  1. Just like ARK, the devs are using early access as their public alpha testing, meaning this is still fairly early in their development phase. They are still implementing many features of the game and they add these features as they have them available. I don't necessarily like the order in which they add things(fountain of youth when most players are 90+), but I'm still enjoying my time in the game, and for the most part I like the general direction of the game. For all the people that complain about the current state of the game, come back in a couple months after they release a couple more major content patches and wipe the server and start fresh again.
  2. So quit, and stop bitching on the forumns
  3. Common treasure maps are pretty easy to solo and still give enough gold to maintain a small crew.
  4. I'm curious how I aged 73 years in 800 days, based on the server days.
  5. Im running Centos 7.6.1810, and I've been able to run ark with out a problem for a little over a year. I get the following when starting atlas. Arrows

Yellow arrows mean they are ignoring group whistle commands.
  7. The fact that the land is being taxed means that they have claim flags down. Unless they specifically allow you to build in that area, you can't lay down pillars or foundations. If they do allow you to build there and you fuck over their resources, than you're a cunt, and they can just revoke your ability to build. Your plan is flawed and wouldn't work, get back on your boat and find your own land.
  8. considering the game has been out for almost a month, it doesn't surprise me that space near spawn points are all taken. If you want a place to call your own, you're going to have to travel, and take some space in a less than desirable region.
  9. bit of a one sided poll you got there.
  10. Big island on K3 is where I'm at, and it's a decent spot. seen a lot of people show up in the last couple weeks but there might be some space, at the very least fairly friendly people.
  11. The tundra region I'm in doesn't have any fiber, I just take a bear to a bordering region an collect 100k fiber and bring it back. You're making a mistake if you expect to find everything you need in one grid, you have to travel to get resources, that's just how the game is laid out.
  12. When I realized that I needed multiple types of resources for blueprints, I decided to pick up and move to a region that bordered multiple biomes, this result in me settling in the tundra, not quite as bad as polar, but I was able to find a place to set up in a couple hours of searching. I just landed on an island and ran around with my flag out and waited for it to turn blue.
  13. Additionally with alphas, even passive alphas will attack you if you aggro an animal of their type. if you spook a horse or monkey any nearby alphas of those types will become aggressive. if you attack a cow nearby bulls will attack, this includes non alpha bulls. I lost a bunch of animals because a horse walked to close and spooked itself, causing an alpha to attack them.
  14. You should also get into a habit of keeping backup weapons near your bed, having a bow and some arrows makes corpse runs easier, you can pick off the predators and reclaim your shit.
  15. Wolves, lions, and tigers are slow in water, if you get chased pull them into the water and shoot them in the head with a bow. Crocs are slow on land but fast in the water, avoid water and again use a bow. Snakes have a janky hit box aim at their lower jaw for headshot damage. Right now bows are your best bet for survival, just make sure you keep it repaired, it takes about 60 shots to break with normal arrows and 40 with fire arrows. if you get crocs and wolves/lions/tigers at the same time, you're pretty much SoL.
  16. considering they wanted 40k people on a cluster, I don't think there are enough people to justify an additional server cluster. The current servers appear to be cluttered because of the current claim system, but as I travel around I don't really see more than 40-50/150 people on a grid and my grid in the tundra never has more than 30 and frequently less than 20.
  17. it works against animals like monkeys that run away if you get to close when trying to tame.
  18. The game saves on a set schedule. If they don't execute a save world command before redeploying or if the server crashes unexpectedly, you will always get rolled back to the last save point. As far as I can tell they never save world before redeploying the servers. Having gone through repeated server crashes in the early days, I always get rolled back to the same point until the game saves again.
  19. it rolls back to the last save point, it's not in any way random.
  20. All admins are required to take a class on cyber security and proper password management.
  21. Atlas is an ARK pirate mod with fantasy elements.
  22. ERR MAH GERD, there's something in the game I don't like! Grapeshot remove it now!!!
