cannons are mostly (ab)used because of their superior range. To the point where medium cannons are non-existant within the current meta. I don't think the nerf will even fix that, let alone make large cannons "pointless".
