  1. No problem. I also have a brig with 12 cannons on the port side that I havent used to fight sotd yet, I just can't justify paying for the npcs to man them when ill rarely use it. With the schooner i only need the 6 npcs I already have.
  2. Its untested and I plan on having my brother doing repairs so theres no armor. We are on pve too so no players to worry about
  3. NA PVE Today we decided it was time to do something different with our base. It was crappily thrown together as our needs changed, and is cramped and looked horrible. Instead of remodeling we decided to build the new one right next to it so we could take our time and tear it down when the new one is finished. We decided to build it on a cliff platform, never did that in Ark so I think it will be a cool change for us and since we already had a platform in place as a way to get down the cliff, we just had to start building off of it. We didnt jave a lot of time this morning, but we got something basic started. Not ready to share pictures yet untill its finished, lol. Our plans for this weekend are to do an 1800 gold map, and then explore and gather non local resources on the way home, hopefully filling up our galleon. We are all at level cap so we need to switch focus to getting discovery points. On the way to the map we plan on visiting a friend who is 1 square over. We are trading them a rhino for a lion, and then we are going to borrow their taming pen and tame a few bears.
  4. After update 18.57 one of my npcs keeps phasing in and out of existance every few seconds. He follows and can be assigned to stuff, but doesnt "work" when he is phased out. If i look at the crew count on my ship while this is happening it shows him being added and removed from the crew as well. If you access his inventory it kicks you out when he phases out as well.
  5. 64 again, did FOY the weekend it came out. Ill probably do it again.
  6. I just set up a schooner with 5 large cannons on the rear but havent had a chance to use it yet.
  7. NA PVE Started off today discovering that one of our bears and cows had been killed by an alpha cobra that must have glitched through the walls. Guess its time to reinforce the walls a little better. So after that we decided to take our galleon on a little joyride to get a feel for it. Not far, just to a neaby island so we could get honey to tame another bear this weekend. Furst thought are its crazy fast, but now I see what everyone is talking about with its turning radius. Took almost the entire distance between my island and the next to do a 180, lol. So we get several hundred honey and then hit another nearby island for shale oil before circling back to base. We encountered 1 sotd, which I didnt even try to avoid, I just blew past him and he missed, lol. So I learned something today, my brig is still going to be my main ship, and the galleon will be reserved for heavy hauling, and long distance exploration, lol.
  8. NA PVE Had a short but productive day. Started doing a little gathering to take advantage of 2x still being active. Next we finished up stocking our galleon, at this point all we need is food for our trip on Saturday. And if we forgot anything we can craft it on board. I went a little overboard on repair mats for a pve cargo/exploration ship, but given how much we went through on our brig last weekend its probably still not enough. 4k wood, 4k thatch, 6k fiber, 1500 metal, few stacks of hide and 20 replacement planks. To finish out the play session we slapped 5 large cannons on the back of one of our schooners so we have something capable of killing SoTD. Also, our ally who lost his brig last saturday said he is almost finished with its replacement.
  9. NA PVE-lawless Been a while since I've updated but we are still hanging in there and having fun. Since our last update we built a brig and are putting the finishing touches on a galleon that we plan on taking out for the 1st time this Saturday. We also have 2 bears, an elephant, 2 rhinos, and 2 cows. We have made a few good allies that we trade with and explore and run maps with. Rather the recap the last month, Ill just talk about Last Saturday. We went on an 8 hour trip doing maps and exploring and the trip was really rough. We went in a brig and our ally went with us in his freshly built brig Started off in B10 and our 1st map was in B8. It was pretty uneventful getting there, but slow due to crappy wind. The sotd were really thick and both of us took some hits but nothing major. Get to B7, do the map and head to our next desto, C7. Get to C7 and find the map is on top of a mountain, which we were not prepared for so after an hour of looking and trying to get up we decide to move on. Our 3rd desto was D7. We almost get to the island, its dark and a storm kicks in. We get seperated and head in to anchor. We anchor no problem, but our ally hits a rock, blows a couple of planks off and starts sinking. He didnt have any spare planks so hes frantic trying to build one, and neither of us have experienced fixing a sinking ship. I happen to have spare planks so I hop on my bear with them and try to find him. By the time I find him he has stopped the leak with 20% hp left. After a moment he tries to move off the rock and takes damage and starts sinking again. He's out of repair material, and sinking even faster. I rush out with my planks and just as I get on his ship it sinks So i go back and get my ship, and him, my wife and brother start trying to find and save his gold and blueprints. I pull up, we salvage what we can do the map and decide to move onto our final map location, C4. After several storms, and a few more sotd close calls we finaly get to c4 and run the map with no issues. Then we start the long road home to B10 with lousy wind. Same crap on the way home, storms, storms and Sotd close calls. We finally pull up to our allies base at 3am my time. My ship was looking pretty rough and we were just about out of repair mats, so while our allie offloaded his stuff i gathered enough wood and metal to do some repairs. We took several hits from sotd and went through several cyclones so a few planks were almost down to 3khp. We finally get home at 330 am, bring our bear inside and go to bed. The next morning we offload our gold and blueprints, refill our repair mats and discovered we brought home over 7k gold and some decent bps too. Our plans this weekend are to run an 1800 gold map in k12 with the same ally, only this time we are going to bring our new galleon there the night before and run it at the start of our play time, then spend the trip home exploring and gathring mats that aren't local to us, that way we dont have several hours of straight sailing and instead are stoping every 20 minutes or so. Should be more fun for everyone and we will bring home stuff to trade and help up build some bps.
  10. The sotd spawn rates are insane again. We made an 8 hour round trip last night with a pair of brigs doing maps and were seeing 10-15+ in most grids, some clustered 4 or 5 together. It was a rough night, lol. It was hard to avoid some and we took some good hits but made it home safe.
  11. Are your ships anchored? Anchored ships/rafts dont decay unless they are hit by cyclones. We had an abandoned, unanchored raft in our cove that eventually decayed after 4 or 5 days.
  12. Yeah, 75 fortitude and I still almost die from heatwaves. Going to respec and put more points into hp and weight
  13. Sunrise after a long night of treasure hunting
  14. So as it is now, if you want to do maps with allies or explore, they have to either bring their own ship, or accept the fact that if they ride on someones ship and die then they are out for the day. I suggest being able to assign a bed to allies so that they could respawn on your ship. Would allow us to take 1 ship instead of multiple and no one misses out on the fun.
  15. I enjoy the sail times. I play with my family, so we use the time to catch up. I'm not opposed to them adding more things to do though like card games or fishing while moving.
  16. I have a good way to compare, my wife and I have identical systems, 9700k @ 5ghz, 32gb ram, and an evga 1070ftw, both with identical 4k, 60hz monitors. Our systems usually run similar fps. So I put the beta on my pc and not hers and fired both up. It looks pretty promising. At 2560x1440P all maxed and identical settings on both pcs and looking at the same things, I'm at 45-55fps and she is at 30-40 fps. So next i bumped both up to 4k and she was at 25-30 fps, and I was 30-35 fps, so not as big of a bump as 4k, but not bad
  17. We found an elephant in the middle of the ocean. Couln't claim it so we asked in global, waited a few minutes then left it
  18. We tamed 4 bears this weekend to replace the 1, 1 fell through the map when I put it on the boat and died seconds later, but we made it home with the other 3. Still have them today, but every patch they get stuck in the floor and I have to rip the floor out. Oddly though, my elephant, chicken or cow are never stuck in the floor, just the bears.
  19. I'm very happy for the alpha changes, but it is getting pretty old ripping my floor up to recover my bears after every single patch
  20. Bought 2 elephants today and had a great experience. We look forward to doing business with Gerok again.
  21. Well that just sucks, been a rough week for us, lost our elephant yesterday to an angry pack of rhinos, and now the bear just vanishing. And our small company just started our 1st galleon. Glad we are getting another 2x weekend
  22. So our bear has vanished. Put him away in his pen this morning, which is fully enclosed, stone, and 3 stacked foundations high, and that is surrounded by a 4 high stone wall. I needed to use him this after noon and he was no longer there. No death message, not under the floors, just gone. Any idea where he could be, or is it gone forever? my wife and I are the only ones in the tribe that have been on today, and the other 2 people in my tribe are my brothers and they only play on weekends.
  23. You can dye the lanterns and it changes their color
  24. I play in a small company that consist of my wife and 2 brothers and we still enjoy playing. We have a base in lawless and a brig and 2 schooners. My wife and I play all week and my brothers join us on Saturdays. We only get an hour or 2 a day during the week to play, which we spend gathering and building, and on weekends we do treasure maps and explore/trade. We also have a trade alliance of 5 or 6 small companies from our square and enjoy meeting up with them to trade, hang out or run maps. Last night my wife and I even made to to the FoY and are young again.
