I kinda figured that's how they would do the PVE claim flags. Same as the PVP. Glad I made the choice to go with lawless. I'm not a babysitter, nor do I want to spend all my time grinding gold to pay for someone else to live on my island. Can someone confirm that the structures that others build have a 4 day decay timer or not without owner destroying them?

They did add back in alliances to PVE. From what we can tell. Same as old Lawless. 4 days. No extra fluff involved. I found a spot in N2 that seems to have most of the things you'll need. Originally on PVE I had bases in L10 and N14. PVP PTR I tried out F4. Kinda floating all over the map. But from my experience I enjoy the tundra more then anything. It's quiet. Things aren't quite as lethal. Dodging mean whales and sotd's to get cobalt and tin is quite the adventure! I coulda had about a dozen islands of all sizes within the first hour of being logged in. Not even a treasure map done and I had over 200 gold. Flotsam and the ship wrecks are a good source of newbie income. I don't think they are with the 6x right now. It's what you see is what you get. Small island would easily be affordable with just that alone for several days. Now the girly girl that I am. Ran straight to freeport got crew and the Light Cyclops outfit-I know...if im gonna die im gonna look tribal doing it. SoTD's seem to have been toned down. I decided to make the run through one of the golden age ruins. Got fired upon by a Lvl 34 Galleon. Schooner survived. My issue with the current system- ok granted i'm a technical no lifer. Gimpy married military wife. I don't want to spend every minute breaking down stuff that people builid. Nor do I want to be a dictator-if I wanna be El Presidente. I play Tropico. Most people have a thing against the Tundra. Really not sure why. So you get a bear. Farm a ton of resin/or the like. Put 4 mortar/pestles on you ship. Stop at a freeport gather a ton of fiber and before you know it. Well you are swimming in paste. Ok so now you have to go to west tundra to do it. I had to hit about 5 grids before I found some syrup. Out of my element up here. Seems to be about even so far on PVE PTR. Plenty of islands left to grab but I think some are like me-been through the claim flag crap repeatedly and choose to go lawless for awhile. I know this is a bad test ground since the PTR won't have the player base. But im pretty confident-I probably won't have a lot of neighbors up here even with live. I'm stuck inbetween a rock and a hard place. Come Mid July we are getting stationed in Washington State. I know I wont have a comp for awhile or internet-hotel internet is rather crappy from what I can recall. So for me knowing that I could be gone up to a month. Lawless is going to work. I'm ok with starting over repeatedly. Hey its a game and keeps me amused during deployments. Ok wait-if you build on someone elses Settlement there is decay like your living in lawless? PVP PTR I had my own island... I so have to go check this out after I get settled on N2.

Anyway to disable the stupid camera mode with the map? Wondering if im just blind and missed it. I keep getting stuck in it and right control isn't getting me out of it. I have to die to constantly reset it.

Getting some resin before I venture to a lawless to find out if its old system or new. Had to get some critters first cause building is so much easier with an elephant and rhino. SoTDs seem to be fixed haven't encountered massive clusters yet. Traveled about 5 grids now

Hahah I was on PVE got griefed and griefed and griefed again. When I tried to give up claim flags to nice people. Asian asshats would sit there and block the claim. Just terrible. I don't think much will change with the new system. They'll find new ways to grief. Yeah someone might block me in on Lawless. But not being a slave to babysitting a buncha people. Totally worth it.

v320 - Can no longer build on Freeports or Golden Age Grids Lol wonder if they are gonna wipe out those grids. Cause I seen some galleons going up in some of the freeports. Might suck to be them.

Travelling around the PVP PTR. Buncha islands up for claim all over. Not just polar regions. Hell Im in J6 rightnow on an island that's claimable. Land is available. People are just finding out rather quickly. The cost of a claim isn't worth it for everyone. Now this is at 6x. Imagine at 1x what this will be like. I don't agree with the 50% tax. I could get my own island and hold my own island as a solo/small company person. Now do I want to go that route. Rightnow im gonna test lawless as soon as the PVE PTR comes up. People are so hellbent on a claim flag. It's not a bed of roses like you think. I actually slept great lastnight when I made the decision to not go a claim flag route for PVE PTR. I had claims from day 1. encountered the no sleep/griefing issues. Im not sure I want to go back to those issues.

I think the freeport thing is just in while we are in testing. I think they wanted to see what people would do. Apparently people are idiots.

Eh Meercat that's always been a problem. I cross zones at an angle now for some reason you don't get hit quite as bad or they don't hit at all

I just think claimed islands are gonna be a grief fest. Id rather not deal with it personally. I had enough of that before the claim flags were changed multiple times. People always seemed happier on lawless islands. Im guessing the claim flags are gonna be nearly identical on PVE as they are on PVP. Anyone can build etc with high tax rates. Low tax rates are gonna be swamped.

We are still wating on the PVE PTR to find out if there will be a resource structure or not. As for PVP. There wasn't anything like that. I to am thinking of going lawless. I had the whole claim flag. I don't want to make this game a job. Owning an island-well its a job!

Hahahah even before the SoTD changes that's how it was in N15 and O15. I pretty much swore off of ever going into O15 again after 3 red sotds and 2 mean whales wrecking my beloved brig. There wasn't enough cannons onboard to take that hot mess out. Now with Galleons. Im afraid. As I watched my brig sink with the whales coming in. I was humming Powerman 5000's When Worlds Collide song.

I love the player to player trading system. It's quite nice.

The system isn't bad. But it isn't great either. People are gonna be bitching left and right cause they don't have a claim flag. I think the griefing is going to increase on claimed islands for PVE. Time will tell. But whatever they do they need to make a decision and stick with it. They say they are doing what players want but there is more dissention now then before with the claim flag issues. I was honestly ok with the building Upkeep. I thought it was a great idea to dissuade pillar/foundation bombing. Making players police the islands. Well most people are lazy and don't want to have a job in a video game that should be relaxing.

I think you might be right cause I had 23 on my island even though it was just me. Maybe 23 people fell asleep on my island. Gold upkeep always stayed at 61/12 hours no matter what.

You and me both. But I've tested in 2 lawless spots on PVPvE. Both just had the 4 day decay. No more no less. I checked daily to see if it needed repairs. Nada. So you have a choice it looks like. Spend your days farming gold to pay upkeep, rent from someone and probably get slammed with 30-50% tax or live on lawless. At 6x. Treasure maps were easy. I made over 5k gold in a few hours. Ok so I wasn't a good little pvp girl and didn't build defensive structures which is what made me lose my island. But running around on my search for the new CamelGazelle thinger and the Ankylosarus like thing (never found them) didn't check all golden age ruins though. Still lots of spots for people to claim if you look. Gold Upkeep is kinda a pain but I kinda like it. Big islands are expensive so people will be able to settle before someone is able to keep the upkeep on that going. Now what they tax after is anyones guess. I couldn't get the wheel for destroying some foundations people left behind to work since those were placed before my claim flag. So if you build before someone claims it looks like you might be safe.

No hon they aren't. But people forget about treasure maps. I couldn't confirm whether those were indeed going to the claim flag cause well I lost my island hehehehe. I never did get to see if more people meant lower upkeep cause no one wanted my non metal rich island at 5% tax rate. It looks like claim flags only have a radius of so far if im getting that correctly. You'd need to build tax banks to collect on bigger islands. I was trying to see if you could add gold to peoples flags but unfortunately most people have their claim flags behind buildings. I finally gave up and decided to do some baking. There is also no upkeep on your buildings which I thought they were supposed to implement.

Lol cause not everyone knows that I think the main company HQ is located in Seattle. Although don't quote me on that.

Honestly after having land on PTR and the game before the wipe. I'm thinking lawless is the way to go. I honestly don't care about a claim flag. They put in cute little decorative claim flags anyways. As long as I have a spot to build a base. To me having a claim flag is just a headache and a lot of work. If I get lucky enough to find a small island when it goes live. Great. I can manage that. If not. I'll go to lawless. Cause tax rates are insane and not worth it to me.

Still 2+ years in Early Access. It's got a long way to go.

Dunno yet hon. PVE PTR isn't up yet. Im guessing since you couldn't change it on PVPvE. It's probably not gonna be changeable on PVE. I think that's the direction they are trying to go. That is what keeps going through my head if you can't change it to company only or allied.

Has anyone seen any of the new animals yet? If so where are they?
