  1. I bet he also doesn't realize a longer barrel will give more velocity.
  2. You've completely missed the point there champ. Explain to me why I can't raid online players on a PVP server.
  3. Now hold on a minute in post after post recently you have stated that I am a "PVO" players while you are the true PVP player and yet here we have it in your words you saying that you don't like PVP and would rather avoid it. Why don't you do everyone here a favor and go do some base building on some quaint PVE server and let the real warriors have their battles they enjoy on PVP servers.
  4. The problem with the new system is say your sailing around you come across a base. You whip out your spyglass and see its poorly defended full of silly aesthetic features and you think to yourself i bet some PVE noob built this will be an easy raid. So you sail up to it with your warship and the enemy players man their cannons and start shooting at you. You shoot back but oh whats this your not doing any damage to them? Ah then you remember with the new system you have to send them a polite message telling them you'll be attacking them tomorrow at noon, plz be ready for us...
  5. Don't worry Mr PVE outed himself in another thread. He linked a video showing all his bases he built from ARK. It's like a collage of some of the most inefficient, poorly designed, poorly defended PVE bases you'll ever come across in a video game. Here is the video. Try not to laugh although I will admit it is quite hard not to:
  6. LOL I am sorry but with that video you have revealed yourself to be a textbook PVE player and most likely some kind of role player as well. When I think of how a stereotypical PVE player would build their base in ARK your video now provides me with loads of fresh new examples to laugh at. You sure as hell did not build any that on an Official ARK PVP server that much is obvious. Going through that video all I see in that video is one pointless aesthetic base after pointless aesthetic base. None have any defensive value what so ever, neither are they efficient designs. Dear me you even have mock medieval towers in one of the bases In all honestly if I came across any of those bases on a PVP server I wouldn't hesitate to immediately raid it. It would be like taking candy from a baby. I guess at least you didn't have your generated room covered in decorative glass (yes someone actually did that on a PVP server....). That's one positive I guess Thanks for coming clean, I appreciate it. Now we all know your background and why you want more PVE on PVP servers.
  7. No one in TPG hacks. I can vouch for that.
  8. ARK didn't manage any DDOS protection in 3+ years of development. I don't see this game with its devs doing much better given a lot of them are also ex ARK devs.
  9. You'd have to at least 75 players playing the game for that and they'd have to be all in the same company. Given the rapidly falling player counts, I'd say that is pretty unlikely.
  10. Yep as I have said many times these changes are not to the benefit of small companies. I played ARK for years from the first week of release until Atlas came out. In that time I was in several mega tribes but I also played a solid year as a sort of guerrilla in a very successful small 5 man team. I can tell you the differences in the way you have to approach the game between the two are vast. A giant chasm in many respects. Life in a mega tribe is on the whole pretty casual and laid back. On the other hand if you are in a small tribe you really need to pick your fights well and do a lot of groundwork before raids to maximize your advantage. One of the reasons we were successful against larger tribes in ARK was in part because we always had the advantage of surprise. We chose the time and place where we would attack, they had no idea we would be coming. We did a lot of recon on enemy bases, worked out their weak/blind spots and chose our targets carefully. With these new changes to Atlas however it is no longer possible to have the element of surprise. Do the devs really expect a small company of 20 to buy an expensive war token to declare war on a tribe of several hundred and have the faintest hope of succeeding? It really is quite out of the question. These changes will be a disaster for smaller companies, they will be reduced to the status of perpetual defenders. Never able to go on the offensive always on the back foot defending.
  11. I always had the inkling that underneath the surface you a were PVE and you have just confirmed my suspicions. Now I have to ask the question why do folks like you go on a PVP server and then start demanding it become more like a PVE server that you are used to playing on? Why not just stick to you know PVE? It seems to be where you belong. It's clear you most likely didn't play PVP in ARK hardly at all. There was a lot of lot of raiding that happened while players were online especially among the larger tribes. ARK was an example of a game where there was true PVP. No silly rules, no regulations, no hand holding. The strongest prevailed and the weak perished that is the natural order of things and it worked well in ARK. Players that were smart were rewarded while lazy and idiotic players were cleansed. Atlas is now attempting to implementing a formula where clever players are stalled and lazy players are protected. Going by the player count, it is not a winning formula...
  12. No it wasn't. People left because there was nothing to do in the game. 3 ships is all we got to fight with. This new PVP Lite change isn't going to help the situation at all. In fact it will have the exact opposite effect. It will drive away many players who were prepared to rejoin after the wipe with the expectation that there would be a lot of PVP and combat in the first few weeks (which is normally the case after a wipe). The devs are saying to these folks, these PVP minded fellas that you shouldn't bother coming back because you won't be able to have any fun anymore, there is not going to be PVP on PVP servers. That's the message us dedicated PVP players are hearing loud and clear.
  13. ARK has no ORP or any other kind of hand holding system and yet it remains immensely far more popular then this game. So now you have basically admitted that you are against fighting other online players in PVP unless its "fair" to them. So no strategic surprises or tactical options permitted anymore
  14. I never said that. Explain to me then why with the new changes I will be prevented from attacking you even when you are online. No matter how you try and spin its a PVE minded change for casuals and noncompetitive players.
  15. Taking over an island will now be a theoretical thing you can do in the game rather then a realistic one with the new patch. With the upcoming changes PVP isn't meant to happen all that often. Think of it like an event, once a month someone fights someone else and the devs will write a big community article about the wonderful battle. Once its over everyone will get back to the main theme of the game which is now farming and base building.
  16. No. Its the sandbox mentality that says you can do whatever you want in this game without any hand holding or artificial rules. That is why many players purchased this game in the first place. Free and unrestricted warfare in a sandbox environment. There are always going to be a couple players that can't handle that kind of pressure and demand obstacles and barriers be put up to make the game easier for them. Players like yourself who require hand holding and regulations to stop "toxic/griefer/troll/evil/some other silly word" PVP players from killing you.
  17. Yep this game isn't meant to be for solo players. Also its pretty easy to spam stone structures that make raiding your base hardly worthwhile even for a large tribe. Also this whole offline raiding issue is completely exaggerated by a few noisy folks on here to serve their own interests. The majority of raiding at least that of which I have been part on has been against other companies that have been not just online but in the same area/at their base at that time. I didn't go out of my way to raid them when they were online it just happened that they were and the reason they were online is because those that aren't tiny companies will normally have players from different timezones playing in their group as that is a logical and smart way to play and defend your base. This whole offline raiding problem doesn't exist. It's a myth concocted by a vocal minority on this forum in order to change the game to their liking.
  18. I would also argue that the game lacks a lot of PVP content. When you look at it there is really only 3 viable ships for PVP: schooner, brig and galleon. The other two the raft and the sloop are too weak and to slow to be really useful. The same is true for weapons 2 type of cannon for ships and 3 ranged weapons on foot. The game is really lacking in variety.
  19. These new changes to PVP if implemented will definitively spell the end of Atlas as game. There can be no doubt that with these changes the bulk of PVP players - those who purchased and play PVP for the sake of PVP will depart the game for good and with them will go the majority of your player base. I am one of them but I am not alone. I know of many others. Good solid players that can tolerate their base being blown up while they are offline. Players that can tolerate their mythic galleon being sunk by an explosive barrel and their high level tames dieing to alpha snakes in their enclosed pens. These are players with endurance and grit true PVP players but these players cannot stomach the thought that they no longer have freedom of action in an open world sandbox game. The player count has already begun its death spiral and is now averaging a little more then 1000 a day. If you the developers wish to reverse this course you will need to revisit what made games like Atlas and ARK successful in the first place and why altering a winning formula has proven to be extremely unpopular among your player base. I implore you as developers to change course while you still can. You still have time to rethink these insane ideas fostered upon you by a small loud vocal minority on this forum who never really liked PVP in the first place.
  20. Exactly. Well said. Folks like him are really deep down PVE players but they will never admit it. It's a prestige thing they don't want to be seen to be a PVE player, they don't want to be called a PVE player but no matter how hard they try and disguise themselves they remain a PVE player. From my experience playing many games with various folks you are either born a PVP player or a PVE player. I've rarely seen one successfully cross over to the other. You either love competition and being challenged or you absolutely hate it and want things nice and easy. There is nothing wrong with PVE players but problems arise when those in denial go onto a PVP server get flogged and then come on here the forum and demand there be "rules" and "regulations" and call players that do PVP "toxic" and "griefers" among other things. Most of the time developers ignore them as they realize the silent majority are busy playing the game and not on the forum demanding the game be made easier. Sadly it seems this time they were vocal enough to grab the devs attention and the end result has been the disaster that is now unfolding ie a dead game. This whole new system that is being added is really one just big disguise. Officially it is to stop "Offline Raiding" (this is a completely exaggerated issue btw) but really if you scratch the paint a bit you'll see underneath what they are really trying to do is make it harder to do PVP. If they had wanted purely to stop Offline raiding they could do that easy enough by making the base invulnerable when no one is offline. It's a simple thing to do and infact ARK had servers that had that whose code they could have easily imported. However they gone much further then that. They are now saying you also can't attack bases even when players are online without first buying a token and letting them know your coming. This really shows what their true aim was and that is too make PVP more noob/casual friendly. Basically a sort of casual player mode has been implemented. Risk free, non competitive PVP gaming complete with safe spaces.
  21. I'm in one of the top 10 companies and I would be lying if I said that was still deep enthusiasm for this game. I've seen in my companies the players count drop like flies as soon as the devs made this announcement. I'm talking about a very active company that had several hundred people in it regularly playing this game to logging in and seeing just 2 or 3 others online. The devs have kicked an own goal by letting PVE players decide what is best for us PVP players.
  22. It's hard to be positive when the player count has dropped another 37% this month. It's clear that the devs have taken the game very much in the wrong direction with this forced PVE safe space bs on PVP servers. PVP players bought this game to be a pirate so they could go on a server and murder and pillage other folk's bases and fight naval battles. The moment you take that away and limit their freedoms then you end up with a dead game and the statistics are saying we have nearly reached the end game at this point.
  23. I agree. If you ask me tames should have been limited to farm animals with little combat application like cows and drought horses. Seeing bears pulling around giant cannons at super speeds not only looks silly but doesn't belong in a pirate game.
  24. So its a little slice of lame PVE whenever you need it? Yea no thanks. Lets leave PVE to PVE servers. PVP servers do not need safe spaces.
  25. These changes are PVP Lite for the casuals and PVE players that want to dip their toes in a PVP server but not be attacked or have their feelings hurt. Atlas has become a game for snowflakes and players that hate competition. You can now run last in the race and still get a prize.
