  1. I tried to store some raw prime in one and when I went back to use it for taming it had become "salted". I don't know how new that is, but it only made salted meat and fish out of regular meat and fish before.
  2. You would want alliances. Though I think a system from games like Europa Universalis where not only you have alliances, but you also have to pick Rivals (which have to be factions roughly the same size). Basically you'll want to fight your rivals and leave everyone else alone.
  3. Instead of "focused" think "channeled". PvP should be channeled into something other than wipes. This is a problem Ark didn't fix. It's a problem carried over into Atlas. But before we say what PvP shouldn't be, we really need to figure out what it should be, how it should be conducted. How it should be rewarded. Then figure out how to discourage and prevent everything else. And figure out a way that everyone that wants to be involved can be and that there is always some kind of conflict in the world. Yes, they need an auction house, market or something. As much as I do like RP and do a lot of trading, it's really hard to be a trader in this game because of the distances (even on a unofficial server) and players being from different time zones.
  4. To me it's got a lot of what I like about Ark, plus ships, treasure hunting, etc. For me the issues are, PvP lacks focus. Also, only the large pvp companies are really supposed to compete, which leaves everyone else out. Also, no real in-game economy. They managed to turn exploration into a chore. It's a mistake to say Atlas should be a "pirate game". It's pirate themed, but it should be more of a empire builder/4x game (at least from the macro level). Get as many people as possible taking part in that, without losing the create-your-own-adventure nature of the game. Give people reasons to do things and not to do things. People get board and leave the game or people get board, troll others and the other people leave the game. Leaving the game pretty much empty at this point.
  5. I would like to amend what I stated before. The Official server is almost playable for a solo player. Because apparently no one is allowed to own a ship. I noticed this before the wipe. It must be mandatory that all ships be sunk where ever and whenever they are found.
  6. Far more than three Factions if they go that route. Maybe 10-12 factions.
  7. 1422 of 2230 is 63.8%. So yeah, that's a majority that are on the official servers.
  8. Actually the majority of people are still playing official servers. The biggest problem is the vast majority who've left and the devs can't seem to figure out 1) why they left and because of that 2) how to bring them back.
  9. That's where I find my Atlas Official server numbers. Maybe they can make one for Ark, but I don't think it would be any more useful that what I'm getting at battlemetric.
  10. The thing is you have no proof. I showed you where I'm counting the official server totals. You want to count them too, be my guest. And it's simple math do take the number of players on the official servers and divide that by the total playing the game at the same time. But you won't, because it will prove you wrong. That Official servers aren't popular with the majority of Ark's active player base.
  11. You've done no analysis. I literally counted the official server population and compared it to players currently playing the game. I get it, it doesn't match your perception, so you disregard it. You'll never comprehend that Ark Official servers are not in fact all that popular with the player base.
  12. It's not an estimation. I've started counting. https://www.battlemetrics.com/servers/search?features[2e079b9a-d6f7-11e7-8461-83e84cedb373]=true&game=ark&sort=-players And if you hadn't noticed, Ark's been getting up to about 65k a day lately.
  13. They need to put a delay on releasing ships like there is on almost everything else. The fact you can release a ship with an accidental click makes no sense. (And yeah, I've done it a few times).
  14. Yet only 16-17% of Ark's playerbase is playing on Official servers at any given time. Your personal disdain for unofficial servers doesn't change that fact.
  15. Are they useful? Do people use them? Asking because since I've been back I've spent most of my time gathering by hand in a lawless area. Haven't got to explore very much.
  16. I remember before the Wipe the devs were talking about markets and about players being able to set up shops. Whatever happened to this?
  17. I'm pretty sure Large Stone Gates are big enough to fit a Galleon through.
  18. If the devs had a strong direction to take the game, people would come back. If there was a greater sense of participation to be had, people would come back. If a rationale for PvP and if asshattery was greatly discouraged, people would come back.
  19. I can play Atlas better than a lot of other games and the optimization is better than it was in Ark at this point in development. Early Access can cover everything from a tech demo to late beta testing. Most of the EA games I've played were in a early Alpha state.
  20. Ok, more numbers. For Atlas, yesterday when I counted 72.3% were on the official servers. A short while ago it was 62.3%. Again, it seems to vary from 55% to over 70%. For Ark a short while ago I got 16.2% on official servers (for PC).
  21. This or large island should be broken up into territories. That would definitely give more opportunity for PvP as companies could then fighting for full control over large islands. I'll be honest, big islands have been disappointing as a lot of the ones I ventured around pre-Wipe had an unexpected lack of diversity when it came to resources. A lot of empty space and not a lot of reason to build on them.
  22. Where you there when it happened? Because a lot of these leaks aren't happening all on their own.
  23. You're right. The Devs don't care about casual gamers. That's why at just after peak hours the game has fewer than 4249 players. That's how many Pathfinder: Kingmaker has, the 100th game of Steam's Top 100.
