  1. This is just a list of ideas. They would be done one at a time. And as a mod the admins could turn on and off different options. Yes I understand your view point. I am OK with it, considering this is not a full on caribean pirate sim, but more of a loose themed game with magic and steampunk like tech. I am also a huge sci fi/fantasy nerd so I tend to like that kind of thing anyway. And again any admin could turn off different features they found undesirable. I never played ARK either, believe it or not for the same reasons. I knew a lot of people that played it and I have watched people play, but I was turned off by the same thing. Thank you for your opinion, it is appreciated.
  2. Yes I agree the OP is... well you know. However I actually DO agree on this subject and I think it is definitely worthwhile discussing. I do not have to like the dude or even agree with him on most things to see he has a good point. Plus this is a subject I am really interested in, I joined the forums for mod and server support and ideas, if my server PSU hadn't decided to die while I was building it (new one on the way) I would probably be modding and barely here. I have a list of mods I plan for ships in particular so feedback from others is great from my perspective. -More ships... cutters, clippers, sloops of war, small brigs, large brigs, carracks, ketch, ship of the line (more? Korean turtleships, junks etc etc) -More weapons... small cannons, large carronades, medium carronades, small carronades, grappling other ships, (more? we are in a place of magic and some steam punk technology, perhaps different ammo, steam cannons? cursed cannonballs etc etc. </== just throwing out ideas) -More ship accessories... bow spirits that do something (some small buff of some type, different bow spirits for different small buffs), jib sails, flag masts off the back of your ship (showing your company flag), water pumps for auto bailing (these existed), a ship carpenter takes up a crew space assists in fixing ship (obviously would need to be balanced, requires a carpenters bench and must be mounted there), more plank types (magic enhanced, double thick planks, etc etc obviously would need balancing), steam paddle wheel option, ship oar option (as in galley and galleass) These are just some ideas, some might be more lame than the others, but I am planning to make a lot of this and then test it on my server then hopefully release. It is a subject that is on my mind. The ships, making them and sailing them and fighting them are my personal favorite thing to do in this game.
  3. Also- If you look at the ship sizes, both from a build stand point and size stand point we seem to be missing sizes in our current lineup for sure. Beyond adding different ship types of the same size as ships we already have, we have room for a size between the sloop and schooner, the schooner and brig, and the brig and galleon. Other pics and information sites list cutters and a few other types as well. If the ship speeds were more historically accurate even sloops would be usable as fast attack ships. And grappling an enemy ship to board would be nice.
  4. With the excitement and talk about the changes that are going to FIX PvP, I think you are actually correct. The ships are not even correct historically speed wise and if they were we might have more variety. But beyond that point, we definitely need more variety, and variety of weapons. We have medium cannons and large cannons, where are the small cannons? They exist in history. And what about carronades? They might be weapon options that are not in game, again of a variety of "sizes". I have a decent sized list of other things I have thought about in regards to this very subject. It is a ship game. They are emphasizing this. We need more ship things. We need more ships for sure. This is the first post I have seen in regards to this subject (granted I just joined the forums and have not looked for it). And yes it is important in my opinion.
  5. Look it is more made up numbers by Mr. Hardcore! You lie about me in another thread, you lie about the new system, now you lie about how many hypothetical people might have purchased this game or not. You have no idea what their sales would or wouldn't be. In yet another thread you brag about back stabbing allies in game. I would remind you to keep your promise and leave with your company and your "thousands" of supporters, but lets face it, your not being truthful about that either. Because if you were you wouldn't be here posting. You would be gone playing that other game.
  6. Oh I see how you are dividing it up, I thought you were dividing it up differently, totally my bad. Yes that all makes sense. That sounds reasonable and I think you are spot on there. Yes that sounds like an excellent plan. It would definitely be the best place to set up and get traction. The megas have a lot of peeps so it is the logical place to start. I suppose the next step is finding an interested mega. And figuring out the details as you said in the other thread, i.e. who holds the purse, is there a way for tips, etc etc. This is a cool idea.
  7. Will check that one out as well! thanks for the info! I am making a list of these grids so I can check them out when I get my server up (should have been up by now but my power supply died). I am seriously grateful for the info. I want to begin modding islands ASAP and was looking for ideas for a first project. And now I have it. LOL should make one that takes up half the grid and just run rivers through it everywhere, call it River Isle.
  8. All the islands will not be setup for those hours. You and I both played on official PvP servers. I played on NA so I can not comment on the EU servers, but the NA servers had people from a TON of different time zones. CSTG was ALOT of Chinese players, I will bet none of their windows are set to NA. I will bet The Aussie Companies will not set them to those times. I will bet any EU players will not set them to the same times. You have a TON of options for PvP. and as Jack mentioned, you still have all the lawless, the golden age ruins and anywhere on the high seas. TONS of PvP all around. But for some reason people that are a fan of the current system never acknowledge this and always focus on offline raiding going away. Having a warning helps because then they can prepare and BE there. That's how it helps. And as far as a war token goes, sure they might haveto do a 24 hour thing or plan and rotate in members. But it will NOT be for days until they just drop or physically can no longer defend. 24 hours is doable, days on end are not. And since you can not spam war tokens, after the 24 hours people get to rest. One system has a warning and gives you time to prepare and when it happens there are defenses. The other system the company just wakes up and everything is gone. Can you not see this? Also just to let anyone know, I was not nor was my company doing badly in the old system. I signed on to play test and help grow an alpha quality game and I planned and still plan to ride it to the end no matter what changes. I like the new system because it is a good beginning to fixing game play problems. And offline raiding is a problem for most people. I understand the threat of offline raiding adds an edge to the game. I actually liked that edge, that threat, but to make a successful game it is a threat that needs to leave. I makes for toxic and bad gameplay. That is the whole point of the change, to make it so you CAN NOT "sneak in solo and sink 10 of their brigs solo". That is what makes people not play this game.
  9. Thanks for the info I will go check that out.
  10. Yes they are adding 15 hours of PvE time on the islands. However this should prove ZERO difficulty to find a fight considering they are adding a lot more islands and each window is a different time. As I said in another thread, you can literally just sail around and find a raidable island fairly easily. If you do your homework and scout you will even know the raid windows of each island. From the limited information we have when the war tokens are bought it is not instant on. The company gets a window of time to prepare. Also they mentioned a cool down so an island is not war tokened down over and over. Despite what you think this new system is much better for small companies to defend. I have seen videos of small 20-30 man companies defending against over one hundred people for days. Usually they lose because while the naked zerg is usually full of terrible actual pvp players, the zerg just swarms them down with naked spam claims. They lose not because they were less skilled but because they cannot stay up for days while the zerg just rotates people in and out. This will no longer happen under the new system, because they can no longer just continually pummel the small company until they literally drop from exhaustion. It helps because with offlining not happening they will have actual defenses and people and things to defend with because no one dropped by in the middle of the night and destroyed everything. People will have to actually fight. Think about it... A real PvP fight, win or lose, instead of waking up finding all your stuff gone and 100 naked zergs claim flag spamming your home. See in one scenario win or lose there is an actual fight with real players who are actually prepared as opposed to no fighting and also no gear or materials or bases or ships anymore. Despite what seems to keep being claimed, everyone here who likes and want the new system WANTS to PvP fight people, they don't mind losing, or restarting if they lose. They just want a fighting chance, and do NOT want to live in a video game 24/7 because they have lives, they play a video game for fun, not to make no progress and have no chance simply because they have work the next day.
  11. Before the announcement they were bleeding numbers like crazy. The NA PvP server was at a low average of 3-4k well before the wipe. A huge chunk of those players you are talking about were (and are) playing the unofficials. The EU PvP servers were literally asking for people to come join them. Just go look up the numbers on steamchart. Like I said before, the system is why the numbers dropped the way they did and have. The devs obviously agree because they are changing it. But yes I definitely hope they will recover the lost players. I think anyone that actually likes and enjoys the game wishes for that. No matter what the personal differences are in regards to the changes.
  12. Just saw your response, yeah that's perfect. Just wanted to bring it up because I see that as actually one of the biggest things coming up. I will start thinking on this now and shoot you any ideas I come up with. Feel free to post more in your actual thread in regards to organization ideas, what you think you need, positions, etc. I think the purse money should be greater than what you said in the other thread. Make it profitable for the winners, definitely give a percentage to any hosting companies, and yes the guild should make some as well. The new system will impact this idea a bit but I think a lot canbe planned out roughly now. Are you thinking starting with one hosted arena and then growing larger? Or a small network of arenas?
  13. Awesome definitely sounds fun to me. Count me in. I would think more than anything everyone knowing things are fair and nothing shady is going on is the first thing. Especially considering how crazy games like this can be with insiders, etc etc. So things need to be as transparent as possible, the reputation of this "gladiators guild" is what will make or break it as being feasible or not. No one wants to deal with any group if they are not known for being honest. I am not insinuating this is the case by the way simply saying think it is a big deal. For instance in the example you gave above you are talking about a pool. We have to publish the entry fee, list the amount of people in the current contest, list the total money, list all the people and how it will be split up. Possibly on a web page and in game some how. That way no one can claim the gladiators guild stole half the proceeds, etc etc. I am sure you have thought of this just, bringing it up. Actually I believe you made a thread somewhere, we are beginning to hijack this thread. Sorry OP, we will move this discussion to its proper place. I will post a response in your thread Enki.
  14. Oh and in regards to the original post, anywhere BUT lawless. Probably in the colder regions, I like the tundra biomes. But my company has not fully discussed it yet, a lot will depend on how the claim system actually works. Depending on those requirements my company might start out in teams and just team spawn onto multiple islands to scout before fully committing to anywhere.
  15. I am down to help, I think it is an interesting idea. I like and enjoy player driven initiatives, not sure what I will be able to help or not help with but I am willing to be involved and promote it for sure, I want to develop a decent trading network and this kind of falls into that a bit.
  16. I never thought about it, but yes some rivers would be cool I think. Probably wont happen on Official, but I think it would be cool. I will make one in my first island I make. I only joined the forums for server info and mod info originally, and I even bought a small server to sandbox mods and custom islands. So thanks for bringing this up! I am always interested in observations like these. Sloops and schooners have shallow drafts. And of course the almighty dinghy (poor currently useless dinghy).
  17. You just straight make things up. You have no idea what I have or have not done in this game. I am a bad player? I just want to PvP people. I haven't spent the last few weeks on this forum. I just joined like a few days ago. I was and have been playing on the official PvP servers. I have never demanded anything online involving this game. I and my company were doing fine before the wipe announcement. I was playing by the old rules just fine. But just because I was doing fine, and my company was in the old system does not mean I can not see the glaring flaws in it that in 2 months time drove an initial player base of tens of thousands down to 3k on average.
  18. LOL you do realize the player count is tracked right? I have been playing past the wipe. I watch the player counts daily since playing and you can see the history, those are real numbers published on steam. The "majority" of folks were definitely NOT playing. And a decent size of those actually still playing were not playing official servers, they were playing unofficial, servers that are moderated. Now your talking about war tokens which none of us have any real information about. Limiting PvP a few hours a day? Now you are making things up. EACH claimed island has a NINE hour window, where do you get a "a few hours"? That is more than a third of the day, not a "few hours". And that's per island. they are adding in more islands, each island has a different window. You can literally sail around and find islands at all times able to be attacked. As I said earlier, now you just cant sit on top of one and pummel it 24/7. And that is without war tokens. Your ridiculous LOL.
  19. This. It might explain why he thinks the current system is so great. PvO is like trolling. So if he is just a troll, that would explain why he likes the current system, on the flip side if he really is this dense then perhaps he has trouble seeing why the current system is so terrible. So both theories seem to be valid options.
  20. Wow. There is no spin, this game with the new rules are still very much PvP. You are literally just crying because you can not offline people. Now you are saying this can not even be called a PvP game? LOL ok. As I said, go. More will come back then leave. And now your using player count as evidence you have thousands with you? They announced the wipe weeks ago, of course the player count is nothing. Everyone is waiting for the wipe. Here let me give you evidence of the same sort, launch date- tens of thousands of players, wipe date announcement- just a few thousand. Know why? Because people do NOT like offlining. The end, full stop. You are in the minority.
  21. There is no issue to "skirt". Your question was answered, you just do not like the answer, but that does not change the truth. In the new system you can PvP all day long. But as has been established you do not seem to want to actually fight anyone. And I laugh at your "PvE" comment lol, you go Mr. Hardcore! The funniest thing about that comment and the similar comments directed at others in this post, is that every single person you have labeled like that has straight said in typing they WANT PvP, you are the only one championing offline raiding, a.k.a. PvO, offlining, PvWall. No players to be seen! No wonder your in a zerg, you have to be.
  22. I actually assumed if you logged in before the wipe you got the hat after the wipe. I assumed it would be made available somehow after we all are reborn. I am just hoping it wont be stuck to my dude, because I want to put it on my monkey.
  23. Fairly sure it is you that misses the point and continually does so. Suck it up Mr. Hardcore, your unrestricted PvWall days are over. You can raid online players if the raid window is open or if the is a war declared. Considering each raid window is company set, they will all be at different times thus allowing you to actually fight another player or raid another company at virtually anytime. You just don't get to wait till everyone is asleep on one island and destroy all their stuff 24/7 now. Also like the others have pointed out, you and your company are leaving the game right? Then go. You think you are in the majority in your stance on the changes but in fact you are not. You are the minority. Most people left because of this system. More will come back than will leave I believe.
  24. They changed it because the old system was hot garbage and almost no one liked it. Only the "hardcore" PvO liked that system. It was a terrible system that drove players away in mass. The new system encourages actual PvP. They also are adding new islands cant do that without a wipe. They are also getting rid of the tons of duped items still on the official servers. If you can not see the positives perhaps you are one of the "hardcore" PvO players. The wipe is good.
  25. I think they want you back. I know I as a player want you back, the game is only fun if people play it. But I understand some people are upset and I do understand why.
