  1. You wish! Like the hole Ark dug, which tonight has 41k players... a lot of games on Steam wish they dug a hole like that.
  2. Yet on the main party night of the year, 38k are playing Atlas while NMS scrapes 5k as it has tonight as I type. So much for THEIR turnaround.
  3. I'm on Reptile Hell Island mate, they've eaten all the wolves. There are times I have been chased by 2 Crocs Plus a 120 Alpha Croc and a Giant Snake. Or today, 5 Crocs. Some days it's tough, so stash your gear and do a nekkid run to scout claims out. It's what I did. Persevere. I was lvl 8 when I arrived, after which they kindly increased skill point costs. I'm now lvl 32 and just opened up Flintlocks and Fire Arrows. When I arrived I had Stone tools and could hardly scavenge enough Fiber for arrows!
  4. Maybe not replies, just "likes". I get beeps and expect a reply, but often it's just Like, Thanks, Lol, whatever.
  5. Try counter-claiming. Go up to a flag, try and place yours and it will tell you how many seconds to the 3 day timer running out. If the time looks reasonable, slap your flag down. Don't look at all the red circles and give up.
  6. Seems to be a lot of it about. I've been telling people that if their flag is a pre-patch one that they need to replace it. Only post-patch flags get the 3 day timer, so it seems.
  7. Have they got the bug ironed out where people lost claims after being offline a few hours? A guy on the island I am on had this happen to him and he lost everything. I'd hate to wake up and find my claim gone from under me. I've had three claims on my patch and they were defeated, but it would be nice to have a definitive answer from the Devs. Also, I see some flags around that have a tiny red rectangle at the top, marked out with black lines into a 2x4 or 5 grid. What does that mean?
  8. The three points per level from level 11 works fine for me. Trees such as Farming and Taming aren't worth spending any points on and there are others I'm not interested in at all.
  9. Work it out for yourself. Two per level to lvl 10, three per level thereafter. Sheesh.
  10. Didn't read it. Why do I care what YOU think? It's what *I* think that matters to me.
  11. The bed is for respawn after death and Fast Travel between beds. Just log out and you are "sleeping".
  12. Oh, close the barrel when it's full. Someone told me the water can "leak" if left open. Maybe it's supposed to represent evaporation or something.
  13. I thought that in my biome, Low Desert. Surprised to find it does, but unlike Ark you don't see it or hear it. Leave the barrel lid open and eventually it fills with water if they are open to the sky. They don't Lock though. I have 2 of them In a sort of 2-walls high "chimney" in my house inside a 1x1 locked room, so that people can't steal the water or get into my house where the rain comes in. I am on my own so 2 is ample, but you could have as many as you want. You fill waterskins in it's inventory and press T to get the full skin out. Reservoirs should fill with rain too, like in Ark, but I've not made them in Atlas as yet. You might be able to drink from those in the same manner, or maybe by using the pipe system? Must try that out.
  14. From latest patch notes... Ship of the Damned targeting ranges now are reduced by the type of ship (down to 30% for rafts (which means they will now attack rafts - but you have to get pretty darn close to them!) and 0% for dinghies) My underlining and bold font.
  15. I was looking forward to Taming but from all accounts it isn't worth the points for what it does, a bit like Farming. I hope they adjust those two skills
  16. I have a couple of thousand hours in Ark and knew what to expect in Atlas on PvP servers, and knew it would be even worse with it being an EA release. I will leave PvP alone for a while longer as it's bad enough with the crocs, wolves, bears, etc. and the crazy vitamin system without having to contend with the rabid players as well.
  17. As Percieval said, your raft would have been slows as hell. They only have so much carry capacity. I take enough to survive the trip itself - Stone tools, 100 of each Berry, 30 of each cooked meat, 4 or 5 Waterskins and a bow with 100 Arrows and maybe some Metal. Although since Copper from normal rocks has been increased I could get by without even carting metal along. Slap a Claim down, and announce in General Chat you are doing so and that you are seeing if any claims have been abandoned and not trying to poach. People get tetchy when they see someone is trying to "steal" a claim.
  18. Don't bother with Lawless zones, they're just another newbie zone although at least it is possible to build on them. Go to the non-Freeport and non-Lawless zones. If you can't find any land to settle, put a Claim down and if the owner has been inactive there for 3 days you get to claim it. If they have been active the claim fails. The animals can be a problem, I admit, but persevere and you can gather and build. It seemed impossible at first to me but using my Raft as a little base with a bed and a couple of locked boxes on it I slowly, bit by bit, got the materials for a small shack, 4x4, with a bed, campfire and a large storage box. I'm on my own and with 6 of you it should be a piece of cake if you all have bows. Three of four guard and the rest Gather stuff. The Freeports would have to be Instanced housing as they're pretty small towns and with 57k players last night and even 45k on at 3am there wouldn't be room in town for them all.
  19. Being close to the Freeport. Freeport is the newbie zone and beds don't work.
  20. Claim system SEEMS to be working. Some guy slapped a couple down on the island I'm in and both failed because I was active and the other guy he tried it on with was active.
  21. Any sap (or equivalent) in Low Desert biomes? Edit: Found some Honey. Looks like a fan-shaped honeycomb on top of a small boulder.
  22. Can you poop and eat it to die, as in Ark?
  23. I noticed last night it seems to show only big Companies.
  24. There are the newbie zones - Lawless and Freeports - and the rest of the map. Once you are out of the newbie zones you are in the game proper. No restrictions. Quite a few people think the newbie zones are all there are.
  25. No auction house, they wreck games rather than improve them. Player-to-player (Individual or Company) trading should be all there is.
