  1. I think it's caused by contesting neighboring territory, which allows them to place a flag that overlaps even other claims, not just the contested one (which needs to be fixed). And when they successfully contest, the overlap stays. Maybe there was a sea flag further "up" on the second picture which they contested with this flag and that allowed them to overlap your claims. Just a guess though.
  2. It's been reset already but I keep looking for higher (lower?) numbers each day so if I see anything past -200k I'll take a screenshot.
  3. It's a working theory based on observation. One user confirmed that their ally has seen a claim with -230k which was still protected and on the next day they were able to contest. But I was never able to confirm it myself because people around me reset timers sooner than that. In the screenshot below you can see timer -138k and the claim is still under protection. The 3 day protection works, it's finally been fixed in v9.31. The timer also does not reset all the time, probably to prevent servers being spammed by reset instructions for every claim flag. It looks like the timer ticks to 0 even when people are online but then it resets to ~18k (again, a theory). If not online, it continues to negative numbers all the way to -240k, but protection still applies.
  4. Unbinding WHISTLE "YOU FOLLOW ME" (ActionName="CallFollowOne") unbinds changing structure types (e.g. switching between square and triangle floor). This function (change structure type) should have a separate key bind. And so should the whistle wheel menu, which is currently tied to this binding too.
  5. It seems that it's a display bug. Instead of ticking from ~260k second to zero it ticks from 18k to -240k or so (3 days ~259k seconds).
  6. One of the devs said they like to make big changes, see how it goes, and adjust accordingly. Instead of making many small changes. During EA I don't mind. After official release that would be a disaster. So let's hope that this is the big change and that they will increase it after some feedback (which they already got). Would be nice if they also lowered the repair cost since it's quite high at the moment compared to basic tools for example.
  7. Ships in Freeport decay really fast. There is a problem with the weight exploit but that doesn't mean that your ship was sunk using it. If you leave a ship in Freeport, it will decay and sink within a few hours. By Wednesday you should be able to rent land from other companies. So if that's what you'd like to do you can start looking for a reputable company to rent land from.
  8. Upcoming v10.0 (ETA: Monday Noon EST :P) -50 more player levels added, and Skill Points per level increased. It pays to read the patch notes. Especially when you're playing an EA game.
  9. I'm level 19 in Freeport. I clicked respec and I had no problem assigning all stat/skill points. There's clearly more to it.
  10. The timer display is bugged. It continues to negative numbers and the protection still applies. My theory is that it goes all the way to -240k before it can be claimed (3 days = 259200 seconds). But since everyone around me is resetting their timers I cannot verify this myself. However, one user said this in another thread. In any case, if you see upkeep timer (even negative), it means the 3 day protection is active.

    Lost my character

What happens when you click "Join New Atlas" and select the same Atlas that you have previously played on and pick a region (any region)? Do you get character creation?
  12. It's a display bug. It goes from ~18k to ~-240k instead of from 260k to zero (theory). In any case, if you see timer it means the 3 day protection is active.
  13. It's called "Use Feat 1" in key bindings, second page. Or you can hold down the G button and select Claim Flag from wheel menu.
  14. Yes, there's an exploit that allows people to sink your ship by overencumbering it and that should definitely be fixed. But the rapid decay in Freeports is a feature. It's to keep people from piling up ships in Freeports (which are a safe zone on PvP servers) while being offline. My advice - when playing an Early Access game, don't get attached to your things, or your character, or anything really. You can lose everything at any point. And don't park ships in Freeport.
  15. There is no way to transfer character from one "Atlas" to another AFAIK. What you've heard was probably related to "map server" (i.e. just a different region of the map).
  16. Isn't it beautiful? Even though I play on lowest settings I'm having a lot of fun with the game. Graphics isn't everything!
  17. I thought so, that's unfortunate. However, what I was trying to say was that it doesn't have to be exactly "Saps", even though the recipe says so.
  18. You can also use syrup to make paste. Maybe some other resources work too.
  19. Ships in Freeport decay very fast. So if it wasn't sunk by exploit it might have simply decayed. Do not leave ships in Freeport for long periods of time without supervision. You can keep repairing it if you are online but if you're offline for hours then you may not find it when you get back.
  20. I think this is just a typo in patch notes. The tweet you mentioned was posted at the same time and related to the same patch. I think it should say PvE in patch notes too. PvP claims do not have such mechanic AFAIK, no upkeep timer.
  21. Works fine for me. Try to bring the corpse to dry land and crouch walk over it while swinging. I've had the problem with some very small fish.
  22. Here's what I think and I may be wrong but from what I gathered from here, Steam and in-game, the range of the timer did not change. It still goes from ~18k to -240k (I assume it goes all the way down to -240k because 3 days is ~259k seconds but the number could be different, which would mean it's still not working as it's supposed to). And when it reaches -240k (or whatever the bottom is) it becomes contestable. And when it resets, it resets back to 18k. The numbers are wrong but the resetting seems to work. I assume that the timer ticks from 18k down to 0 even with people active in the claim and at 0 it resets back to 18k if there are people active. If there are no people active, it will continue to tick past 0 all the way to -240k. However, I have no way to test the theory currently.
  23. What do you mean by "ran out"? Reached zero? Because zero does not seem to matter currently. The timer goes to negative numbers. My neighbours have -147k seconds on timer but can't be claimed.
