  1. As ^%&*ing title. Thanks for wasting my time with buggy patches. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1735772654 Only had a couple of levels on it.
  2. Our modern day gardner engined fishing boat only did 6 knots at its best speed. 8 knots is flying lol.
  3. Yeh we've had a few where someone got caught with a group on a ledge and nearly died he had to use his rejuv. Most of us have at least adv heal for the tames, but I rarely use it. I never use the feats much, since I forget they're even there during fights. You can do this on some islands, on most the foundation spam is so insane you can't build anywhere. The idea is obviously intent on us using climbing picks and full armour etc and fighting the undead without bears.. but who does maps without bears.. seriously. noone.
  4. Anyone taken on the yetis yet? They seem pretty tough even using carbines. Gorgons are two headshots.. Fire not tried tho yet. But we did watch 5 guys with bows killing them. Hydra a mix of cannon, ballistra and using carbines worked, although it was in water, so easy killing really. Not met a cyclops, mermaids are nice. And yeti's pawned me.
  5. Umm.. tames ARE your wheelbarrows and machines.. only better. My wheelbarrow won't defend me if I get mugged. Nothing beats a rock climbing giraffe tho.
  6. Yeh if they added golden age groupies into the skill it might be worthwhile. The harder maps I've not seen yet, lv 89 baddies is worst and they were easy with 5 bears..
  7. Grappling hook. Or build wood ladders upwards from deck, then at max height place rope ladders down from nest. Also helps to park it alongside a dock that has a tower on it, and place from higher up. But the grappling hook works best.
  8. Yeh I agree that it isn't realistic, but by the time you put the cannons in, build the rear structure for the chasing cannons, get all your ammo in, get your exploration gear in, food, crewmen, beds, repair gear and resources, spare planks etc.. The bloody ship is full. And now you want the guns even heavier.. no thanks. I like my 15 rear facing gun crew. Makes short work of sotd and leaves me to explore more without harrassment. I do think maybe you shouldn't be able to place them so close to each other.. but don't make em heavier.. or at least not until the sotd spawns are fixed. Trying to deal with 15 sotd + loot + managing ammo.. incl making more, people falling overboard, people jumping overboard.. to fight fish.. people using all your ore to make more balls then wondering why we can't repair the hull anymore.. Enough to worry about. Not to mention bloody rocks in the shallows that aren't even marked on the map.
  9. Most people don't use points 1-5 they go for 6 speed sails, max out weight and sink alot. Or seems that way to me. I'm not overly bothered atm, as it seems everyone is quitting around me, so I'm slowly getting my island back.
  10. You're not taking encounters, like weather, sotd into account, changes in wind speed, direction etc. The guys around here with 6 speed sails are all speeding straight into sotd and getting hammered, where as I am slower.. no doubt, but I can move around them and dodge them. Similarly in cyclones I can dodge between them they get hit because they can't turn in time. More agility is more important to me, plus the ability to actually go where I want instead of making huge tacking runs to try to get around the wind, although I'll admit in long trips, someone tacking north west then cutting east, often arrives at around the same time I do sailing north east almost into the wind. In a straight line, speed sails with the wind behind you, so you get max speed, then yeh.. you go faster, but if you find yourself hammering straight into 2-3 sotd gallys and slam into them.. well that's because you chose speed over agility. And judging from the number of gallys I've salvaged lately, they're all speed sails. Stuck on sandbars, smashed by whales or sotd. All because they couldn't turn or stop in time. If you get a clear break you can run between them and escape for sure. But the risk of losing everything, or at least a gally.. with it's 300k base resource input isn't worth it imo. I do agree that weight sails need to be tinkered with, but they don't need to be removed from gameplay. Handling sails also need some changes as do speed sails esp cosmetically, in the way they're turned, as no ship ever made in the time period these ships are supposed to be, could ever turn it's square sails so they were running bow to stern. (more modern ships can) Yet you can do that in atlas.. don't hear any complaints then do you.
  11. I have 3 galleons, 1 is pure weight sail. Go away and back under your rock. speed isn't important. Getting from A to B is. Weight sails change the way the ship deals with weight when underway, They aren't supposed to increase weight as much as assist in increasing speed by balancing the weight, in the same way as opening or closing your gunports. A balance of sails weight speed and handling makes a gally capable of sailing against the wind, leaving more rapidly, turning more rapidly to escape as well as benefiting from speed sails. These threads however are only about getting there faster, sailing completely against the wind ie ignoring the rules of the game. Travel takes time and adding to how interesting that travel is, is more important than getting from A to B instantly. The only truth in your post is that speed sails, with the wind, make you go faster.. going faster however, isn't the aim of sailing. Your turning circle for example is absolutely massive if you go pure speed.
  12. Weight sails are excellent, I'm getting abit tired of reading all these noob threads about sails. Handling sails are excellent as well. Esp on an overloaded gally trying to get home against the wind. Adding the other types would be useful in their own case, and the handling sail should be correctly orientated in regards to the speed sails.. which just don't really work unless the wind is somewhere behind you. The speed sails are really the ones that should be removed.

  14. The option is highlighted, I have materials to make about 20 of them. But it just won't let me build it, I can make wooden chairs no problem, but not the wooden table. Relogging had no effect. About 15 mins later I got this crash to desktop Now I can make wooden tables.
  15. As title, but it appears that for animals on ships, it appears out of the side of the animal or under the head. Possibly linked to tame collision issues.
  16. Yeh the problem is, you get some noob hit J and all your crewmen go chasing after them.. So we set crewmen to ignore all group orders. This then means on using captains orders to unseat that we can't then whistle all passive. There needs to be a completely seperate capt order to just unseat/reseat crewmen, and not change the current aggression level. The current system is purely designed for pvp gameplay, to allow all crewmen to get into the fight if there's ship to ship melee combat. This is completely useless in pve or pvpve.
  17. Can login now. Ship is safe, and unseated. Time to sleep myself now.
  18. There are the odd wrecks that are being spawned too far into the seabed, the odd one, i'd say maybe in my experience, 1 in 7 or so. Fortunately they've all been like 3.4s or so. I'd hate to find a high lvl one and not be able to get into it.
  19. Lets see what happens with the bigger islands, I'd like to see varied region sizes, some with bigger landmasses ie continents and others with islands etc.
  20. Cool cheers for quick reaction.
  21. According to my mates on the gally, I keep popping in, standing still for 10 mins then leaving again. But at my end I get the error msg.
  22. That 67mb patch has killed my game, gally is sitting in middle of ocean atm as well.
  23. Same error as well on reboot of pc. Also got msg saying I was already logged in. So giving it 10mins to sort itself out then will try once more then validate. Fatal error!
