  1. No they gave us more PVP options which is a positive thing. If you don't want your boat blown to smithereens by some sneaky folks don't be lazy and put defensive guns around it. Puckle and swivel guns exist for a reason. Use them.
  2. EVE is a completely different game. It's mechanics are not suitable for a game like Atlas and ARK.
  3. There is a claim system for a reason. If you want the land put down your flag and take it. If someone else occupies it slaughter them and make it yours.
  4. It's rather irrelevant. This whole idea of adding offline protection is against the spirit and nature of the game. It was a failure when tried in ARK it will be the same with Atlas. A broken idea is a broken idea no matter how you dress it up. It doesn't get any better.
  5. Exactly. They are nothing alike. You simply can't transplant some mechanic from a game that is completely different and expect it to work.
  6. No. PVP means PVP and PVE means PVE. Do not conflate the two. The vast majority of players that join PVP servers do so with the intention and aim of fighting other players, this blood lust is what drives them and motivates them to play on such servers. This game isn't some simple PVP game like say Counter Strike where you play for 10 minutes kill a few people and then the game resets. Games like Atlas and ARK have a lot more depth and require more long term planning especially at the higher levels in order to be dominant. You may view someone that goes around and sinks all your ships and deletes all your tames as a "griefer/troll/nasty/evil" whatever player but in reality its a strategic move to weaken and eliminate you. When it comes to offline protection history has proven that its a terrible idea that will never work. On paper it sounds great just like socialism but its a disaster in reality. It has been tried in many games before and never works. They tried it in ARK it failed there as well and it will fail in Atlas too if added. All it does is create more issues then it solves. It results in exploitative PVE pockets in PVP zones which throws off the balance and in particular the raiding/loot system.
  7. There won't be any fix, this is a 24/7 game. Play it accordingly or roll a new char on some PVE server. If you leave your ship on a random shore somewhere expect it to be dead when you log in next. That's how it is and that is how it will always be. If you don't want that to happen then put some effort into building defenses instead of whining on the forum.
  8. Is it a PVE server with lot of "aesthetic" structures?
  9. Can confirm. I have a dead ship from weeks past that still shows up on the map.
  10. There is probably some new EU law on being too creative that they have to abide by. Talk to your local friendly commissar for further information.
  11. They tried ORP in ARK and it was a total failure. I even predicated on their forum a week before it was added that it would be severely abused by players using alt tribes and pin codes and sure enough it was. ORP servers ended up being more or less PVE servers because players would simply store all their good loot in their 'loot' tribe that was nearly always offline save for the occasional once a week login to refresh timers.
  12. Battle metrics is exaggerated its not really that effective. This whole issue is overblown the game isn't dieing because of some website.
  13. I have my doubts that people would spend the time tracking one another. This sounds like a rumor thats gotten out of hand. It's not a thing to worry about.
  14. Cheers. This game has a lot of potential it just need more depth atm to make things interesting.
  15. Steam is an American company and they follow American laws not European. Also what I am doing is no different to anyone who writes down publicly available information on a piece of paper. Its legitimate and correct.
  16. Yep because we all know that ARK ORP was a total success.........................
  17. If you ask me the main thing lacking in this game at least compared to its previous incarnation (ARK) is the severe lack of content. There is just not enough variety and weapons/ships/cannons to keep things interesting in the long term. The developers need to stop trying to make cosmetic stuff and add stuff that new things that are meaningful to gameplay.
  18. This has to go down as one of the worst suggestions put forward on this forum. The game already is having a hard time keeping the current clusters full and you want to create 4 more? You will end up with desolate lifeless semi PVE servers.
  19. Aimbots and other cheats interfere with the actual game. They manipulate the game to give players an unfair advantage. That is completely different from a simple harmless website that does not interact with the game and does not affect gameplay in any way. What such websites do is no different to someone going to a grid square and writing down on a piece of paper the names of all those that play there. Do you wish to stop that also? Should players not be allowed to memorize other players base locations? Where does this silliness end.
  20. As I said in one my posts, if you play this game at a high level in a large group it becomes less about skills and more about who can organise better, who can get their logistics/resupplies together better and when and where you decide to strike. These websites that just aid with organisation and strategies. They are not placing the crosshair on someone's head, they are merely telling you go to a certain grid square at a specific time and you will likely be in a strong position to attack.
  21. Its mostly causals and PVE types that venture onto PVP servers and withing hours get deleted then decide to spend the next week on the forum complaining about the game 'dieing' or being too hard, or other companies being too strong. It's rather amusing after a while.
  22. The greatest minds cannot be found in this thread....
  23. Educate yourself before you such ridiculous statements plz. There is no comparison what so ever between someone aimbotting and someone using Battlemetrics or custom software like I do. The data we use is available to all and any players, in fact they don't even need to own the game to obtain it. It is data that is free and available to who wish to harness it.
  24. Sorry but this kind of thing has been around for many years, yet I am the one that is "beyond clueless"? In recent years its been perfected a lot more but it has always existed for MMO's. I know for a fact that EVE for instance has a lot of custom software players use to monitor their enemies. I used the same software in ARK as I do in Atlas, there was also Battlemetrics in ARK too. There was never an issue there and that game nor any other MMO type game has never been 'dead in the water' because of it.
  25. Cheating? Sorry but that is some mighty fine exaggeration right there. These data analysis programs are certainly not cheating, all you are doing is filtering public data to extract the bits that count. Nothing more and nothing less.
