  1. I know this doesn't solve the underlying issue, but I wound up making my base in a lawless area, and so far as I can tell, the only drawback I can see is I can't do farming, since I don't technically own the land. Early reports are that farming isn't all that useful so far anyway, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on much.
  2. You can use a shovel to dig for potatoes pretty much anywhere there is grass and potatoes are a vitamin A food. I found keeping vitamin A in check to be super frustrating until I knew this. Also taking all three vitamin decay skills and pumping fortitude to at least 20 if not 30 changes vitamin management from a time consuming PIA to extremely manageable. When a blueprint says 2x or 3x of a mat it means you need 2 or 3 different kinds of that mat category.
  3. One of the mistakes Wildshot™ has made out of the gate is failing to have a dedicated PR person in place. Why in the world is Jat, with all the responsiblities he must have as a developer, having to pick up the reins of communicating with the playerbase because A) there isn't someone on staff who's designated job it is and B) the people who would otherwise be the obvious candidates (Jeremy and Jess) refuse to. Your frustration is understandable and your point about communication is spot on. Hope this gets fixed for you soon.
  4. Not denying something is not the same as disclosing. When you omit relevant information that is dishonesty through omission. This is why in all sorts of legal transactions, people are required to provide all relevant information beforehand. You can comment on Wildcard all you want, but if you comment on this game's gameplay, which you have already done multiple times in the past, without saying each time that you don't own the game, then you are being dishonest by failing to present relevant information. And that is exactly the kind of thing you're criticizing Wildcard for.
  5. If true then you should either quote or provide a link. That is how you provide direct evidence rather than paraphrasing. Paraphrasing is problematic because it leads to twisting. Again, do not put words in my mouth. If I said something, document it when you respond. You're not doing that, you're putting things in your own words in my mouth, that is the problem. Just for example, one place where you have incorrectly represented what I have said in the past is in claiming I used EA as an excuse for problems. I have never done that, all I have ever said about EA is that people should expect change. If you review my post history, and not just those posts responding to you, you will see mulitple posts where I have criticized GrapeCard™ in multiple ways, from implementing design choices they should have known better than based on their experience with Ark, to expressing the opinion that Atlas was released to EA too early, likely to take advantage of the key spending month of December. So don't pretend that what you are doing is okay, because what you said DID misrepresent my positions. Either quote or link. For someone so hellbent on calling out Wildcard for dishonesty, you seem to have a hard time being completely above board yourself.
  6. You’ve gotta be kidding me. Yeah that’s pretty bad. I guess Atlas tames aren’t meant to be farming tools then. Oh, you wanted a parrot for your shoulder, since this is a pirate game and you’re a pirate? Np, just spend some of your valuable and extremely limited number of skill points to be able to do that.
  7. All of this is putting words in my mouth, a huge no no in rhetoric because you presume to know what I would say. You do not get to speak for me.
  8. Saying I call a spade a spade fails to acknowledge that the label is by its very nature subjective. What you are demonstrating right now is either an ignorance of the difference between subjective and objective, or more likely an unwillingness to acknowledge and accept that difference. Someone’s Mexican heritage can be objectively determined by third parties, the label white knight is entirely an opinion. It is not an independently verifiable fact like whether or not you own the game, something that is either factually true or not. You are strawmanning here because I have never objected to your commenting on Wildcard as a developer, as your statement implies. What I’ve objected to is you commenting on GAMEPLAY of a game you don’t own. Again knowing a company and their track record is not objective proof, it is subjective evidence. The way you present your arguements demonstrates either a poor understanding of, or unwillingness to accept the difference between subjective and objective. im having to repeat a very simple basic thing here over and over because you keep making statements that run contrary to an understanding of subjective and objective. Show us you understand the difference between such simple and basic things without responding like a willful child with I don’t care what you say I’m always right and your wrong. Those are my facts.
  9. I haven’t had to deal with crocs and wolves so I’ll defer to you there, but lions and tigers have proven unable to get onto my raft in repeated engagements.
  10. No because white knight is an arbitrary and frankly inaccurate label that people like you use to dismiss others so they aren’t forced to deal with arguements on their merits. Wheras by contrast the fact you don’t own the game is a verifiable fact and relevant to every gameplay post you make, so in any case failing to disclose it is misrepresentation by omission, making you a hypocrite every time you fail to do so. But I will make you a deal. I will agree to only discuss or debate anything concerning Atlas with you on the merits of the arguements put forward without resorting to labeling, insults or name calling, since surely we can agree neither changes anything, right? Of course if your views are correct and there is truth in what you say, surely that will shine through on its own, without slinging mud like a child or cheaply trying dismiss others with a label. That seems pretty fair doesn’t it?
  11. Typo from auto correct on iPad, already corrected. Also, while you are perfectly entitled to your opinions about GrapeCard, not all of which I completely disagree with, if you are going to say that a company is unethical and dishonest in there practices, and then comment on their game message boards, you should clearly state in every single post commenting on gameplay that you don’t own the game. Otherwise you yourself are not being honest and transparent by omitting a highly relevant fact people should be aware of in their reading of your posts. Every. Single. One.
  12. Tl: dr version: I don’t even own the game, so take anything I say about gameplay with a huge grain of salt because it’s coming from someone who hasn’t played a minute of Atlas.
  13. Given that you can respec at every level, I strongly recommend specking into archery for leveling purposes. Kiting mobs to a raft they can’t get up on and then hitting them for up to 100 damage per headshot allows you to hunt pretty much anything, including alphas. red and I picked up about a dozen levels each in an hour just doing this while clearing for a treasure map. Bows seem to take no durability damage and you can even recover arrows, which are cheap mat cost wise. archery for the Xp win.
  14. *refrains from making the most obvious jokes since politics is verbotin.*
  15. At this point in EA, it's doubtful anyone has bothered since anything they come up with will almost certainly be changed multiple times going forward. I'd expect to something like that a little further down the line once things are more settled.
  16. I've been thinking this morning (always a dangerous activity before coffee), and a thought struck me. I haven't even heard of anyone doing quests, much less come across any myself, other than treasure maps. Yet this is one of the most basic systems of an MMORPG, questing. I have a hypothesis now, that this might link back to the creature OPness and the SOTD no one likes. Personally I strongly suspect that Atlas's EA was rushed out in order to garner revenue during the key consumer spending month of December, when kids have the most free time to play with school being out. If this is the case, given that there seems to be at a minimum a serious dearth of questing content (possibly none, please post if you're aware of any), it makes me wonder if the true function of the OP creatures and Ships of the Damned everywhere isn't a stalling tactic to keep us busy dealing with them so we don't notice there isn't any real content to do. Pvpers will always fight each other generating some content, but even they want something to change it up and pve the devs had to know that even with 700 islands, available land to build on would be gone within days, that's just simple math. So most people dont' have base building to occupy them, and if you build a ship, you need a reason to sail it somewhere. You can only do treasure maps for so long, especially given there is precious little to even spend your gold on at this point. So has anyone come across questing content? Am I just missing it, or might there be something to my theory?

  18. When you said this, you used the term white knight directed at me. You imply that my word is not trustworthy because you've decided I'm a "white knight".The fact I had mentioned white knight as a labeling term prior has no bearing. You used the label and it is a pejorative one. Hence the insult. All this nonsense about whether I said white knight first is irrelevant and at this point you're just demonstrating deliberate obtuseness or have the reasoning skills of a small child who needs things explained to him step by step. This shouldn't need to be handheld and walked through for you. Denying it doesn't change it. Especially when others can see for themselves. At this point further discussion is useless. You're just tilting at windmills and impervious to reason or horse sense.
  19. You used the terms in reference to me, very clearly so, and they are terms commonly used as insults. Thus insults and any attempt to confuse the issue by dancing around what post when is nonsense.
  20. When you use the term white knight and leftist pejoratively, as you very clearly did, when you say directly that you won't believe anything I say because you've decided to label me with a useless label, how are you gonna backtrack from saying that isn't an insult? If it's not intended as an insult, then why do people use that term that way all the time? Get real.
  21. white knight. Labeling those you disagree with so you don't have to confront their arguements. Why would anyone trust anything you say when you don't own the game? That's your own logic one better turned back on you. No matter what you say, you can't credibly be claiming to add anything meaninful to the discussion because you have no firsthand knowledge to base it from. The forums are full of people disussing and reporting issues with the game right now. You, by definiation, have nothing meaninful to add. So call me white knight all you want, you look a fool to anyone who's read posts I've written criticizing development choices. Just labeling someone a white knight and saying you won't believe anythign they say is about 3 degrees of the pot calling the kettle black when you don't have the game.
  22. I didn't say your cause wasn't just, don't put words in my mouth. I said it was a waste of time, or rather that's what I implied. Now you're doing the labeling and insult routine, which does zero except make people who already agreed with you slap you on the back while turning off those who were on the fence. So let's review, you are basing everything you say on other people's reports. Well I'm actually playing the game, and I can confirm OFF of my own experience, that some of what you're asserting has not been changed is not true. Think about that before you go making accusations off secondhand information next time. I know this may be hard to believe, but human beings can be emotional and irrational and prone to making wildly inaccurate claims at times. But again, my main problem with your crusading is not that Wildshot™ does everything right. Lord knows that isn't true. It's you're investing an awful lot of time, energy and emotion against crusading against something that, no matter how you slice it, just isn't that big of a deal. It just isn't. If the game completely blows and I got scammed, I'm out 25 bucks that I spent on entertainment. Jesus man, if I bothered to picket the movie theater for every movie I've seen that was a waste of my time and money, I'd never get anything done. Since you don't play this game and never will, why would you not just let people actually playing it make up their minds for themselves. I thought the sort of people who liked to throw around leftist as if it were an insult were all about the freedom of choice. So let people choose, and if you aren't playing yourself, leave it alone. If the company and game are as bad as you say, they and it will go down in the end. Or don't you believe in the free market? Yes. False. Period. Some of the things you asserted to be true based on secondhand information are not true. I'm in the game and you aren't. Period. All of your "informing" is secondhand because you aren't playing. Anyone reading these forums has abundant exposure to the problems with the game and can read for themselves without you inaccurately pouring gasoline on a fire with unverified assertions. What is wrong with it is you do not clearly disclose that you don't play the game every time you say something and you assert second information as fact. That is what's wrong with your brand of speculation.
  23. Didn't you say very clearly in a previous post in another thread that you weren't buying the game because you hate wildcard and they are unethical etc etc etc, you're just here to, I dunno, save the world through telling people about a bad gaming company. A) There are just better and more important things to go out of your way to rail against than unethical gaming companies because no one HAS to buy a game. If injustice really burns your biscuits, then why in Dog's name aren't you spending your time on real injustices that really matter, instead of some game you don't like? B) If you in fact did not buy the game then how on earth do you know for sure that these changes didn't happen even though they are in the patch notes? Seems to be either one of two things is true here. 1) You're lying about changes because you didn't verify whether they happened or didn't happen for yourself because you don't have the game. or 2) You bought the game and are a hypocrite for supporting an "evil" gaming company with your money while constantly telling everyone how evil and corrupt and awful they are. I'm just curious which it is.
  24. Yes, players in a large clan will have a resource gathering advantage. Thus it has always been, thus it will always be. next issue. Players who want to whine about an unfair advantage granted to other players who came before them during event are whiners. Life isn't fair. Get over it. If you are in a game during an event, you get to reap the rewards of the event. If you aren't you don't. This "You have to avoid this sort of thing at all costs in an MMORPG" is just nonsense.
  25. Sorry but I do not buy the assertion that events like this are not normal and are inherently unbalancing, as it goes against many years of personal MMORPG experience. You're also exaggerating when you say forever, as we all know the event is for a limited time.
