  1. Submit a support ticket with screenshots/video to document what is going on. Then sail out of there to the best of your abilities. They aren't going to help via a forum post and there is little to no reason for you to camp the area while hoping they fix it.
  2. @Pax Sorry man, but this isn't the game trolling you. You parked the boat in an area where it just didn't fit. When you unanchored things took damage. The only way I can see this as a "bug" is a collision box bug on the shipyard allowing you to get that close without sinking you anyways, or allowing placement essentially with pieces inside of the ship. Sorry for the loss of your ship though.
  3. I've actually tried arrows and fire arrows, those don't seem to do anything to SotD. If they aggroed kited near shore using a expendable sloop and then using a hatchet to move the aggro from the sloop to the player). That's the only thing I can think of, haven't tried moving aggro cuz we usually just sink the damn things with a battle schooner/brig when they start getting too close to our shores or our neighbors shores.
  4. Use the damage buff on the tame, seems to help with harvesting more. Found a jackpot of sugars when I was doing a treasure hunt using the right click to do more damage. Sap is I believe 10 weight per 20 in a stack, Paste is 50 weight per 500 in a stack. Remember to use a ship resource box since it stacks higher.
  5. I play on both official and unofficial. Saps in the form of Sugars that are harvestable via the bear can net you thousands in just a few swipes, same with the fiber you need. Toss it on a paste schooner(designed purely to ship the bear with some mortars and pestles somewhere and you can transport thousands of paste back to base easily. Not as nice as just having it on your island sure. But to say it's scarce means you are not looking around at all.
  6. I would definitely recommend shopping around and seeing what is already out there before taking on the hassle of setting up one yourself. Right now the available ini options are very limited and customizing the server via mods is a bit buggy as well still. I'm on a PvPvE cluster, most of the map is PvE with the exception of 4 grids(4x4 map). So when looking don't be too off put by what the homeserver server shows as the game mode as it can be PvE and still have PvP(and vice versa). I'd look around there are plenty of streamers/youtubers who have started up their own maps(4x4 or higher) that will let you join, they usually require a sub on twitch or patreon support but if the goal is unofficial with controlled environment(anti griefer rules) it's cheaper per month than doing your own and usually ends up with you having more people to play with.
  7. I don't disagree that it's more efficient to kill yourself rather than balancing them but I've found that usually with the improved vitamin buff and at least 30 fortitude, you get hunger / vitamins to drop at relatively the same amount(if you are active). But that is primarily due to health / stamina regen causing increased hunger. I usually make it a few days before I finally get tired of shit being so far out of whack due to the advanced recipes being still somewhat broken(vitamin arrows are a damn lie).
  8. That's nice to hear. I'll have to give that a go, I've torn panels off ships before to save tames from them getting stuck inside of things but if I can just whistle and have em work just like the NPC's I'm gonna just switch to doing that. Thanks for the information.
  9. I haven't done that before does that actually work completely? I usually just use the move to to get them on the ship, but if the area has structures it tends to bug out and result in the tame being stuck in the walls of the ship or disappearing(what happened to OP). The probably 5th tiger that I tamed and moved onto a boat ended up disappearing, about an hour later we were notified that it was killed by a shark so something caused it to teleport somewhere in the water and I have no idea where, but it sounds like something similar happened to you. We've worked around this by only using the move to option when the tame is near a part of the boat with little to no structures placed. Although if it can get the tames on the boat I'd just do follow and have them get themselves on that way.
  10. Setting it up yourself with the alpha program? Free provided your PC can handle it. Renting servers depends on how big you want to go.
  11. A sloop is much faster than a raft. If you can level to the point of making a loom and having the ability to make the medium speed sail that will make it even better as you will just blow right through any region you get into. You will really only have to worry about the lag areas(usually lawless zones where people have spammed structures).
  12. Yeah we do cooked food but there are a lot of us and the island we are on only has 1 small area of the herbs for basic foods. So we have a limited quantity of the food available. Really wish they would add in seeds for the herbs/berries would be a nice change to make this a bit easier to work with.
  13. I've gotta ask cuz I've never seen you post something even remotely positive about this game or the company developing it so I may be missing the hints of sarcasm. Is this sarcastic post or are you being serious?
  14. I might need to do that, I typically run up the stairs and jump over the railing back to the deck to get hungry again lol. Didn't even think about the training dummy, would save me getting kicked off the boat every now and again for sure.
  15. I'd suggest learning more about the process before assuming you know anything. From the sounds of this is you actually don't have the slightest clue how this works. Alpha typically means much of this is gonna be base level work that will be revamped time and time again. You should 100% be expecting everything including these "Base systems" that you expect to be working out the gate to change many times over and to be broken and then iterated and fixed. Because us players(the testers) will find a bug, an exploit, and abuse the shit out of it. Do you really think everyone on the team is dedicated to working on everything in game development? That they couldn't possibly be sectored off into different teams, 1 team working on new content, while another is working on bugs, etc? I mean fuck that must mean any laymen on a construction crew must be an expert plumber or electrician.
  16. Not exactly in M8 but rather M4 north of ya is where the main base for my company is. I usually am out at an outpost in D2 though, prefer the cold and am thinking about possibly attempting a breeding program. I'm about 90% positive I've been through M8 before, not sure if I've talked to anyone though lol.
  17. Sure, but a general statement saying they need to worry about balancing still includes cost balancing as well. It actually is entirely because of EA. There are multiple cycles in development that include pushing out new content, can't exactly balance the game and make sure everything works together nicely if you never add new content now can you? Add on to this it's not one team working on one thing, it's multiple teams in their organization working on multiple things, some things end up being ready before others. I get it, you have an idea of how this should work and what they should be working on. You have expectations that base mechanics this early on are going to work 100%. That is entirely a you problem. EA means that they are going to throw things in that work in a test model, but when the public gets it we tear it to bits and they've got to rebuild multiple times until they get something that isn't perfect but works for most scenarios.
  18. This maintains balance most of the time for me. Between 20 and 30 fortitude(not including the EQ buff), take improved vitamin deficiency and then just be active in the game(harvesting mats/moving). I just eat/drink as necessary and wear clothing appropriate for the climate.
  19. Balance includes changing costs. It's definitely been done in a way that I don't like either. But it's part of balancing the game.
  20. @Jatheish When you say forced character destruction is this in fact the killing of the player character or are you meaning the literal deletion of the character on the server so that if the player comes back they would have to recreate their character?
  21. The mentality of some people here is definitely "Alpha/EA is really full release" and i'm pretty sure we have shit like Fallout 76 to thank for that. Full release games releasing buggy as fuck.
  22. I'm a bit in the middle on this one. The cost could've been balanced better for the protection offered, but I definitely don't agree about adding in organic paste to the cost. Not because it's not everywhere but because it doesn't really make much sense. I'd much preferred them adding in new tiers of building, I think I saw a suggestion post about it (Insulated tiers) that did have this new cost. Could even come into play with same durability but added heat/cold insulation values for those living in the tundra/heat areas. Best way right now to deal with it is build a cargo schooner(swivels for defense only) add a bear and take it to a tropical island that has sugars in the form of a ground plant then just process that into organic paste. Not ideal for PvP and some people in PvE seem to be hellbent on building behemoth walls around their islands for some reason but it's at least something.
  23. Playing the mini game or not playing it, it's still gonna be slow. They balanced it based on the type of weapon. Bows are near instant because it doesn't take long to grab an arrow. It takes time to pour black powder and put a round in the guns we use then tamping them down as well. Hotbar only dictates it if you are putting on multiple items it will go 1 to 0. If you are just dropping 1 item on the hotbar it doesn't adjust the cooldown to be more that is item based. I'd be fine to add it in the cannons/swivels at least that would add the ability to speed up the reload directly rather than just through passive skills.
  24. I've said it before but might as well say it again. Limits resolve absolutely fuck all. I'm sorry you haven't found land yet but it's out there and claimable and they are even patching the player bodies being there so that after awhile they just die and you don't have the issues anymore. This limit just means more companies forming to own more land and you still get stuck without it. Claim System > Pillar / Foundation Spam in Lawless.
