  1. lots of people are sinking the ghost ships left and right. the green ones go down pretty easy. And if you are paying attention, you can easily avoid them in a sloop with one medium sail. The biggest risk areas are grid border crossings cause you dont know whats on the other side. Till they mitigate that somehow, recommend stopping on one side of the border and swimming across to see.
  2. Vocal minority, happy majority. There are thousands of folks enjoying playing and watching the game.
  3. Again, cannot park in freeport and not decay.
  4. Freeport decay is super fast so they are only visited, not used as safe havens.

  7. Handling sails allow you to turn faster, weight sails to carry more, speed sails to go faster.
  8. The game isnt meant to be a solo game, you want to play it solo, play on a private server. That said, you CAN play it solo, you just have to be aware of the limitations of doing so
  9. There is a company (currently in N9 on PvP NA) named the N word. This is uncalled for, and against TOS. Please give us an in game report feature for blatant cases of racism that dont even need to be investigated.
  10. You want 2.5x go to a private server, i want the pacing of a MMO which is what the official ones are meant to be, not instant gratification.
  11. Its only meant to build long enough to get a ship to leave. That was the intent. Lots of folks building there thinking they will make it permanent.
  12. Its is a MMO, not a MMORPG, there is a difference. But even if a MMORPG, quests are not a requirement. Players could make all the quests they want and provide rewards, thats the RP part of MMORPG. I dont know why you would even want the go here, kill 5 of these things, come back type quests, they are boring. Rather some company should say, "Go get me the head of the dread pirate burkeblack and I will reward you 1000 gold" etc.
  13. Quests are not a basic system of a MMO. They are a common one, but not required by any means. This is a MMO too, not a MMORPG. Even if it was a MMORPG, quests can be created by the RP part of MMORPG, as was done in games like Underlight where the players did the quests. I do not think they ever play more of a quest that the gather all power stones to summon the demon one.
  14. Private servers are your answer. That being said, yeah, PvE griefing is a pain, and it always is, coding to prevent griefing is always annoying. But it is just 7 days into a 2 year development period.
  15. Nitrado seems to be the favored provider, since they are the host for the official servers, bet they get a discount for providing nitrado patches quickly.
  16. First up, its like day 7 of a 2 year early access development period, they are testing systems now. Second, lawless zones are not meant to be built on for permanent occupation, heck, lawless zones are even meant to exist, they were put in solely to handle the inability of the designated Freehold zones to hold enough players (and you cant build there at all). It is like Eve in done fly what you cant afford to lose, but yeah, some additional safety would be nice, however even in Eve you are not 100% safe.
  17. Check out any of the x5 x10 x3 etc private servers. The official servers are set for a MMO pace.
  18. Wild, I have tested, wish i could tell you, but yeah, if solo, 1 definitely, but id still avoid slooping solo, at least get a npc to man the sail. Wow, nice work! And yeah, if they had been reasonable population you would cleaned up with 1 or 2 worth of loot.
  19. Losing a buff that you lose if you cant balance vitamins doesnt count I want it to not be a preferable mechanic that encourages raiding naked.
  20. I know there are a lot of issues, but death is a complete joke right now. Its 100% used by everyone as a way to remove any detrimental condition. This is a MMO, death is supposed to have meaning. Yes yes, ghost ships need to be fixed, and yes yes, it is pvp, but when you can respawn with no detriment it encourages naked fighting, because hey, there is nothing to lose.
  21. It really feels like either the 60% reduction didnt occur, or that if it did, they didnt remove existing spawns and we keep getting 40% more. They are everywhere, raft sailing is the only way right now sadly unless you are intentionally going out to hunt them.
  22. And go make a game to learn about the process. They said EA. It is. They said a 2 year development process, its been 6 days. So rather than just insulting people to make a point, provide proof. Right now they are still making daily patches, every one of which addresses player feedback. And this through a Christmas holiday. Sorry the game isnt ready for you, but they told you prior to your buying it that it would be 2 years to get it ready.
  23. You're right, they are ignoring us, even though there have been multiple daily patches addressing player feedback. Yeah, ghost ships need more tuning, but for all we know the ghost ships that remain were there prior to the reduction in spawn rate.
  24. To my knowledge if you are going to sloop you 100% want 1 crewman per mast, 1 for helm. Can be NPCs if needed. And yes, 1 med speed or 2 small speeds. So far, with the way sailing it, its seldom maneuverability that gets you killed, more often its the inability to run. All that said, till they turn down ghost ship spawn rates, im leaving my sloop in port. You can do it, its just not fun. 1 or 2 ghost ships per grid would be ok, 3-4 right on top of you everytime you go anywhere is a huge hassle.
  25. yeah, id even be ok with it still needing the loom for the sails but yeah, the progression should go (imho), dingy, raft, skiff, sloop, etc The raft as is sails way to fast for its water dynamics, but its what we have right now.
