  1. I once had an ally who said something similar to this. I said nah, you're imagining things. A few weeks pass, a few lvl 30's had vanished on him (haha, yep, he would turn around for half a second and *poof*) and he finds another lvl 30. This time, he is really pissed off, and doesn't give up for 10 hours or something. He found the lvl 30 after 10 hours of just circling around in the same spot. I'm not joking. It was his first lvl 30 tame, hehe. Lvl 30's are ninjas, and not really despawning differently to other lvls, is the more likely explanation.
  2. The events actually sometimes go for weeks on end, which is kinda cool. Sometimes they forget to turn it on, sometimes its turned on and they then forget to turn it off, sometimes it's as it should be and "regular". Good on yas for that part I guess.
  3. As long as we are doing this so that we can make people suffer, right?
  4. Well they don't get the myth bps and good gold from such high level treasure maps, I guess. Haha, nah... it's kinda true for sure, I think you saw my post in the thread about 2x. However, most of the players who can't breed because of no time, could've just spent those 4 terrible hours during baby phase, then did at least 2 imprints, instead of wasting time not being able to play further content and just playing the same content. Just suck it up once and get it done, even though all the other stuff about breeding being possible (healthy) or not is still there. Did that make sense? For new players, I offer to breed animals for them, they just gotta imprint. Often, the new players will then sit there and watch as the babies are born, then they just end up sitting around watching more and helping out. Then when they have a brand new spanking imprinted bear, they are ecstatic and say to me "thanks, that wasn't so bad, but I'm glad I don't really need to do it again". I really want 4x breeding now, damn you. edit: ohhhh you can actually just use two high lvl tamed bears, opposite sex for mate boost. That's what i did until a breeding event occurred haha
  5. I want to agree with this post mostly, however, are you saying that you just want ORP, and everything else will sort itself out? The part about current structure costs/health/usefulness at all vs cannon costs being fine is the confusing part. I mean, I can sort of see what you're saying, it's in the first paragraph, you just want fun. The counter point to your argument that making it more costly to raid will make players less likely to have fun, is that players wont bother to make anything to raid. Surely? I think I've just confused myself. BRB.
  6. Just breed one bear, and wear some plate armour. Or two bears. You can just use a normal bear as the second bear, another bred one would be "better" though. The second bear should be opposite sex, so it provides mate boost. Lvl bears up to 800hp and they will be fine, lvl them up to 1k hp and they are even less likely to die. I would suggest trying to do the crab thingo though, as you can then also get those boosted maps if you ever do find such a map on golden age.
  7. Nooooooooooooooooooooo. So you did this map without 2x gold?
  8. Talk like what? Asking questions that you avoid, or reply that "you don't know", and then proceed to ignore and just continue to spam? Nobody wants events to be on weekdays if the reason is to make some people suffer. Seems you are not able to talk about anything else here.
  9. Huh. Why? I doubt you know what I want, but if you did, would it be because I wanted other people to suffer? So, the discussion could be whether or not to have events during the weekdays? Do you find the events are taking away from your game play on the weekdays? Do you find yourself progressing too fast? Are you bored with the content and as a "solution" to increase "longevity" you would like to artificially limit yourself for some reason and just take longer to go from point a to point b? What about the other points that have been brought up in this thread?
  10. Why is the game not a pirate game? Just because its beta phase testing? Pirate game is still a new thing we gotta try? Add more items etc so that the game is more "piratey" and we could actually take stuff from other? This sounds like an excuse, and not really helpful for the thread. Would you like to take stuff from others? Are you beta testing and trying new things and helping so that more items can be added? Would you like it to somehow be possible to claim PVE ships, or not?
  11. No. You do not play the game. This helps you to ignore how crap your posts are. If you played the game, your post would be valid. You don't and it's not. You should be ashamed. This is the extent of your reasoning skills? Gtfo lol.
  12. I'm not a fan of factions, it's a different game. I could be a fan of a game like that, but I think that a PVP sandbox game without that shit would be better. That's because it's really difficult to make that PVP game that can have sustainable population. The reason why 3 factions would be viable, is actually more to do with the way that the game can provide a way for you to get back on your feet after you get your ass handed to you. I will have to find this thread from ark forums, or just work it out myself someday, where a person made a really nice explanation as to why. I haven't played it, but this person used DAOC as an example. Whitehawk what you have posted is kinda confusing. If there is 2 factions, and one is the strongest and doesn't need to team up they just beat up the other faction, what happens next? With 3 factions, there is at least some chance for something to happen, yes?
  13. bump It's possibly a problem in design for PVE players also. If PVP was balanced, anybody that played PVE could play PVP much easier. Anybody who reads numbers that show costs of destroying stone walls vs building stone walls can see the problem there. I think? I don't make games, maybe I'm the one with problems. Haha idk. Anyway, if defence was viable, it would make for more interesting naval battles. People would be able to have a ship, defend it, and then attack when they wanted to. There could be retaliation, but it wouldn't cause people to quit. NPC crew should be able to fight better when being offlined for example. If i have 60 NPC PIRATES!!! on my galleon, is it fun/does it make sense that they just sit there? They should be either fighting, or just granting a bonus to allow me to maybe have the time to login again.
  14. I bred elephants during the event, and I cannot bring myself to do it otherwise. I was talking about this with a friend from ark the other day. This person had played atlas only casually, and had quit many months ago. They asked me "is breeding any good in atlas?" I've bred countless amounts of t-rex in ark, and I can remember the devs being so very *serious* about the health implications of their game. In ark, there is cryopods now, which allows you to breed animals without the game demand that you have no life. The reason why the breeding takes so long, is not only to make the game more addictive/artificially increase playtime, but also to act as a barrier to having op animals. As this is a pirate game, and not ark, and there's cool ships and sailing that takes up soooo much of our time, if we could have some kind of progressive mechanic for breeding, that isn't a copy paste, as per above, that would be nice. As the game is pirate based and ship based, and we're fighting stuff on the sea, there is not really that many things you can fight with your tames, except people in PVP. If weapons that are available while on foot are more effective at killing people using tames, that should balance any potential op bred tames. In the meantime, pleaseeeeeeee 2x :D
  15. Claiming abandoned ships on PVE and looting ruins would be nice for sure. Can't do it though. Can only happen to stumble upon those bags. :/
  16. I just want to talk about breeding, and breeding rates. Hah.
  17. No. Cats are so very much pirate theme, I'm pretty sure pirates had cats to kill rats. Search the internet for 'pirate ship's cat'. Damn, where is this cat. a) I think having merchant and war ships sailing around, being able to board them and a navy that hunts you down could be fun. I believe this was in the recent Q&A thread, and I believe that the sotd are currently the way they are due to technical reasons. b) I just don't like how they auto aim to players. Also, When you see a cyclone, you can look away, and it will stop its spawning animation. When you look back, it will restart the animation. They are a kind of a joke really. I'd like to see them just *fixed* because they are kinda cool. Are you saying remove them? What??? That's boring. c) we wish (and yep, one sub is enough I guess) d) uh, huh. PVP and PVE together will not work, unless there is significant effort taken. Your suggestion demonstrates a lack of understanding of what would be needed for PVP and PVE together to succeed unfortunately. Please go back through the forums and research as to why. e) more difficulty by having more skills to build ships? why not just more skills for more fun and same difficulty in obtaining that fun?
  18. Could be. Comments from the devs and another forum thread. I did see that thread actually. I recall that thread fizzled out due to people not being able to come to a conclusion when arguments started about time zones, and that the event doesn't really fall on the weekend for lots of people anyway.
  19. Seems that way. In any event, I would be very interested to know what kind of discussion could be going on there.
  20. It's nearly 1am on monday morning here so I'm not sure if I've read everything here correctly, but these replies look great. Hah! It is part of the devs big plan. Both of what you guys are saying, that is. About a year ago or something, somebody made a post on the ark forums about "ergonomics" or "unhealthiness" of breeding, the post was so well thought out that it got the reply from the devs that it would be taken seriously. The problem is (obviously) that you just sit there for hours hand feeding the baby, then it takes days for the little bugger to get to adult. Atlas is just copy pasted from ark so far, along with a biome requirement and temperature management, which just sucks. It needs to be a completely different type of mechanic, while also somehow maintaining that "artificially created barrier" that prevents people from having armies of max lvl animals in no time at all. There has been many suggestions that I've seen that may work, and I'll try find those forum threads. I think the devs just meant less time spent on breeding, while also increasing our enjoyment. Oh well, weekend is over anyway just about. Also, I can remember that there was a reply from the team once where they said "woops, we forgot to turn 2x on, here you go" after many forum posts.
