  1. Someone make a surprised pikachu meme cause OP is acting surprised at having lost his base when he clearly knew the game had a 10 day decay timer.
  2. Not the reason I was bringing it up, it's the fact that the rendering from numerous ships popping out of nowhere would cause issues. Each piece on a ship has stats, a potential color scheme, and again, configuration in how they're put on.
  3. It would also cause issues, could you imagine a schooner coming to your island in PvP and pulling out 10 galleons right then and there?
  4. I mean, the math is simple if you really think about it. A-B(time*2 for simple math as half speed is easier to account for) Vs. A-B, B-A, A-B.
  5. Do you have Atlas? If so, you should be aware of the annoyance of having to gather all the different types of materials needed for higher quality gear, You also need a decent amount of said materials for an entire ship to get upgraded, that and the pieces can be rather bulky, this equates to wanting a shorter travel distance for crafting the pieces and bringing them to the shipyard. And since you'd already have a place for tames, ships, shipyards and farms above ground, storing materials in the cave would just be more of an annoyance than anything really.
  6. An animal with numbers attached to it for stats is easier to store than a ship with a plethora of configurations using just the base ship components before factoring in things like players building other structures on the decks for protection and whatnot. Not to mention the issue of crews.
  7. You don't have the game from what I remember, so you don't have any first hand experience on what is needed to build higher quality gear.
  8. Except this ain't Ark. No-one would have a main base in an underwater cave unless they don't have any plans to have tames, farms, or ships.
  9. And I'm saying the reason of freeing up land isn't going to play a part in caves being added as land won't be freed up.
  10. So what you're saying is, people are still going to need their surface ships because that's going to be the primary way of fighting, not to mention easier to replace than a high level tame. Which results in companies still needing to build on land to ensure their ships have a safe place to be parked, built and repaired.
  11. That's gonna sink all the SotD right?
  12. You mean the small things that hang off ships like Galleons, Brigs and Schooners and have 0 offensive capabilities?
  13. Realist, you seem to forget that it wouldn't because of the very obvious need of a safe place to park and build ships...
  14. Did you consider the fact that it wouldn't free up land?
  15. Ok, so here's a simple question for you: Is it faster to take the speed hit from full crates, or is it faster to make multiple trips?
  16. The ship variety is horrible, for combat purposes, I feel that the difference between the Brig and Schooner is so minimal it comes down to personal choice.
  17. I guess my issue really stems from the fact I've played a game that focused on console limitations that limited what was in the PC release before, and that game didn't turn out that well... (See X:Rebirth for an example of this.)
  18. How much memory does a ship skeleton being added that used, say, medium ship parts be compared to the 2 SotD types added and the turtle?
  19. So the ships just existing take up memory, or only after they're built? If the latter, couldn't you add a ship smaller than a Galleon such as a Frigate?
  20. Basically, instead of having the SotD spawning as the AI enemy in grids unless tied to an event such as the kraken or something. Instead, what would be better is if there were AI Pirate Hunters/Privateers/Royal Navy or w/e that would also fight against the future wild pirate encampment ships they happen upon. This would let players observe a nautical battle and wait for an opportune moment to strike, or provide a way to evade unwanted pursuers. It could also be a way to allow players to be slightly sneaky if they happen to design a ship to look like, say, a Royal Navy schooner. Thus making it so the spyglass would have more use due to needing it to ascertain if a ship is an AI or player, because as it is, the stark difference in ship design doesn't leave much room for doubt on if a ship is an AI or Player.
  21. Ok, so just have the PvEers build a wall around the island. Then you don't have to worry about anyone attacking your base ever.
  22. Why? What would this accomplish but pushing people away due to the needed wipe? As well as limiting communities from playing in a single company...
  23. I guess you're just ignorant as to what advertising a pirate themed game normally entails... Let's put it this way: How prominent was the animal taming in Sid Meier's Pirates!?
