  1. I think it applies to the crew members you personally claimed. So in theory maybe you could just have one company member learn them and unclaim the crew and let him claim them.
  2. This is the reason I don't play Atlas PvP. I am interested in ship combat though. In almost all serious PvP games they have spawning areas that are off limits to the enemy team. The PvP objectives should be away from the spawn area. This all goes back to the fact that there is no real PvP system in place in the first place. It feels like an experiment, not like they really sat down and thought about it. They should have server factions to join and objectives. If the objectives need to feature land based-warfare then fine, make some islands with objectives on them but also have safe zones for players to stash their valuables. There needs to be a reward to the PvP other than all the other guy's stuff. Add PvP tokens and a vendor with aesthetic rewards.
  3. Grapeshot? What is going on? The Christmas tree was a bust. A lot of the time when the server restart messages arrived at the game clients there was never an actual restart. I've waited an hour after and never got disconnected. Most of the grids are completely unplayable due to extreme lag. I mean like waiting a minute to interact with objects for 20 seconds. Can we please get an official update on what's going on in this forum?
  4. It was happening before the holiday event. It was happening actually even before the last wipe on E4. The wipe fixed it for a while and they do occasionally fix it, but it always comes back like the clap. I did spend a lot of time exploring this zone as it's been my home for the past couple of wipes. I haven't seen any super egregious foundation spamming. I've actually seen it worse on zones without lag. Fields and fields of floors with chairs on them. I know people aren't going to want to hear it but I think it has to do with the trading still. I remember when it was completely turned off it seemed great. Maybe coincidence?
  5. Still a dumpster fire. I would encourage you all to open support tickets. Maybe we won't get a response but at least it will show up in their reports that this is a continual problem.
  6. From what I have observed you need to have the crew unassigned to sails, guns, or anything. You must be anchored. Also they will only repair the planks. They will not repair decks, ceilings, guns, etc. Only planks. They do not need to have repair hammers. You just need to have the right materials in the ship resource box. Also don't neglect your sail sheets, which you cannot repair with a repair hammer. You need to have fibers in your personal inventory and walk up to the sails and use the E option to repair those. You can repair the wood structure of the sails with a repair hammer though. Also always keep spare planks, steering wheel, ceilings, a sail, etc. for an emergency. I usually have a large storage box labeled as "emergency" with these things just in case. If you're going into golden age ruins I would at least have five spare planks. I lost a ship last week from a ghost ship firing a few shots at my schooner. Lost three panels but would have survived if I had five.
  7. I ended up letting myself die of dehydration as I couldn't punch anything or get any animals to attack me. That fixed me so I could again interact with things. The lag is back to being horrendous though. I just packed up my cargo bear and headed for my "E4 is boned" base.
  8. Things seemed to be okay earlier today up until the update. Now I have relogged in like 20 times and every time I cannot interact with anything. It's weird because it doesn't seem like lag. I am not rubberbanding, I just can't interact with anything. Cannot open doors, climb ladders, etc.
  9. I built a tree the night the patch dropped. I also made some stockings. The stockings did produce coal. However the next day I checked the tree (24 hours later) and nothing. In fact the slot that was there was gone too. Also the stockings stopped producing coal. What I imagine happened is some geniuses decided to build like 10,000 stockings in their base to make coal, which probably crashed many servers so they disabled it. Maybe also the same logic for the tree. What happens if you have 20 trees? Do you get 20 gifts per day?
  10. I did the one in E5 (Center of the southwest side of Sinkasing Island). A few things I noticed that may make things easier. Take a boat with cannons or ballistas. I took a brig and my cannons and ballistas were on the back so I backed the boat in. You can back ALL the way in. It feels wrong, but nothing will aggro if you stay on the boat. Even the fire elementals were just passing through my boat. It's when you get off the boat things attack you. So basically I cleared out the beach and entrance leading to the cave. A lot of times I couldn't kill the gorgons before they got too close to the ship. No problem though, they stay aggroed on the ship for a while so you can just jump over them and run in. Also you can put a catapult on your ship to launch yourself from. Choose "load into catapult" and you will be placed in the catapult where you can aim it and launch yourself. Even better equip a glider and hit the spacebar when you reach max height. Might want to practice this somewhere else to get the hang of it. Also make sure if you set your crew to target or auto attack that they do not hit the fire elementals. They will wreck you. Stop them from firing when you see an elemental patrolling over. Do not even get off the ship if an elemental is nearby. Lastly you might be unlucky and end up with a lion or wolf near the cave entrance. Just kite it back to the ship instead of trying to run past it. At least then if you die you will be able to take them out with the ship.
  11. You can join another grid and it will still spawn you into E4. I did it last night and managed to get out and started a second base. This morning a company member told me they were able to do the same but can't interact with anything so they're pretty much stuck. Not sure how long they tried. For me there were very brief periods where you could do things.
  12. For the past hour I haven't even been able to rejoin. It's hard down. Guess I have to make another base and start using that when this grid's hemorrhoids flare up. Is this still some BS with the market system? Why are some grids so ruined and others not?
  13. It's been almost 24 hours since I opened the first ticket. Other players in the same grid have confirmed the same. E4 PvE is pretty much unplayable. The server ping isn't horrible but it freezes for like 14 seconds at a time about every 30 seconds. I opened a second ticket about six hours ago. How can we get this looked into?
  14. I was getting crashes too after the recent Nvidia driver update on a RTX 3080. I rolled them back to 457.51 and that fixed it. I'll probably skip the current driver and try the next one.
  15. I actually was half way through building a galleon. I finished all 52 gun ports then was about to put on the normal planks. I accidentally put a normal plank where a gun port was and couldn't pick it back up in time. So I went to demolish it and put a gun port plank back and as soon as I did I fell in the water. Turns out I was probably targeting the scaffolding around the ship and demolished the shipyard. Galleon was toast. No way to recover it but to salvage the planks for the materials and start over, including 50K more gold.
  16. Unless I'm missing something here, you don't make the ramming ship in the large shipyard. I actually followed someone's schooner to a freeport (C4) where he bought the ramming ship from the ship seller. It spawned right there, fully built. We had no need for a large shipyard. It was a bit of a farce though. He had put his gold in his cargo addons and since you can't dock there, he couldn't get the gold out. Fortunately I had 28K on board and gave him 22K gold that I didn't need.
  17. It's not hard to collect all the different vitamin types. Even as a level 1. Make spears, kill tier 1 mammals, go diving kill fish, and gather veg and berries. With that said I do put skill points into all three vitamin depletion reduction points. The main reason is when you are out at sea (the 100% debuff with the bubbles) you deplete vitamins even faster than when on land. The devs talk about how they want you to spend more time at sea and getting rid of this debuff would be a good step. Also remove the mechanic where the longer the crew is out at sea the more frequently they need gold. I rarely ever die to just vitamin deficiency alone. Actually extreme heat and cold are more of a problem for me at this point. Both can be easily solved by clothing or lack of and food. Spicy rolls when it's too hot and grog when it's too cold.
  18. The way I see it, it's actually something to do. Before I was just making brigs and galleons because I was bored. At least now I can more appreciate the ships more having invested actual time and gold into obtaining them. If you're solo\small groups chances are you're not going to be able to get an island anyhow. IMO lawless is better because I don't answer to anyone on what I build or where as long as I am not starting a feud with the neighbors.
  19. I'm in a desert biome and it never rains. So I went the route of stone reservoirs and pipes. I started off with only the one on the right side of the screenshot. It was piped to a faucet on the first floor and irrigation pipes on the roof for small crop plots. That worked fine for a while but then it was clear that was not enough. So then I built the one to the left and connected a straight pipe running under the wood ramp to the original reservoir. I was expecting that pipe to equalize the amount of water in both. It did not. Also the other two I built on the left of that are also imbalanced. Is this normal? I've seen screenshots of people with multiple reservoirs connected. Even people doing 3x3 squares. Do they just also not know how they work but they think they do? https://imgur.com/qy0nqTv
  20. This seems to be a new thing. I haven't collected treasure maps in a long time but I don't remember this ever being an issue until recently. While we're at it let's fix the shipwrecks that spawn halfway into a hill and you can't actually get into one. Had a 16.5 quality one of those on Sunday. Actually I found about 3-4 of them throughout the day.
  21. ROFL I saw this island too and was like wtf. I did not get out. I was there looking for wheatgrass.
  22. I've never seen it this bad. Sometimes it's okay but then others it's so bad. Like I am running from a schooner with 600 health because I have no cannons and it is taking so long I am ALT+TABed out while I write this. This is in E4. I've noticed D4 has been a red fire wall as well. This zone was pretty good all through last season until just before it was going to end. I attributed it to people just letting their tames wander and wreck the islands but it's back to being that bad again. Are there any good zones to relocate to?
  23. I don't even think the prices are appropriate for PvE. I've played this game somewhat casually as a one man show since launch. It's hard especially since you have to pick your skill tree very studiously since you won't have a full company with people with many skill sets. I've never had more than about 12K gold. Mostly because there was nothing to work towards other than buying tames. However now the tames are losing their value due to the farmhouses. So in that respect at least that gives gold more value but $25K for a brig is just silly. I mean why WHO is a pirate in a lawless area paying for the right to build a ship? Seems a little immersion breaking in a RPG. Put that on the people in the civilized grids to pay to their government. I think just give the option of either paying gold, or building with your mats, not both.
  24. Do we have an ETA of when the servers are going down and will be back up? I am keen to get on ASAP so I can get a good spot on an island I have been planning out.
  25. I assume you know where they spawn (assuming you're using the antihax map)? I've never seen one but honestly I've never looked for one. Never seen a whale either.
