  1. Well I believe that for a game to survive it does need a set course/plan, I just watched worlds adrift it's last days on youtube and I was thinking how easy it is for a game to lose direction, I hope that never happens to atlas. Although with worlds adrift I noticed that they didn't do much to bring in outside influences and investors or even release it multi platform which at least atlas is doing. One thing they did wrong in that game though from the very start they had the players far too involved in the way it was developing, too many people pulling and pushing in too many directions only causes confusion and misdirection, and can easily derail a project. I wouldn't want that to happen here.
  2. Well it's horses for courses, I suggested an airship as you know, Yet I get people say it's not pirate themed etc, then some of us suggest teleports, again we get the same negativity. Then the same pirate purists go off to their giant crabs, subs etc. At the end of the day fantasy is fantasy it could mean almost anything regardless of it being pirate themed. Ok the devs said airships are prob a no go even though it's been on their header since startup, but there are other things that could be added that aren't strictly pirate themed.
  3. The Hydra island freeport has fish and most other resources, it's a great place for a base.
  4. The problem is though this isn't strictly speaking a pirate game and to argue that we have to keep it one is pointless. As far as I am aware captain kidd never raided ships on a giant crab, blackbeard never had torpedoes, Did anne bonney Use a submarine? And how many people stand by the pirate theme whenever other ideas are mentioned and then go back to their submarines and torpedo armed ships? Or jump on their giant crabs?
  5. Don't know how we are supposed to explore the mermaid city without a sub though. Never done it in a suit but I suppose it can be done.
  6. well the hydra island has almost everything I need but I didn't find wheat only maize. It has tin and iron no salt so far except by digging, and it does at least have a cosmetics vendor.I know the frozen cyclops isle has gems too. But I wouldn't say the blackwood map has every resource , not that i've found yet anyway.
  7. Like any mmo to keep people playing you have to regularly add content, I think my message in bottles quests are a good idea for some of that. But quests will have to be the way to go at some point. Adding cosmetic content always helps too. I think the airship is something that needs to be reconsidered for the future, as it's no longer technically a pirate mmo now anyway. Different building skins etc, all of these sorta things keep people playing.
  8. Yeh I used the soap and erased the original sails, now nothing I paint shows up. It shows on the mini picture in paint mode but when I open the sails they are just plain.
  9. Anyone know how to use the soap to erase the sails yet?
  10. Hello, I have 4 suggestions, 1.Could you have the bottles have messages in them from shipwrecked pirates that need rescuing? Maybe join our crew for free as payment? 2. Could we have proper stern lanterns please? makeshift ones don't look that great. 3. The Hydra island freeport in blackwood has some lovely oriental style buildings, Could we have the style to build with? 4. Could we have the bowsprit as part of the ship build? as it's not actually a figurehead it's the mast that's above it, and you can't put another figurehead underneath. Many thx. ps the hydra island in blackwood is stunning btw.
  11. Hey people, hows about some decent stern lanterns? It don't look that great doing them with pillars and hanging normal lanterns on them.
  12. Hydra island freeport has maize, also I found tin nodes, rice and calcite in the same area. Such a shame we haven't got the oriental skin to build with.
  13. FFonline is a great game but For me was, without any exceptions (even ark) the most unfriendly community i've ever experienced. No mans sky is a good game, but there is just not enough variation sometimes to keep me interested. I still play it though. Realistically the only game you can fairly compare atlas to is ark. And Atlas runs circles round ark, arks great if you just wanna collect animals but if tames aren't your thing it gets quite boring fast. And again the online community are about as unfriendly as you can get. Atlas is a great game, regardless of it's bugs and probs. Yeh the sub being boss kill only and some other solo unfriendly things I don't agree with but at least they now have a single player option.
  14. Well they could make it so you could harpoon a whale and steer him with your ship attached and increase your speed, if it has to stay with the fishy side of the game. personally I want airships. I don't think teleporting is a bad thing either, there are loadsa mmo's with teleport systems and it works out fine. And mosta them have a smaller map than atlas too. But it doesn't look like the devs are too bothered about it, although they might be trying to work something out and just not said anything yet.
  15. I'm having similar issues in blackwood at the hydra island freeport.
  16. Yeh my schooner is deffo faster than my sloop.
  17. Well as a solo player I find I have to have my focus around me so I don't really want a mini game to distract me, I've said before that strategically placed teleports would be good but not everyone agrees to that. though I might add it works well in most other mmo's. Obviously if you are a sailing fan I'm sure you wouldn't need or use them. It does seem though that no one will ever agree on this subject anyway. But the travel time is deffo a put off for a lot of people.
  18. The only things I don't like about no mans sky is the daily constant updates that I cant switch off for some reason, and the similarity of every where I travel in the game.I still play the game and sorta enjoy it but even with the main quest it just doesn't keep my attention for long. One of the good things about the game though is the lack of any kind of lag. Also you can host a private game and other players can just drop in and visit with no probs at all, and still I get no lag even hosting my own game. As for Atlas well tbh I love the game and I don't care what anyone else says about that either. Yeh it's got room for improvement, what game hasn't, but it won't stop me playing it.
  19. Getting back to the topic, I still think that there could be stranded sailors etc who send messages via bottles you find, and maybe as a reward they could join your crew for free as an incentive, especially for solo players who lack the gold to buy a crew.
  20. Obviously you never had direct dealings with the water supplier then, or you'd realize how wrong your statement is.
  21. Many thx mr J. gotta have that sub! ps, any plans on the airship?
  22. Hmm this is all a bit worrying, I really want to get the sub.
  23. Yeh we get sugar tax too, our government would tax intercourse if they could, but they wouldn't know what to do if you if you were owed a rebate!
