  1. Factions would at least automatically balance the pvp, an opt in or out of pvp option would also be ok too.
  2. The trouble with mixed pvpve is the fact that pvp will always gain more than pve, they have already said that the best resources will be in the pvp zone, and that pvp players will get greater rewards/ benefits than pve players who want to remain safe. Even though they have hinted that the pve player won't be totally safe either.
  3. Actually they haven't said they are keeping the eu pve server either, they just said na would go offline first. And seriously i'd rather build cute little ships and houses than big square blocks with no windows, and ships that look like wooden pyramid shaped hedgehogs covered in canons.
  4. All games go the money route eventually, Conan exiles, Sims, eso, assassins creed, wow, and the list is endless. No mans sky hasn't really yet, but it's prob only a matter of time. And the worst thing is how shafted xbox players get compared to pc. Although microsoft are mainly to blame for the huge price hike on downloaded games.
  5. Pvp and pve are totally different play styles, I don't want to build ships that are wooden blocks loaded with cannons, and I wouldn't want forced conflict either. I am not alone by a long way in this view, please bear that in mind with the changes u make. Thx
  6. Obviously not someone with your own business eh, spock? I also said they need to think of the loyal players aswell, not exclusively.
  7. Is it to do with the tropical winds and directions?
  8. Jat, I have bought most of you're companies games and have concluded that you would make an amazing pve mmo. But you always push the pvp, why? has it previously succeeded? I reckon one of you must either be a massive tabletop gamer or a fan of Risk.
  9. When I first played outlaws of the old west a big tribe joined on pve, they started griefing everyone by blocking all their properties so people could not get in or out,. we all complained , especially as this group were obviously using cheats due to the amount of resources they had to grief with, from day one. The devs gave us automated replies. Then one day I go to sign in and the server is totally gone. So instead of punishing the griefers individually, they closed the whole server. same company as Atlas. As much as I think they really do have great ideas for games, I will now never buy another one. Ea or otherwise.
  10. The point though is that they promised no more wipes after xbox release, and like I have previously said they had 3 chances to change the game during the previous wipes and still retain some credibility, but chose not to. This is not good game management. I personally am not angry, I'm disappointed with the devs and sad for a game that could have been amazing. And as per usual most people who are happy with another wipe are either the ones that left, or people who still play and have done as much as they can and are now bored. They need to think also of the players that are loyal to them and have stuck with the game since release aswell.
  11. As for the wipe, well they did that 3 times and with the xbox launch had the oppurtunity to keep their players, add new ones and make any changes that would be major, they chose not to. They promised no more wipes too. How many chances should you give a company to get something right? As for the early access, well dark and light came out 3 years ago and it is still in early access. Early access should have a pre agreed time limit imo. And like I say they could not have chosen a worse time for themselves to mess up. 2 gamestation releases and new mmo's all in the same year and consumers with less money to spend. Sad, Atlas is a game with so much potential, but they need someone who knows how to steer the ship.
  12. Tbh they should keep their word. People came back to it and played it for the first time because of the promises they made. But the xbox players imo got shafted the most as Atlas on xbox was far more expensive than on pc and for a lesser version of the game. Which I don't think is fair. I'm gutted about this new move because I had high hopes for Atlas as I have bought and played all their other games and still do. Even though they seem to just get left for ages, this company do have some brilliant ideas, but I don't know if they just get bored or something.
  13. I don't think it's the pvp'ers that are really complaining.......Yet!
  14. Damn it must be nice to be so gifted at esp you can know someone by reading a comment they make. Anyway it isn't just one person leaving, read the forums. And also discord too. And as you're obviously staying then it's good timing for me leaving. Good luck to you and the other two players you'll have on your server in a month or so.
  15. The fact is they might well be mixing pvp and pve, the problem is it still means less added content if the main focus is gonna be pvp.
  16. C'mon guys and gals and others, ALL digital lives matter !.
  17. Well whoever gave you dev guys your new update ideas I just hope for your sake they are a rothschild, cos you're gonna need a bail out. Moving more towards pvp now is a cop out cos u can skimp out on more content. But in the long run the servers will be deader than a one legged pig at a tramps barbeque. Seriously you wait this long to do anything and the best idea you have is to alienate half your remaining player base? And when there are a few new mmos coming out this year and people with less money to spend? Well at least your not in banking and shares eh? I've played since release, both platforms, supported you since day one, and I have this to say..."Goodbye and good luck" and "Bon Voyage"
  18. There are other games this has happened to, like dark and light, and citadel, strangely both associated with the same companies. I still play them both from time to time cos I really like the games, but new content only gets added after months and months. It's a shame ,because tbh I absolutely love dark and light, and the building in citadel forged with fire is second to none. The good thing is though oddly these games have never been abandoned by the devs, so they still run ok and I guess they just add content when they get the time.
  19. There was a thread a long time ago about storing ships, especially to reduce lag. I think a lot of players quit after they have beat all the bosses and completed game content, and are left with nothing to do but repeat the same process, that's why a lot of people used to ask for server wipes. Tbh I've played since release and I get pretty darn bored now, especially as tames aren't really my thing. No new content is something that puts a lot of the player base off from returning too. The only reason I am still playing is to build ships, cos I enjoy it, but even that with all it's combinations is getting a bit samey now. As for toxicity in a game, it's not ever gonna go away. It's human nature for some even in pve, in fact sometimes worse in pve than pvp. Games have tried everything from banning to bounties, and I still haven't seen a solution that works. Imo, new game content is the only thing that will bring back players and add new ones.
  20. I remember when I first started out having my raft sunk 3 times by sotd. I thought then that there is no need to attack an unarmed vessel, cos it nearly made me quit the game entirely. And in a way if you had auto pilot you would need an anti aggro mechanic too. What if you fell asleep? Or was carrying a lot of cargo and ran into sotd with no defences? And when the wind drops I also think the sotd should suffer the same effects. Yeh my Galleon is like a sea tank and so is my brig, and my schooners can outrun pretty much any sotd. But only if I am physically piloting them and stay alert. But having anti aggro on unarmed vessels would help new players a lot.
  21. They could easily set up a system where unarmed boats don't get attacked by sotd. That way mat runs wouldn't be half as stressful, especially when the wind drops.
  22. I think what happens with mmo's now is they try to please both types of players, pvp and pve, But instead of a pve game with opt in pvp they try to do it the other way round. The reason is simple, you can get away with much less game content in a pvp game than a pve. Some games at least have the guts to do just one or the other and by doing so accepting the lower sales margin, but sticking to a linear design that people will either play or not play. I personally don't think a good pvp game with enough content to please an ardent pve player is possible. Eso in my opinion comes closest to pleasing both camps, and that's pve with optional pvp.
  23. Tbh I'm still up for a whirlpool teleport system myself. As long as there are only a few of them and you can only travel to and from the ones you've discovered then I don't see it ruining the game at all, even a random one that sends you to an undetermined location could be written into the myth of a pyrate game. Nearly every successful mmo that's stood the test of time has a form of fast travel (even the ones with much smaller maps, ima) and it hasn't destroyed the gaming on them at all. But until the devs decide whether they are coming or going then who knows what will be. Just hope they do something soon.
  24. All new games start with the honeymoon period, and it seldom lasts before the cracks appear. I think if a decent pyrate game get's released that is dedicated to the subject, with devs that stay the distance ,then yeh Atlas would be pretty much be over. Tbh the problem as I see it is Atlas still hasn't broken properly away from being an ark dlc, Hopefully they will eventually do this and it will become a stand alone survival game in it's own right. For a lot of us that have played from the start it certainly needs more content now to bring the interest back. But I would like to add that the devs in no way deserved the torrent of abuse and toxicity that they got when they used to regularly post on the forum, I don't suppose that it helped them to remain upbeat and positive.
