Belay -- thought it was a bug but it wasn't
  2. It should be like Conan Exiles: buildings decay based on how connected they are. 1 lone piece decays fast. 2 pieces connected decays slower but still pretty fast. Unless the previous owner is willing to make a full 2x2 hut (which would consist of at least 4 floors, 8 walls and 4 ceilings = 16 connected pieces) then it all decays pretty fast. The other problem is just that build allowances are far too high to begin with, which allows this type of spam to take place at all.
  3. You can create pirate caches. Especially in lawless. Granted they are not totally immune to being found but some common tricks: Look for a pit in the landscape. Build your hut over the pit so it looks like a level house. Hide your stuff in boxes under the floors. Build your walls double-thick. This is good practice anyway. Hide boxes in some of the walls. Build a small hut deep underwater. It's hard to find and even harder to break into. Hide a box in a bush. Small boxes in dense shrubs are really hard to find. Beds too. Sometimes I have a hard time finding my own bed when it's on the map and I'm the one who placed it, because the bushes hide it so completely. . Of course, most people hide their stuff inside a massive fortress with lots of NPC protection but caches can be useful too.
  4. Bottom line: way too much grind in this game. Extra true for small clans. PvP entry level requirements: Grind some tames Grind breeding for tames that are as good as the tames you're going to have to fight against Grind resources Haul 6 different types of each resource Grind high level SOTD in golden age grids for high level ship blueprints Grind gold to pay for your island and all the crew you need to protect your high level tames and ships Grind discoveries for max level Grind levels to hit your max level NOW you're ready to start PvP: level 75+ in your mythical/legendary brig. Technically nothing stops you from going out to PvP in a ramshackle sloop with a cannon strapped to the nose but realistically if you want to engage in fun fights and not die instantly you need to do all of the above which represents hundreds or thousands of man hours of grinding before you can think about enjoying yourself. Realistically you would like to have a number of captains farming SOTD to get those blueprints, which will be one of the most time consuming and most critical aspects here. Megas can manage it by distributing the grind across enough people but for a small clan it's just not reasonable.
  5. This rather defeats the purpose of painted sails. The other ship saw the same thing on my sails: didn't load in until very close. A 3rd ship saw the same on both of us, and us on him. Seems to be a general issue. I'm sure it's intended for optimization but painted sails are nice for identification and didn't used to have this problem.
  6. Had our feed working for a long time and it seems to have suddenly stopped. Last message was Friday, 4:43pm Eastern ("Day 1037, 04:46:33"). Company notification panel shows it still there. Bot is still set up in Discord. I re-pasted the weblink and hit apply again just in case but no change.
  7. You're probably seeing the "exposed wall top" bug. You slide around on the tops of walls and on a moving ship this will hurl you backwards. So when you drop a ceiling tile of any type, mess with Q and you should observer that it will snap into two nearly identical positions: one where it overlaps the top of the wall and one where it hangs off the side of the top of the wall, leaving the actual top of the wall exposed. If you leave any wall tops exposed, stepping on them while moving will have bad effects.
  8. Chopped off someone's head and did not appear to get any XP. The XP bar didn't flash or appear to move or anything. The beheaded person was offline at the time -- maybe it only works when they're online? (In which case, dodge the effect by pulling the plug if you're ever captured!) I have a video of it but all it really shows is my XP bar not moving or flashing when the blade hits.
  9. Test: Put a ship cannon on a cliff top. Use external camera (K) to aim. Fire the cannon. Actual firing arc will not match projected arc of the targeting reticle. The shot falls short. It's much worse for spiked shot but regular cannon balls miss by a good amount too.
  10. Having this issue: I assign some NPCs to some guns in a land fort. I come back later and some of them are off their guns. If I whistle them to follow some actually backpedal AWAY from me (they are set to lowest follow). I think it happens when nobody is around and the fort unloads but I'm not totally sure what the trigger is. I just know I load in and one of them will be packpedaling against a wall and another will just be standing there. A third one is still on the gun, acting normal.
  11. This happens a lot and I've only noticed it since PTR: Build a gate. Attach the door. Build walls off to the side. Oops, wall is wrong. Demolish or pick up the wall. The door gets demolished in the nearby gate. Or sometimes the whole gate gets destroyed, as if its support was killed even though it clearly was not. I can snap a new one right back where the old one self-destructed. Between this bug and the lock-up-while-placing-large-gates, it's incredibly aggravating to build some structures (sea gates are especially maddening).
  12. When placing large structures -- particularly the new large walls and the old large gates -- frequently enough it causes the game to freeze while trying to place it. Game hard locks ("Not Responding"). Feels like a D3D problem. Does not lock up the computer as a whole but also never delivers an error.
  13. Hard to have a sextant buff going. The text takes up the same place at the bottom as eyeglass text making it hard to identify things, particularly ships. Also, if you log out and log back in with a sextant buff, it removes the top compass and wreck finder but keeps the minimap.
  14. In the dev stream he specifically mentioned it for PvE. He did not mention it for lawless. And in the dev blog it is specifically listed for PvE as a bullet point. It is not listed for lawless. If it's an oversight and PvP Lawless gets repair buildings then it's an oversight twice.
  15. With the change making lawless structures decay, I don't think living in lawless will be viable. Notice that the auto-repair building is specifically listed as a PvE feature. Lawless PvP does not get that. We just get decay which we must fix manually. Which means going around to literally every part of your structure. Every wall. Every ceiling. Every floor. Every roof. Every door. And you whack it with a hammer. Every day. Forget layering. You need to reach every part of your building. If the devs want lawless to stay viable, we will need that same repair structure PvE gets.
