  1. As someone with experience in both I can say that heroin is the lesser of two evils and probably the overall healthier choice.
  2. It was just an example of how big streamers with huge zerg guilds are not correctly utilizing their players and the tame limit helps enforce then doing it.
  3. Yeah. I'm sure that will stable out over time and performance increases, hopefully. Still though that's all part of my point. I'm just glad there is SOME limitation on 500 man streamer zerg guilds. NPC's are mainly meant as assistance to those who don't have a ton of real people. It's specifically so a few people can still man a brig, etc. Streamers have lots of players available and therefore shouldn't be relying on NPCs. They should utilize all those people.
  4. People love to be slaves for streamers. Anything for that attention. The best bang for the buck experience in regards to mechanic limitations is going to be a medium company. If you assume a galleon takes 50 NPC's to have it fully loaded out (obviously its not exactly 50, but its an easy and close number to work with) that's 16 galleons before limit hit assuming no other NPCs or tames. That's quite the war navy... for the streamer and his few friends anyway... Or it's a nice mixed fleet with tons of variation for different people, tower defense npcs, tames, etc. Those big clans need to consolidate if they want to have a big navy and invest more in players having roles instead of npcs. You can utilize like 60 people + on a galleon but every time you see a streamer in a big clan running one you see them plus maybe 10 people on it and a shitload of npcs.
  5. This. Time to start culling all your extra animals you don't really need, stop giving each person their own boat with a full load of NPCs, or leave the late shift and form some smaller companies.
  6. Masts have zero clipping as scotty said, even on the largest boats. All that matters is if the boat is slim enough to get through the sides.
  7. Bears are pretty amazeballs for general haul runs. Elephants if you are transporting a lot of wood. We have a level 60 bear that has about 1200 carry weight and we didn't even level it all in that stat. You can move quite a bit of stuff with just a few bears, or a single bear with a few trips.
  8. You can squeeze up to a brig through a large gate. It will be a super tight squeeze but you definitely can do it. Schooner will of course be much easier. NPC's can't be assigned to mortars for some reason. Only cannons and swivel/puck guns. Ship resource boxes can be placed anywhere you can normally build stuff. We use them in crafting rooms and in an admin locked room for storage. Makes it a lot easier to manage raw resources (but a lot easier for people to popcorn your shit if they break in on PVP, so make sure its secure). Larder boxes also can be placed anywhere and work. Both are required to put NPCs on cannon/gun towers. They work similiar to a feed trough for animals with a globe radius around it for what it covers. NPC's are expensive to leave on swivels btw. Since you're playing pve swivels are pretty much useless, but cannons could work against SoTD.
  9. The difference being each individual grid in this game is like one ark server. So even with massive guilds they will still war each other, have people living with them they are taxing, etc.
  10. There is still land in the tundra and polar regions and areas where tiny clans of a few people dropped huge amounts of claims. They wouldn't be able to stop you from taking some. Those regions are brutally hard though. Highly unlikely any alliance or guild is going to let you take a claim as a solo player. They would much rather have a small guild take a claim beause that benefits them more in both defense and taxes. One person is just low value for the amount of land it takes. Other options is you look around the recruiting forums on here and reddit and see if there are any semi friendly companies that allow building by anyone or by allies that will let you build on their claims without giving it up.
  11. I like the gliders but they need to be nerfed. They should have a far increased degradation in use, shorter possible distance (no pulling up to gain elevation) and should have extreme weight limits on them so you can basically just carry enough gear to be shock troops at best. no carrying tons of explosives and such.
  12. This is a designed mechanic. It's a great way to ensure someone isn't available to defend their base or ship. sprint and jump until stam is gone then keep doing it until you die. Or use mic to annoy them so much they let you die, usually by just being ultra annoying. Blaring super triggering noises usually works.
  13. Did you kill the boss of the island? I know you need an ancient key from it for some stage of the stone grabbin. Not sure if its just to get in the cave or if its to open the actual pedestal though.
  14. The fix that just happened was a maaaassssiiivve exploit. People literally flying around and destroying any and everything with a single command. Similar to admin mode + destruction. Some things are important enough to not wait for a normal patch time and need to get rolled out asap. Videos all over reddit if you want to see. As for the announcement stuff, they are huge clusters of servers and it happens in a rolling method so sometimes it takes 30 minutes+ to get from whatever server they started with on the map to the one your on. And as someone else said, its still early access and the beginning of it even so expecting any sort of stability, whether in game or in schedule, is a bit silly.
  15. A medium gate would be amazeballs.
  16. Even with the missing commas you would still be wrong. I run around our lion and wolf infested island all day harvesting with just tools, hide armor, bow and a sword or pistol and 2h mace. I rarely die to wildlife other than alphas, lag or a dumb mistake I made. Most of the time just being careful and looking out for stuff and killing it from a distance is good enough. Even when you do die its pretty easy to get your corpse back by just running near, agroing and running far away a few times until their wander zone is far enough from your original corpse. Wolves need to be tuned down a little, but not a ton, and they are not nearly as bad as the hyperbole makes it appear from forum posts.
  17. Alpha animals in ark were also OP as fuck. They are like mini-bosses and give the XP to match. You would make multiple bows and sit on a rock with hundreds of arrows to kill them most of the time until you got a super high level powerful dino to take em out with. This game lacks those dinos but working with your group, using terrain and pathing to your advantage, etc are all still viable. Fire arrows are super broken for sure, even after their nerfs. Specifically the fire damage it causes to players when they are lit up. It takes 2 arrows to kill someone, covers your screen in first person, are insanely easy to craft and take out alpha animals in just a few arrows as well. Alphas needs to be toned down for sure. Guns need to be buffed for sure. Fire arrows need to be scaled so they still do decent damage to ships or wood structures but far less to players that catch on fire. Melee is completely pointless except in very very specific niche scenarios.
  18. The point that anyone who isn't complaining is a liar... right.
  19. I despise the groaning. Not the first few, or even the overall sound, its how fast it repeats. They could just make it groan like every 20 seconds and it would be so much more tolerable. You generally take a long time to die when you go under 30 health from something like starvation or even worse, if you get brought down super low like 1hp from a fall, then slowwwwwllly regen up above 30 health to make it stop. It can take a few minutes of nonstop, ear grating, grrooaaaann.. uuurrrggggghhh, aaaaagggghhhhhh,, uurrrrrgggghhh, aahhhhhgggghhh The *BEST* option would be to create a new sound slider for it, lump the groaning, starvation, dehydrated, snoring, under 30 health (broken bones icon), etc all to only that slider so people can adjust it themselves to a tolerable level. Then also spread the sounds out with longer pauses in between them as mentioned above. We have a lot of visual cues on the screen when the stuff happens, and HUD notifications. Shorter sound duration would still give some 'effect' but annoy far far less.
  20. Also, for PVP servers, people would abuse the pve zone rules and use ships to store stolen loot or super important stuff they want protected from raids. Goes against the ideals of a survival pvp game.
  21. If they just give us a slider to specifically control the snoring/self hurt/starving audio via its own slider but not change it in the game then everything is fine. Each person can choose if they want to hear it or not but it doesn't affect the rest of the players hearing you. So PVPers can still search for bodies via snorespam and such.
  22. Cannons are designed to do siege damage and suck against players and creatures. It's specifically like that because otherwise sea combat would only be who got the first shot off as every crew member on the receiving end dies. They do need to add the anti-personal guns to the cargo saddle options as well as some more non-combat things like chests and such.
