  1. I can see both sides of the arguement(US based so week long vacations are the norm for me as well), but I play with a lot of people from the EU. I'm not sure how advanced the coding is but perhaps an arguement can be added to the code so that areas with many structures(bases) have the 3 weeks regardless of how many claim flags as this represents "used" territory. And claims with nothing(just land) have 2 weeks starting but a reduction based on amount of claim flags.
  2. Nice, I'm on PvE as well. The lag may get resolved when many of the boats are gone but the last time I went to a FoY location was doing a powerstone. We killed the hydra and then zerg rushed the powerstone pedestal. Lag/Frame drop was a huge pain during that process, to the point we had tigers/fire elementals popping up having already killed things as they spawned in.
  3. It definitely is, and I really wish I would've mapped the points I had that let me get up to 64 lol then I could add to this.
  4. There isn't an area that can show you how many you need for the next level. But it is between 23 and 25 per level roughly. You can see current count right above the xp bar and there is a part in the discoveries menu where you can find out how many you've actually received from exploring.
  5. Sorry you are having such a hard time with it. It's definitely an unfinished system and you are going to have to have a lot of patience with it to even attempt breeding. I've done some testing to find an optimal setup and tundra/polar is basically the only option as you can easily regulate heat when it's always cold. You can with some effort breed and raise them with about 6-8 grills ready to turn on/off around them. But it is super touchy and in all honesty you will get more out of taming a new high level creature than you will out of trying to raise up a new cub. I'd come back to breeding in a few months when more things have had time to settle and they've had a chance to pass over the system at least once.
  6. Row a dinghy over near the raft and you can transfer the cow from the raft onto it using the radial menu.
  7. FoY isn't hard at all. It's the lagfest that they induce that is the problem.
  8. I'm curious because your title / post seems to imply that somehow cultural differences is racist, there is nothing racist about different cultures not being the same you do realize that right? Chinese gaming culture has no moral issues with "cheating/exploits" Western gaming culture has moral issues with "cheating/exploits" It's really that simple and I'm sorry you for whatever reason find that racist.
  9. I can agree with a system to not aggro or take damage while not aggroed but not taking damage at all just because it's anchored, I'm sorry but that can be exploited too much. The solution should be to reduce it's will to chase if it isn't actively getting hit(increase the cost to the griefer) and remove damage while ofline/not aggroed to the structure/ship. It's already in place that the ship itself won't aggro SotD while anchored(and not previously attacking) so add on to that.
  10. I was in a buggy grid earlier but was able to connect and play for an hour or so recently.
  11. Way too many to not have some trolls thats for sure.
  12. @vaylain Aloe, Poppy, Turmeric, and Chamomile all count as medicinal herbs and can be used for medkits. Keep in mind there are 3 total options, 1 allows you to heal someone, 1 allows you to give them a stamina buff, and the other allows you to heal in an AoE(Savior Feat).
  13. 100% uncalled for and unnecessary. What the hell is your problem?
  14. Throwing knives are very nice. Same damage roughly as a pistol but faster to reload since you just grab another knife. Can also be used as a melee weapon.
  15. 1. It does seem to affect hand held tools atm, not sure if that is actually intended but it is nice. 2. Doesn't seem to be enough to be worth it I have noticed a slight difference in damage. The amount caps at I think 30% in the buff menu but if you look at each skill it sounds like you are getting a 60% buff. 3. Chamomile, Turmeric, and a few others are used for the kit. Can be find in temperate/tropics. The skill is nice for caves and higher levels as the kits heal a percentage of health over time and don't use the entire durability of the kit in one use. Downside kits have a spoil timer so only craft what you need at any given time. 4. Stealth does work but it is more useful for the actual taming process(lower chance of the creature getting pissed and trying to kill you while feeding it). 5. Definitely needs to be built out, so far this one seems to be worthless to invest in unless there is something I'm unaware of in PvP. As for character movement as someone already said it's just negating the debuff from armor. Wear some plate with and without the buff the difference is insanely noticeable. Shields, not wrong super useless in all aspects save taming. Shields can be super useful when feeding tames if they continue nerfing tame traps.
  16. Can't tell if your trolling or just being dumb because you don't like the system either. Pictures are 100% broken
  17. When an unofficial server has "No Collision" turned on for creative buildings / better use of pillars and such. The land claims cease to function properly. You will not see any decay on your structures, but anyone can build anywhere no matter what the setting on the claim is. Steps to reproduce. 1. Host Private server with No Collision on 2. Create character and place a claim flag down 3. Verify settings are so that no one can build in the area but the owner 4. Create second character or have a friend join 5. Place structures with the second character or have the friend place them. Not a major issue for officials though.
  18. Lived on an island with cobras as the only aggressive spawn. Hasn't been an issue in awhile(double walled exterior). But the aspect that Notorious was talking about them running away is rather annoying. We've even seen that same behavior in alpha lions/tigers to the point where I killed one with a spyglass the other day because it just kept running away and I was out of tools.
  19. I can 100% confirm it is just supposed to be the killing off of the sleeping entity. Jat confirmed that in the last captains log. Not too far down page 2.

    Getting Started

I've played for close to 400 hrs now(maybe more, haven't checked in awhile). I've also started out quite a few times, 1 time with my main character on official PVE I am currently lvl 61 with a max of lvl 63. A few unofficials and a few times on a private test server I have. I've also started out as a not so fresh character as Lvl 58 in a freeport just playing around seeing how the ramshackle sloops worked a week or so after they initially came out. I saw a guide on this and figured an updated one with some skill information might be useful. Freeport Selection So this is rather important, If you are not used to this kind of game then stick to tropical/temperate areas to avoid having to deal with major heat/cooling issues that can cause you to die quickly. Tundra / Desert freeports will have nearly constant temperature issues that make your time more difficult than it needs to be when just starting out. L5 is a nice Temperate Freeport with most resources M5 if memory serves is a nice Tropical Freeport(again with most resources). Leveling Guide Note: Important to remember, killing provides more EXP than gathering Level 1 - Gather enough fiber until you level up(fiber is light so you can gather more than you need for the tools at level 2). Level 2 - Gather enough stone/flint/wood/thatch to craft a stone pick and stone hatchet, once you have these tools gather materials to make a few spears(just enough to kill a small prey animal like a monkey). Skills Obtained : The Basics and Tools of the Trade(Save the remaining points). Level 3 - Craft your first bow(you should have the hide from the spear crafting before). Sklls Obtained : Archery and Basics of the Bow (Save the remaining points). Level 3 - 8: Kill everything. If it is something that can kill you. Use terrain to help, get up on ledges or areas where things can't get to you. https://atlascalculator.com/?ac_bpP2RC This is what it will look like once you max your level to 8 in the freeport. You will be able to get a few more things and even get a decent base ramshackle sloop built if you take the right skills. But at the base xp gain rate this entire process should take you less than an hour(less than 30 minutes if you push hard and don't worry about the sloop until after you are lvl 8). Before you leave the freeport this should be the minimum for your skills as this will let you build up to wood tier and make your own tools while giving you a weapon to fight off predators. https://atlascalculator.com/?ac_xzTKBA If you are in a small group you will be able to specialize later. Level 8 - 11: Kill anything you can, gather what you need. Skills should look like this: https://atlascalculator.com/?ac_xSAb2Q From here on you can do 2 things that will net you XP in great amounts. Alpha Hunting - Trap and kill any/all alpha creatures that you see, they provide greater amounts of materials for harvesting and tons of XP. If you are solo the oil jar is almost necessary but if not a group of 4 can take down an alpha relatively quickly with just bows. Treasure Hunting - This one can net you much more xp much faster the higher quality maps are absolutely fantastic for levels. You can max level in just a few hours if you have a few close high quality maps. Building Guide Your goals should be to gather what you need to make the ramshackle sloop and about 100 wood/thatch/fiber for repairing it as you travel. The minimalist approach is to toss a fire and a storage box on and get out of the freeport. For survival aspects I would place 2 fires, a smithy(can fit in front of the sail at the front),a large storage box(at the back by the ladder), and a half stairs leading below the main deck on. Diplomacy Guide Don't be a recluse. Talk to people. Not everyone is going to be a dick to you. Make alliances they can help with any claims you end up having.
  21. Avoid the "Move To [ Insert Ship Name ]" option for right now, just hop on the boat and whistle to follow they should teleport to being where you are/near you instead of inside the structure of the boat. The problem with "Move To" seems to be that there are designated spots for the animals to teleport. Most of us are not fully aware of what all these spots are so we build these nicely designed boats only to have our tames inside of some walls/railings/ceilings somewhere. Our tame moving boats typically are built in such a way that there is a large middle section that is completely empty aside from the decks. Move to so far has worked fine in those situations(going from the side and only moving 1 tame at a time onto the boat, then moving it immediately to a new spot), or using the whistle command which has been working perfectly for me so far(Thanks again @Percieval)
  22. Don't you use logic in this. Clearly everyone on PvE is a load of crybabies who can't handle it. /s - Just in case anyone didn't catch the glaringly obvious sarcasm.
  23. I have had a lion somehow manage to get itself stuck inside of a foundation under some chickens and it couldn't do anything. I cannot recommend enough that you leave your tames on neutral inside of your walls though. This will solve 99% of your problems. Enough of them can even destroy most alphas with minimal losses even after the "nerf" that seems to be a buff.
  24. From what I can tell this only matters to the person doing the hiring/captaining of the ship. If you hire them they will be cheaper per hour, if you captian the ship they will be cheaper to feed. Doesn't matter who built the ship. Edit: Natures Cry - Doubles damage works on only the mount you are on for a short duration of time(duration increases with each skill you take down to advanced) Natures Touch - Heals creature for a percentage of health over time, duration increases for each skill you take down to advanced Artillery reload/aiming skills do seem to work for any NPC on the cannons but I have not personally fully explored this. Firearm reloading skills grant about 3 seconds faster reloading time. Archery damage skills do not seem to be worth it(30% additional damage max and the feat greatly damages your bow and the aim portion doesn't seem to do anything) Throwing Knives and oil jars are super effective(knives are basically like firing a pistol only faster and no reload) Melee skills, 1h haven't played with but with dodge it's not really necessary(double tap directional key to dodge) 2h crush feat is nice does a lot of damage and stuns, useful for the army of the damned tank Captaineering as mentioned only seems to matter to the guy at the helm but the reload overdrive feat that is really nice, affects npcs and players alike so the cannons all reload much quicker. Medicine - Savior feat affects about 2-3 foundations away radius but consumes a full kit, using just the kit on one person heals percentage wise and only uses about a quarter of a kit per use. Armorer - Ignore the shield tree, just dodge much more efficient and you don't carry a 45kg weight around. The bonuses are nice to have but not necessary Hand to Hand - just get the torpor buff, haven't played with more than this as if I'm doing melee it's with a sword. Farming - buffs are nice from foods but the skill points for soil growth bonus / large crop plots are a complete waste. Piracy - Knowledge of the old ones only affects the player so this is a nice to have early on to make treasure hunting easier before you use tames/fire arrows and oil jars. The plunder only affects digging in the dirt, not treasure hunting and diving bonuses are not worth it yet as the improved oxygen bonus in the survival tree beats using the diving suit altogether(outside of the fortitude buff it gives). Navigation Tools - Literally everything here seems to be a waste, you have a map and a compass with a general direction you need to go in. There is very little reason to even bother with this. This is an all over build and requires being level 50 to get it but if you invest in ship building to get a speed sloop(medium speed sail on a sloop) and then get a bear going you should be able to do fine. Obviously better in a large group but this is a "soloish" buildout. https://atlascalculator.com/?ac_a6k2XA
  25. Just get the Natures Cry buff, doubles damage of the tame you are riding for a short duration. Helps with harvesting and deleting the army of the damned when they spawn in.
