  1. Implementing carebear changes to a PvP game is probably the worse mechanics you can implement. The current state of the game would be better than invuln. More people would leave the game if invuln was implemented over what is currently happening. Again, there are servers with offline protection available for people that can’t handle PvP servers. We chose to setup in a region that does not interest people and has extremely harsh environment for protection, and it’s paying off. If you dont have the people to look after your base on down tomes, then maybe you should rethink your strategy or even living in high profile areas until you can actually defend.
  2. Invest in defences / strategic locations. I have a cliff base I dont really go to that has never been raided in a month
  3. cant have it all, you get good ship part bps and NPCs from SotD. I think whale hunting and maps should be main source as it requires more effort to do.
  4. Upkeep on bases would become a nightmare. sometimes you cant clip structures to your base so it is improvised (gaps under gates blocked w foundations and whatnot) and small mining outposts, cannonades, towers...
  5. Diving attachment or submarine and go diving for coral. We are getting coral in the polar region. Diving has also been buffed this patch for survivability.
  6. metal structures would be stupid in a pirate themed game.
  7. Speculation, doubtful that's the reason for the change. Players are still going to make tons of walls despite the change. Organic paste cost also makes the resource a valuable trading commodity.
  8. I only suffer from server overload lag (too many players). Rendering things arent difficult, and I dont even have that good of a computer. Pretty sure Atlas isn't meant to be played on a potato - devs shouldn't have to accommodate for players with garbage or outdated computers.
  9. use cannons for ships. most of the time even having 8 cannons on a cannonade makes people think twice about attacking infrastructure. It's a lot harder to break stone than it is to break boats with cannons. Can also use height advantage to counter the range of large cannons.
  10. Puckle guns have been insanely buffed by making NPCs invulnerable. This is the ultimate offline player protection without breaking the PvP balance.
  11. Piracy, it's the second skill to the right. Good to have 1-2 spare in chests in any ships. If you find sunken ships at sea you can salvage them for phat loot
  12. Use the scuba attachment, or now the submarine
  13. Really? hmm, I'm not our coral gatherer, but we have them in the Polar region, surprising they wouldnt be in Tundra. Have you looked in deeper waters?
  14. Have you checked for corals in the sea? You dont even need fibers to make paste with it.
  15. SoTD are easy to dodge, they have very little aggro range and most ships can outrun them if you dont manage weight, even if 75% filled, and maintain repair on panels and whatnot.
  16. No we are not screwed. We are in a southernmost polar island and we have access to organic paste here (corals), with the submarine it's going to be a lot easier. We know of an infinite organic paste sources (6 zones away). We just go stock up and mass craft paste with like 5 mortar/pestles. They have also buffed wood structures considerably, with the fire nerf, it would make it easy to build accessory structures (ports, docks, animal gates) with wood structures rather than stone. Also the Puckle Gun buff (NPC invuln) reduces the amount of space I have in my pants.
  17. would be cool if they left BPs w/o the metal/paste cost or w/o the paste cost to reward people using common BPs, would also make common BPs valuable for trade
  18. Stone structures should be easier to make if anything, not harder. I dont mind the change, but i'd rather promote players to make creative and intricate builds over make it harder to do so. I do agree, though, that stone structures need to be more expensive than wood structures (somehow the price is very similar, somehow) Wow tone it down man, devs are experimenting with changes, you dont need to insult them.
  19. There are plenty of ways to defend an area against ships and infrastructure, but I feel puckle guns are, decent, but underwhelming. Would be awesome if you could set NPCs to use bows/carbines, we could setup towers, perches, and cliff bases to oversee docks and pick off any asshole trying to burn down a fleet while the players are offline. Something along the lines of putting the carbine with ammunition (or even a gun ammunition box for the structure) and set the NPC to patrol or even guard a window or half wall.
  20. or just go on a PvE server/unofficial server with offline protection. Hardcore PvP players actually enjoy the thrill of risk/reward. One thing I do agree with there is not enough automated defense against players (there are plenty against ships and infrastructure). If the devs could find a way for NPCs to use carbines/bows, I believe there would be enough protection for ships (set towers/cliff platforms near a port).
  21. We are accepting tenants on our island. Polar region
  22. Hunted down a whale, rinded some boat parts, made a new trade partner, finished my battle brig and faught some SoDs with it. Went to bed at 4am, looking forward to tonight XD
  23. Great game. When I’m done basebuilding I’m going to have tons of fun in naval pve/pvp. fighting SODs is like mini chess games on water. Love it
  24. Monkeys make sure you dont have fleas in your hair
