  1. This a massive problem. A single foundation (of even a chest on the ground, w/16 day timer may I add) will stop resource respawn in a large area. So, because of all the scattered single foundations, this means NO ONE CAN BUILD ANYTHING OR EVEN COOK FOOD because once a tree is gone, it's gone. Also, WTF can't we use coal as fuel?
  2. 215+ hours since release, this patch does it for me, see you when the resource respawn and temperature penalties are back the way they were. I could deal with all the bugs and imbalances when the game had visual appeal, but now that it looks like a razed junkyard, no thanks.
  3. What detail, that the islands are different? Does that need to be said? I thought everybody knew that. I said I wasn't dumb, not that I'm smart. And if answering op's question with my personal experience is bragging, I guess I was, but that wasn't my intention.
  4. Oh the progress one can make when one's not obsessively moaning on the forum. What a difference a weekend can make. (the stone building and shipyard in the background belong to the neighbors)
  5. This is not a gitgud game, it's a get smart game, that was my point. Is melee viable? Yes, under the right conditions. Could you fight off a 300lb lion with a bow or sword? Maybe, but you would probably be mortally wounded if you managed to kill it. Could you fight off 2 or more, very unlikely. This game is about knowing your surroundings, your condition, and your capabilities. This isn't gauntlet, you don't wade in and start slashing. You observe from a distance and move in where appropriate. And yes, everyone gets caught out sometimes. To you gun wielders, just be glad your flint doesn't break as often and you don't have to keep your powder dry. Don't get me wrong, I agree that much needs to be done in the way of balance.
  6. The only ships I've lost on PVE are the ones I forgot to anchor.
  7. I have snakes, crocs and tons of vultures, also fn bees. They are not a problem.
  8. I never said I don't have a problem fighting anything. I'm just not stupid enough to live in a place with op things that I have no chance in winning against. This game requires at least half a brain to get by.
  9. The one I had the misfortune of landing on had fire and earth elementals, lions, wolves, giant snakes and crocs, and that's just what I saw from the shore. It took me half an hour or more just to get away from there with my gear and a fire elemental chased me about a kilometer out to sea.
  10. Don't live in those places if you're solo or a small group.
  11. I'm afraid that's the case, unless someone else knows differently.
  12. If there is no one to ask you to join the company you are out of luck, I do believe.
  13. My PVE char is about to hit level 45 and he has never fired a gun. I use the bow (w/stone arrows) and wear plate (but with the pirate hat). I rarely get knocked out. When my bow breaks or I run out of arrows I use my sword. I can go days without dieing, and when I do, it's because I wasn't paying attention.
  14. Wait till ye starve. Or hope a snake comes to visit.
  15. Wow, thanks for explaining to me what single player means, I never would have known otherwise. I was just countering percy's point, seeing as THERE IS NO SINGLE PLAYER RIGHT NOW, lolz. And would it be cost free, did the devs tell you that? Last I checked, and as so many on this forum like to point out, this is an MMO, not a single player game.
  16. 10 euro, a couple of cups of coffee, and you can literally test things out without being bothered, just like OP wants.
  17. So you have no birds either I suppose, or any possibility of any animal that might take issue with snakes. Oh well I guess you're screwed, have a nice day.
  18. Once the bigs and griefers get board and quit, the lands will open up and the looting of the abandoned will become the adventure for the littles and solos.
  19. Like I said, there were no rhinos on my island, now there are, and they stomp the shit out of snakes and crocs.
  20. I think 100 shots/string would make more sense. I have a bow irl that's 60+ years old, 1000s of shots and it's still good as day one. Strings, on the other hand, they break. ~100 shots/string (more for higher quality), 10 fiber/string, 20-30 string/stack, 10 second string change would be a good solution. Low weight, no repair required.
  21. It's currently a 25-35 minute respawn on trees. That is, after about 25 minutes a window opens for random respawn of a particular tree. Don't know of any command to force it.
  22. if you keep beating them down the tide will turn. I have groups of crows and seagulls that actively go after snakes. I have rhinos where there weren't any, and they stomp snakes quickly and effectively. The elephants and rhinos also go after the crocs. I've been in the same spot for a week and only in the last couple of days I realized how different it was now.
  23. Aye, but on the other side I hear tell of a golden land with unlimited resources, strong wind, clear skies and creatures that fear to tread in your presence.
  24. In populated areas the problem with aggressive creatures can be mitigated by allowing their natural predators to thrive. This means, don't kill the seagulls, crows, elephants, rhinos, ostriches, bulls, or other friendly creatures and it will, over time, keep the other creatures somewhat in check. You will still get small waves, but typically the levels of those waves will be lower and their numbers fewer. At least, this has been my experience.
