  1. It is actually what would allow you to mix the servers together. Because every settlement owner gets to set the raid times to their schedule it means that a Na timed player could play next to an eu timed player and if the set their raid times to their play times the na player couldn't raid the EU player unless he raided them on the EU players schedule. Is their way of saying we will only make you vulnerable during the times your company plays so no douche monkey can raid you at 3am your time while you are sleeping.
  2. The foy run is exactly the point, the current system is a single person runs in naked and screaming to run past mobs spamming e to touch a stone. There is no attempt to fight the mobs at all, nobody does it as a group with tactics or even throwing grenades down tunnels. Just run die run die.
  3. Maybe a stacking debuff of some sort like -5% stats for 20 minutes but if you die again within that time you get a X2 - X3 all the way up to X5 until you survive for 20 minutes for the debuff to cool down.
  4. So what are people going to be doing on wipe day? Personally I plan on loading all my favourite animals and crew onto my favourite brig and sailing into the middle of the ocean somewhere to drink spiced rum and shoot flare guns into the sky as the server goes down. What are other people going to be up to?
  5. Their plans for revenue for this game is to have cosmetic micro-transactions like the armour that you can get in the freeports, In single player games there is no one to see the cool armour but yourself or you will use mods to insert it yourself which would reduce the income for the game, honestly I am surprised they allowed unofficial servers as they wouldn't be able to purchase from a game store so no income. But hey maybe they will remove the unofficial once the game launches.
  6. Indeed it was in a detached sort of way, It was made by Snail Games USA, which is a division of Suzhou Snail Digital Technology. Snail Games bought out Wildcard at the end of 2015 https://mmos.com/news/snail-games-usa-acquired-studio-wildcard-developer-of-ark-in-december-2015 Atlas was actually announced by Wildcard at the 2018 game awards not by Grapeshot as Grapeshot was an unknown sister company at that time. Atlas is made by Snail games in the same way that Pixar Movies are made by Disney, Pixar is wholly owned by Disney but has a degree of autonomy and independence in business and decision making although how much influence the parent company exerts is unknown.
  7. I know it's been suggested by a couple people in different suggestion posts, pretty sure I have at least once as well. Dig some up and up vote them in the suggestions forum.
  8. Everyone spam their own ideas in his thread, he seems to like that.
  9. That would suck unless you could have multiple characters on the same server, Unable to Connect: Sorry you cannot log in now because too many people from your company are online! If you were playing with a group of active players you would never get anything done. Limiting the company members to like 50 would be fine with me though.
  10. There is no real evidence one way or the other that shops WONT be in PvE, it's only hypothesised by this part "Player Run shops which are placed on islands can also be taxed by Settlement owners" which was placed in the settlements section. This in no way really suggests that there wont be player run shops in PvE islands, I think this is something that people have just kind of over reacted on and made assumptions about. I could be wrong, I hope I'm not, but player run shops is PvE territory not PvP so why would they skip over it in PvE. In PvP I would be very hesitant to have a shop that wasn't defended to the eyeballs because it would be full of gold and items, a prime target for looting.
  11. The community manager stated that "they have heard our "suggestions" read ceaseless rants and whining about how the whole atlas will look like the lawless servers and no one will get any land (probably correct but anyway) many people have taken that to mean that they are not going to go nuclear and remove flags from pve although there has been no official statement on the matter.
  12. The no build radius would need to be significantly bigger for the "home" flags, something like the water claim size to give people enough room to expand into. Because the home flags will always override the type 2 flags, overlap wouldn't make a significant issue as they would never be able to steal your homeland anyway, they can only steal your type 2 land by placing one of their 2 "home" flags over the top of it and if they are willing to waste one of their two doing that then they can go for it. I think people will still kick back against the PvP flags once they are implemented just because their existence is so uncertain living under the rule of someone who can at anytime walk into their base and popcorn their resource box without them being able to retaliate.
  13. I would like to make it both pve and pvp as it would give pve a reason to defend their bases as well as something that attacks on pvp differently to players.
  14. So basically when you are dealing with PVE so long as you are playing the 20 day timer makes flags incontestable and people if given the choice would in general not permit building on "their" land despite the benefits of doing so. Hopefully with the news that the devs have heard our cries howling in the night and @Dollie has said "I feel I've a pretty good idea of how you guys feel" it's possible that we may get to keep our flags after all in a hopefully greatly limited number. As a possible scenario for this perhaps having two types of flags could be an idea, a limited number of incontestable flags for your base and surrounding area that you do not wish to be able to lose and then a second type, unlimited that operates off of a mix of the old and new. Type one flags - These flags are your "home" flags and are designed for base building and securing your home area meaning keeping the riff raff out of your garden. Limited to 2 in number Unable to be contested in anyway Have a 24 hour cooldown on placing them/picking them up to prevent people dropping them to flag override resources and picking them up again. (select pickup flag and it starts a 24 hour countdown after which it appears back in your available flags) Have a 21 day timer as per current system Are set to company build only and cannot be changed Type two flags - These flags are your territory & tax grab flags Unlimited in number Provide tax from resources harvested in the area Are contested based upon a timed upkeep, when they (company member or owner) visit the area and do things in the flag zone the timer goes up, if they don't the timer goes down (credit to @Lotus for this part if you want to post a link to yours go for it but I couldn't remember where it was and yes I read that wall of text) meaning that if they never step foot in the land or if they only spend 5 minutes a day in the land they will lose it quickly Are set to free build and cannot be changed Structures built within (including owners) are on a decay as per the new system from the "march madness" patch meaning they will require upkeep Flag override - The effect of dropping a type one flag in an existing type two zone The type one flag overrides the claim priority but does not remove the existing type two claim flag instead placing it in stasis, this means that the owner of the type one flag can build without decay timers, gather without tax, tax and generally live as though they owned the land Removing the type one flag reverts the original claim owners flag with associated benefits/drawbacks Welcome for ideas to bring in
  15. Except that it is totally against everything in a sailing survival game to teleport a ship full of people across the map. if there was an instance based system that you could only go into on foot then maybe but other than that, never gonna happen. But then your ship is left where ever you happened to be at the time, at the mercy of the sotd, or your tame is left there at the mercy of alpha cobras etc.
  16. the reality of companies that got big by merging is that they have literally dozens of bases, even several on the same island as every time they merged people didn't just leave their home for some central point somewhere. so even if you walked into a base chances are there would be one or two people in it at most, but there will be 20 bases with 1-2 people in them.
  17. Dude, chill, slow down and breathe. I agree with the environment wipe just not the character wipe. It needs to be done to merge the player base properly. It's not a serious post.
  18. You are in fact forcing the person to pay protection money or be wiped. Sounds like pvp to me, go play on that server.
  19. players will return but to unofficial servers just like they did with Ark. This is actually the worst thing that could happen for the game because they are looking at a microtransaction driven profit which they won't get on unofficial servers, they also won't get pure feedback from unofficial servers because of mods and rate changes etc. Environmental wipes and losing bases, tames gold whatever were to be expected, them deleting your character and forcing you to reroll is not.
  20. Their plan to afford to run the servers was alway through cosmetic microtransactions. If people leave and don't come back then yes it is a valid concern. It is very easy for people to not return, particularly with games of this size that encourage people to delete if they aren't playing them, more so if they are downloading updates every other day. Once it is deleted there is only a small chance they will come back rather than just move on to the next game. Games that are funded off of microtransactions must keep their players hooked and hooked continuously for them to be willing to spend on those little things. Personally I have stopped my building projects and are waiting for the wipe, after the wipe I will make a small base and just wait, I will not be building anything big for months for fear of another wipe after they change their minds about their new system, I will not be investing the time to play the game I will be investing the time to hold the patch of land I manage to grab on day one.
  21. of course it would be fair, it is unfair to punish the players that stayed by taking away their characters. Honestly they need to consult with a marketing executive at some point and talk about how sunk cost is what keeps players playing and that every character wipe will lose them money in the long run.
  22. An idea to implement items that have a chance to drop from higher quality maps, ie. journeyman and above in addition to the gold. These items are models with proper meshes such as golden goblets, a diamond the size of your fist, a jade galleon and other models that can be displayed in a treasure room on podiums like the artefacts from ark were. Depending on your play preference they could either be sold to vendors/other players for gold if you don't want them or put them on display in your base somewhere in a treasure room. They should be heavy and valuable, like 1k gold each and a couple hundred kg. The idea is that these are items that can be stolen during raids that cannot be destroyed by dropping them, if you drop them they are just placed on the ground rather than decayed. It would require the addition of a build-able lockable podium that you place the item in like a wall hook (or head spike from the next patch) and the item appears on the podium for everyone to see, to steal the item you have to destroy the podium where it then drops to the floor and you can pick it up. This could also be part of a metric for ranking companies such as company A has 200k gold worth of treasure and is rank 5, company B has 250k and rank 4 etc. This metric would work for both pvp and pve giving something more relevant than land claims to rank companies by, it would also paint a target on the higher ranked companies and encourage pvp as everyone could see that they have a treasure vault worth X amount of gold that can be stolen.
  23. the trade tab would only be available in the freeport meaning you would have to stay there to spam your wares in chat meaning no one would see it. Trade should be out in the real world not being to buy it in cities and I honestly think very few people would do it either. people will stop at a port and buy 1k wood so they don't have to spend a few minutes farming before sailing away again on their next treasure map but not many people are going to sail all the way to a Freeport to buy stuff when you could just farm it along the way for nothing. the only things that will be sold in freeports will be high quality crafted goods which most people won't use anyway because you need the skill and the level ups to even use them making it kind of redundant.
  24. Yeah because you will be willing to wait 4 hours to do the Kraken because John Q Chucklenuts has signed up but is nowhere in the area, thanks but no thanks, those systems only work because of teleportation to zones is a thing.
  25. The die off has begun, with the announcement of there being no point playing till march 20 and that everything done up till then is pointless, like 99% of our company is gone and the crew/animals are starting to die from starving. The company log is filling with the deaths of innocent crew and tames... Every death be on your head Jat!!!
