  1. Don't say that. The EVE Online community got together a number of years ago and had the first case of MMO in-game rioting to protest proposed microtransactions. I know, I was part of those riots. https://www.pcgamer.com/eve-online-players-protest-against-monocle-pricesmicrotransactions-lasers-involved/ CCP who makes EVE capitulated and even changed an in-game monument to commemorate those riots. "This was once a memorial to the winners of a riddle contest sponsored by late entrepreneur Ruevo Aram. After standing proud for half a decade, it was destroyed in late YC113 by capsuleers who were staging a mass uprising against an intolerable status quo of intergalactic affairs. Today, the ruins of this once-great work of art stand as a testament to the fact that change is the universe's only constant."
  2. I got... Ya know, even if I had coral I'd still be willing to slap a diving rig on the lil sloop and go harvesting. Even that would be a change from beating on rocks and trees and I'd still have to spend a lot of points to compensate for the freezing cold waters. Even then, I MIGHT be more understanding about this change even though the metal requirements would also severely slow down any building projects. But it would be doable. The only reason I have not uninstalled as a result of this patch is because 95% of my base is complete and the next planned expansion can easily be wood as it would be inside stone walls. That doesn't negate the fact that this was a stupid idea.
  3. I prefer to think of myself as a player. But apparently giving me the title of victim is quite appropriate. Thanks, but had this been different would you have seriously given up everything you've built to move to another biome because of a nerf?
  4. Oh, and different wood has so many uses right? I mean I can... make things of wood. I have Iron in the rocks which is just about as common as... well... rocks. And with the current change, I'd have to pound on a dozen rocks just to make one stone wall. Oh, excellent idea. I'll just ditch everything I've worked the past 3 weeks for and go back out looking to steal a claim because the dev's just decided to beat me over the head with a nerfbat. I would surmise that at least 40% of the server population now lives in a place with 0 sap. Taking your advice, those players would suddenly flood an already set of laggy, overpopulated servers in the tropics and temperate regions. THAT is not a solution. I appreciate you offering suggestions but quit trying to come up with a way to compensate for a really STUPID core change to the game.
  5. I am telling you. I have 0 regional resources and I live on a pretty damned big island. NONE! I have no potatoes, I have no carrots, no celery, no sugarcane, no honey, no flowers, no maize (that I don't already grow in abundance from seeds like everyone else), no beets, no turnips... From gathering, I can get arctic raspberry, ligonberry and a small amount of cotton. That's it! Get the picture now? And I'm pretty damned sure I'm not the only one.
  6. I just crafted a wall and it DEFINITELY took 20 paste.
  7. I have cotton. I took my bear out during the recent 2x harvest bonus. In 30 minutes I got 5,000 fiber from it. I took that same bear down south 2 grids and I got 100,000 fiber in 30 minutes and THAT included paying a 30% tax. Potatoes? Seriously? When suicide is more refreshing than making food, why bother? And just how many shovel digs am I going to have to do to get 1000 potatoes and THEN, what can you do with potatoes that you can't do with any other food item? Make one specific type of meal? Seriously? That has value where? I'd be paying more in metal to repair that shovel than I'd be able to trade stupid potatoes for. You are missing the point. OTHER islands have been given resources EXCLUSIVELY (i.e. metal, sap, crystal, gems, salt) 2 of which are now going to be in extremely high demand. The island I live on has NO exclusive resources. NOW... if the devs decided to take all metal from temperate and tropic regions and move it to tundra regions, yea, then I'd have something that others would actually want and I'd be a happy trader. Right now, I got jack shit.
  8. Reason being the French and Spanish had already decimated their forests by then and the US had an over abundance. Fun fact. Trees respawn in Atlas a LOT faster than RL trees and even polar islands have trees. Wood, thatch, stone, berries are all resources I have in abundance and NONE of those are anything that any other island can't already get locally in abundance.
  9. Wrong. My island has 0 sap. My island has 0 metal nodes, 0 crystal, 0 gems and 0 salt. I'm already having to travel just to get fiber which is in very limited quantities. My island has only basic resources. The only thing my island has of any value are bears, horses, crows and a very few wolves (which have been nerfed to the point they're almost worthless) and lions (which have so few hitpoints as to be almost worthless) which usually get decimated by the bears before they even get to me. In recent nerfs my island lost all elephants, vultures and scorpions which took away 2 other tradable tames and removed a resource for limited amounts of paste. So you tell me what I'm supposed to trade for these resources and then you tell me just how many bears am I going to have to stack on my schooner just to get 1000 sap, nevermind the metal I don't have. IF... I had access to a resource not available to those on islands with sap, I'd be out there right now farming it to go trade. But I don't.
  10. I had this same problem when blown ashore by a 'hurricane' and got jammed between a pier and a sloop. The only reason I got out was the owner of the sloop moved it which gave me the space to turn around. It appears that if you are in shallow water, even though the hull is not touching the bottom, reverse is disabled.
  11. I'm going back to bed and I hope when I wake up this nightmare will have ended.
  12. Well, isn't that just becoming par for the course?
  13. Well, your stone wall just became a problem for those in the tundra didn't it? 0 sap.
  14. Wrong. Animals can destroy wood and they will chew on it for hours until they destroy the block or you kill them. Furthermore, animals can spawn INSIDE buildings and walls.
  15. And here I was thinking that the FOY was going to be the dumbest fucking thing this dev team would do. Wow. Just... wow. I have no sap and no metal nodes anywhere on the island where I live. And because of wildlife's ability to destroy wood, I'm left with little choice. Atlas, allow me to introduce you to an old military term. BOHICA - Bend over, here it comes again.
  16. Well that brings up another amusing one. There's 4 freeports in each freeport server. Am I going to have to put a trader on each one? And there's already been a discussion on this. The best idea was to give an hour or two in a freeport where decay doesn't kick in at an accelerated rate. Whether anything suggested on these forums sinks in... well, the response we get is pretty dismal.
  17. pillars are considered a foundation.
  18. I was told, tame lvl x 2 + 30 Haven't gotten anything up that high yet to confirm.
  19. Well, there was one post somewhere about a guy running a server on his machine where it only loaded up the grid you were active in and it basically allowed you to single player.
