  1. Mobile base would be decent at times if there was a proper ship for it and more detailed ship interiors and stuff.
  2. So one time this pirate sailed to this island and went ashore. He found a castle there with a few flickering lights at night. A balcony window was open and he could see how extravagant it was inside. So he told his crew try not to kill, but take whatever you can. If they resist tie them up. Just as they went to scale the walls of the lavish castle with no guards or defenses on a remote island, a huge vivid floating sign appeared in the air and was blinking the words "Sorry I am not online right now. Please come back later to face me. Offline raid Protection base defenses activated." That's when the pirate age faded away and was only a thing in books. And when carebear mmo video games would be made about them hundreds of years later.
  3. I havent really found the right MMO or survival game. I am actually not big on the genres. They always disappoint and frustrate me more than other games. Always end up being pissed with tribe and the grinding. But I may try a game I found yesterday called Heat on Steam. I also dont want to play solo, I got screwed by my last tribe and was expendable. I enjoy playing MP with others, but my luck has not been good with that for awhile now.
  4. Your new feudal land owner overlords.
  5. Its a feudal system slave market eco now in game. Not even really exploration, discovery, adventure based. One claim per island with larger tribes being able to dictate even more. In theory I would even take the current system over that with just a fresh start. Which little small tribes do the most work constantly for their overlords? But are always expendable. Eh not gonna fret. Its their game. Doesn't sound appealing to me. Doesn't sound like a fix the more I read about it. I would have preferred way more indepth base mechanics and buildings things and abilities. Gonna be an even worse slave system than before. Now full on feudal with island owners being lords managing islands, subject to higher company their company owners. More grinding for smaller tribes to maintain and have land for larger tribes. Cant even choose what to build. People pigeonholed into specific builds even more. I dont care about the wipe but the changes sound way less appealing. Meatshields and slaves, more toxic diplomacy, total what have you done for me lately for larger tribes to smaller tribes on their island or in their governing zones. No thanks. Not really interested anymore in the proposed changes. I really dont like this whole everyone is a puppet and number type thinking just to suit larger battles and have specific roles. Losing its appeal to me and fun level. These proposed changes dont actually solve the problem for smaller tribes and solo players at all. Its more likely than before they will be dictated and forced into crap.
  6. Seems to me it will still be larger tribes just split up into smaller factions. Same thing, just a workaround that wont always be so obvious. Now be even easier for larger tribes except farming which will fall on the smaller tribes just needing land again. There is no overthrow bad island leaders when the majority is the power dictating the others. Meatshields and slaves again, and easier for large tribes. FK it's a feudal system isn't it? So much for adventure, exploring, and discovery, and spontaneousness. Sounding more and more like typical MMO.
  7. I lived on lawless as a solo player so yes. I didn't bother to pillar spam either. I did my best and got wiped several times. Then finally found a tribe again. But if its as you say and after the wipe there is gate spam, pillar spam, and foundation spam, then no point in even wiping just continue development as is.
  8. That depends. I'm level 55 and have 692 hours in game. I haven't grinded much specifically for levels either with a lot of other stuff to learn. I like to do a lot of different things in a new game with deep mechanics. I dont find the grind to be too much with a lot of new things and changes, and everyone starting over. I also dont feel like I have to be top level and keep up all the time. There is fun along the way.
  9. Okay I get all that. But what in any of this is giving much thought to solo players starting out and smaller companies? If they dont race out to take control of an island with a claim, they seem to have the same problem as before. Its like the same thing in a way but larger tribes will be split into different units, and smaller tribes will still be stuck under their tentacle as meatshields now. Are they suppose to get lucky sailing around the map for 2 weeks and just happen to find the right fit for their small tribe with some random land owner? That didn't happen before. Like it all sounds top heavy again and nothing really good for small tribes. Land owners will also blame smaller meatshield tribes for losses and make them expend the most effort protecting the island. It only takes majority to rule.
  10. Makes more sense now that I see how they are tying it together. But right off the bat if you aren't a large tribe you're gonna be subject to the owner company for the island which will almost always be a large tribe reaping benefits and making all the decisions. UGH. Slaves again. From land claim problem to do as the island owner says and be limited in base building. So each grid now has a dictator automatically except lawless. And anyone wanting to stay in smaller tribes expected to be meatshields for the larger tribe and at their becking call now to defend the island, even if that tribe isn't really at war with invaders?
  11. Buying a war token automatically means smaller tribes cant out battle larger tribes. As in like 5 guys versus 20. Or 20 versus 75. The larger tribe has a heads up, it is more costly to the smaller tribe and leaves them with less time for other things. While large tribe can sit and keep the gold from not declaring and turtle boom. So now we will have campers and turtles too much lul. Just trying hypothesize.
  12. Okay and now my tribe will just sink all the ships when they leave from solo and smaller tribes going to do stuff. Not that I would do this I am saying as a player that has that mentality all the time. Until the tribe declares war on mine so it enters wartime from being frustrated and camped.
  13. I just wait until you are getting ready to log off for the day after playing, or attack right when the timer is almost up as soon as you log on. A larger griefer tribe would do this every time and just move things into place beforehand as much as possible. It would promote camping as much as it would promote others to try to log as a defense and have multiple characters in different tribes to circumvent timers on either side.
  14. So here comes the camper tribes. Just taking advantage of a timer for false sense of security when a more open and indepth approach is better. Then its even more like griefing when people get camped to circumvent timers.
  15. Its annoying at times but expand your arsenal. Like nades, throwing knives with 2h wep, shield, pistols, bola's. Find what combo's work for your playstyle. Make use of the other items. Most players in this game are not good at all on foot. Including myself at times, but im getting better and my damage has increased a lot in melee. Use your feats as well if you want foot combat.
  16. The timers are there to prevent abuse of instant macroing and exploiting character animations. And its not just run and gun call of duty. Melee could have more fidelity though.
  17. Macros. People use macros that instantly do tasks for them with their character. Basically peripheral hacks/exploits with mice/keyboards.
  18. Both are fine. Plus scheduled war would result in huge battles and server lags/crashes like a mofo. And who's the asshat griefer mofo who keeps my tribe in a war dec just because of others things that happen when its declared, while some main enemy tribe benefits?
  19. Scheduled war would just make people more angry if they lose and they would despawn their loot. And advanced war notice.
  20. Character wipe isn't a huge loss either because they can boost XP gain after the wipe for an extended amount of time. Also while leveling players wont have access to as many things right from the get go which could hold low levels down, and prevent others from building or passing through to try to get territory. Most everyone will have to work on their character again too so not like you can have as many groups working together in small teams or solo by griefing others and then just merging. But one flag per island? That's crazy talk. Settlements should be a capital flag for tribes with members above a certain amount or something.
  21. And please dont even go down that default mmo road of killing lower level players causes debuffs, or certain curses and blah. Maybe for executing players. But not for raiding. Raiding doesn't make players bad people. It is a VS game. It is excessive abuse of mechanics and not enough viable options that make people quit.
  22. All of those things, but offline raiding isn't necessarily the problem. The system needs more depth so players can build up ways to defend even if small, but mighty. Just because people can offline raid doesn't mean they will succeed with a more indepth system. All I know is there has got to be a better way than carebearing it to much or scheduled war and farming war declarations. Neither of their games Ark or Atlas need more grinding, maintenance, or upkeep features either. In that regard always divert to more fun and less realism when a game becomes work. I like some of the ideas I presented with bonuses and skills and stuff. Could think it through.I could see it relieving a few problems, but making it feel like some mmo just trying to sell copies to masses and not really passionate about their game in the long term. Scouting a base is part of fun as a player looking for weaknesses in bases. Also for example say a large tribe come and wipe your small tribe or you and a buddy without remorse and take your loot. Your only way to get back is to use your wits and attack when they're weak. No way you and your buddy can get back when they're online if they're larger and no way you would want to alert them about you and your buddy trying to get them back lol. I advocate against any war declaration system or tokens for it until proven somehow its very good and aligns with openended and fun battles. It's carebear and puts the game further into larger tribes pockets. They have every advantage to farm tokens faster and have more defenses, when solo and smaller tribes cant spend that time farming a war dec to alert a larger enemy. That's what PVE is for players who dont want to lose/risk buildings, items, or lose in battle. Offline raiding isn't the main problem, its not enough options in game for players. Also I didn't play solo because I wanted to.
  23. Hmmmm have to think about that. Some fair points there.
  24. Living in lawless should be an option. But I think lawless should have some kind of things going for it claimed lands dont have. It keeps the game fresh, with more options, even for the expert players. But just throwing up mortars and bear cannons next to someones base on lawless is a bit too easy.
  25. Its not sudden death to a not that bad game. At night on EU pop was down to 501 players before this was even streamed to the players. Its been a slow decline since release for a good game because of too much toxicity, bugs, exploits and broken mechanics. They are doing something right by addressing some major issues which have resulted in such a low population currently in game. I am not at all on board with a war token system though. Two mistakes made here are the wipe should have been sooner, and not leave a month deadzone in between now and the wipe. But whatever we got to play it early in release and its been better than not trying it at all. And I like what the above poster said more or less.
