  1. I wanted to be smarter than everybody and avoid crowds during the first few days, so I chose E12 as my Freeport. After a long and laggy journey I settled on the first island I stumbled upon on D11. There was plenty of free space, and I was naive enough just to put a couple of flags. There was no land grab idea during the first few days, and it was a friendly community. There were a couple of small snakes and OP wolves, but otherwise, it was such a relaxing place to live. After the landgrab wars, I had 5-6 land flags with an excellent resource set. Wolves became very rare, and snakes disappeared. Since I controlled bear spawn points it, I hade a great selection of top-level bears, and trading was easy enough since bears were so OP. Every time I traveled to other tropical regions, I wondered how difficult life could be with all the nasties spawning 24/7. D11 wasn't too cold, it was peaceful but once the land was locked nobody would ever come to the island. I think I'll go to the temperate region close to tropical again.
  2. Wonderful! I'll bring some goodies in form of rare resources!
  3. I want to trade my Bear wild tame lvl 38 (0 levels put on the bear) for a giraffe of similar level. Will deliver but no more than 3 grids from D11.
  4. Bear Make a bear agro on players based on proximity and speed. Add small jump ability. Real bears can jump. Make them rage at 1/10th of HP with double damage. Chicken Add roosters. Rare and always aggressive, difficult to tame (some kind of mechanics required, maybe only seeds passive tame requiring sneaking behind). Can be placed to alert on hostile creatures. Cow Should be more rare. Bull Make riding on the back of it ineffective (slow and no attack just enough for parking). Make a tier 3 plow saddle to recover resources similarly to shovel. Increase weight x4 with cargo saddle. Taming should be a bull riding sport. Can be lured with wheat into a taming pen for nice sport events. Crow Should be rather renamed to Raven since it's kind of large and not in groups. Remove the walking sound. Razortooth It has too low HP. Should be an ultimate thatch farmer. Elephant Weight should be increased 4x or more but speed should scale to the weight. 1/4th weight = 50% of speed 1/2 weight = 25% speed. It should be an ultimate transport animal but super slow. Giraffe Better thatch farmer. Horse Able to be saddled with plow saddle. Ostrich Fastest mount. Ability to gather earthworms. Parrot Make the parrot speak! In addition to normal levels allow adding speak levels to the parrot and select tiered sentence it'll learn. It would be an incentive to level parrots. Penguin Protect against cold and heat weaves during breading. Rabbit Change the modle. It's ugly. Rabbits should have a high speed and be able to escape players very easily. Make a cage trap with carrot to catch. Once tamed could be a long range danger detector (like SOTD) as a shoulder pet. Rhino Make it better stone / flint / metal gatherer. Seagull Organic paste / prime meat / prime fish meat gatherer. Sheep Could also give insulation boost. Wolf Pack boost. Make a dolphin jump boost luck instead of straight intelligence. Luck would give 10% chance of crafted item being seriously OP. Something like a roll of crafting bonus 0-50% but will only add it if it reaches 45-50%. Make a dolphin jump only if raw meat is dropped in the water and at the same time increase agro range of sharks.
  5. Atlas world is super boring. Every grid is almost the same. I was really hoping for a kind of continent / archipelagos map before launch. With more bundled small islands and big, even partially inaccessible, continents along with currents and winds that would make traveling faster but more challenging. That would make route planning a lot more fun. Small passes infested with SOTDs and long ways around in relative safety. I wouldn't mind 10x land as long as there is a viable option for trade and actually meeting other players like cities where you can buy or rent a plot of land or a pre-build house.
  6. Funny thing is that most of the people think in categories of their experience limited usually to their own grid. We all agree the system is flawed. There are a lot of servers with zero population and fully claimed land. I completely understand the feelings of a new player when he arrives to such grid only to find it full of unused land. But there are grids with medium sized comapnies that are active, there is a trade and the only unused land is reserved for resource re-spawn. Introducing upkeep in gold would penalize solo-duo players that have hard time doing better maps but are very active in the community. With all the flaws just after launch this was an amazing game in terms of community. People would come for a chat and new arrivals could be greeted with bunch of resources for a good start. Trading was much more common and in general experience was more rewarding for me. I don't know how but I would like these days to come back On the economy level, artificial taxes like claim flag tax are not a good solution. It should be up to the players to run the game economy. Incentive to run cities. I would much prefer for example claim auction system or permanent rental contracts that if the company fails to pay could be evicted by the owner. Or even a complete redesign of claim mechanics where there's a single claim flag per company per grid that would start small but could be upgraded with rare resources (and additional upkeep costs) to grow. Or even kind of alliance coop flags. Automated trade routes. But in the end I know they need to experiment heavily and learn on their mistakes. If they fail to do this people will soon abandon this game and there'll be plenty of free land
  7. I also have a schooner. Initially I had all side medium cannons, 1 large front and 3 large back but I noticed that rear cannons aiming, for me sailing solo is a little bit more difficult than front and AI does not do a good job. I had side skirts from half stairs so most of the damage during side by side battle is concentrated on these. I since redesigned this to roll only 3 front cannons in addition to side cannons and removed any unneeded weight. Problem with schooner and large cannons is that you have to come back to port every 2-3 battles either because you need to stock on heavy cannonballs or on repair resources. Medium cannons give you more room to defend. Also side cannons help you when fighting with more than one SOTD and are much more forgiving. The biggest problem with front large for me now is often SOTD will ram you when you try to shoot it and that damage to planks is heavy. I'm going to build another schooner with BP planks and cannons and the design will be armored on front and side. Also I'll roll with large handling sail instead of speed sail because speed is not that important during battle and with that design you'll always be slower due to resources and cannonballs needed. I did usually fight 3-4 SOTDs before returning to land and could take 2 sub lvl 9 or one up to lvl 20 withouth
  8. I was teleported, along with the horse I was riding, to the middle of the ocean on restart. Bye bye my upgraded intelligence armor...
  9. Build a wall around your base and get a bear. Farming on bear is much much easier and with natures cry and healing touch it's really OP so shreds snakes even at low level. If you have gold you can even get some crew on swivels to guard it. Recent change in SOTD spawn rates is really challenging, don't sail in the low wind and invest in large speed sail. If there are SOTDs nearby just keep avoiding them instead of cyclones. Always keep your ship repaired.
  10. Let's keep that post on top. While I can accept flaws and pains of EA the thing that kills the game for me are griefers.
  11. Since my cargo schooner was sunk by SOTD yesterday (2 great medium weight sails for total of 12k weight) I need a cargo ship design that wouldn't be slow as a snail. What's your preferred cargo ship design?
  12. @ZOTTEl we are neighbors. I'm from Sherrood. Have you thought of making a warehouse and selling locally?
  13. Same here. Thatch bear trap and random foundation. When I change to company only it says demolish allowed but nothing happens when I try to do it. It's a pity since a nice company settled near and they are missing resources...
  14. It's too early for a wipe. They need to redesign core mechanics especially claims. Maps should be larger and more diverse. What we have here is a land shortage. If they would limit players to 2 flags we would soon have resources problem and islands would be packed again. Maybe bigger islands + resource intensive claims flag upkeep (like Rust cupboard) ? Penalty in upkeep with every next claim? Most people here want "faster horses" when we could have couple radical changes that would greatly improve this game.
