  1. You cannot build foundations and related stuff in Freeports... water pipes you can build and connect a grill that is floating that way, also crop plots, shops and buoys... Anything else no, but you can live on your ship in Freeport obviously... complying to the Freeport rules in doing so... You can fit a full base on a sloop...
  2. Currently, after 3 seasons very successfully building large-company un-raidable bases and harbors, yes... because at some point I would like to sail and not be land locked hiding in my bunker... Every day without fail, one person will get online to do the 5 min repair, yes... It is good to not be alone and/or have a notebook just barely running the game while traveling... But if I fail to repair in time, well I lost all ships... at least I did not loose them on daily basis, and they are easy to replace and level... Actually not yet use gallies...They require ~6,5x the resources to repair to repair than a brig. A brig needs ~2600 wood before it starts sinking - that is like farming for a minute. Actually brigs are better than schooner, as the are easier to repair, because the lower planks are not under the lowest deck, which makes it extra effort to make sure you hit every plank (you miss one plank it sinks...) But I consider a gally, as it is so easy to get enough material and do the repair, and it would allow to park more tames safely (because tames on Freeport a subject to griefers). And just to clarify "every day / a few more hours" is ~12 hours (at max resistance) after one day has passed. If you want to level the ship differently (i.e. more damage, as anything else makes no sense for PVP) you can go 268% resistance for 24hrs. Could even go lower, if you have enough people available (allies count) to repair say when the come first online for the day and again when you log out. But as in PVP speed is everything and repair material are heavier than ammo for same amount of damage, the resistance gives better speed for the damage you give and take... It is actually ~10 days at full resistance. But consider this from your own mouth: So while I "replace" a ship every 10days, you replace it daily, making your cost of having a ship 10x higher than mine... Also my ships have high level (apart from resistance) and I can afford to use BP items. And I can use my ship 5 mins after going online, while you have to first bash a tree with your bare hands, farm a full ship in resources, maybe tame new tames (which also always gets killed), then build the thing... and then - if you still have time - maybe go around with your ship until you loose it = going offline. Is there a other thing for a PVP ship? Again Resistance is better than Damage in the Speed game. I can see that an offline griefer could make more use of damage over resistance, but for me that would be a ship like you play it: build it for one day and forget about it. But again consider that I can afford BP cannons with higher damage, so need less level in damage, but have higher level in resistance. You seem to have a misconception about material use... First the shipyard cannot be in Freeport, so I build my ships in sectors with special resources. Second common BP can be made with basic resources, so even if I make the planks in Freeport, I loose nothing over your common BP planks. Third to get anything better than common BP stuff you have to go to other sectors to get the different types of special material you need. So you and I have to go out sailing to do that anyway. And on the upside, after playing the base building game for so long and to the max, I find it dull to build for weeks and months for a perfected base with many people for thousands of player-hours and knowing that it will not work in the end, wasting all that time spend... Lets see, when I log in I do the less than 5 min repair and restock of the ship I want to use go out and do the sailing thing... When you log in - in best case scenario with planks, etc. ready (which you still had to build before-hand taking time anyway) - you build a new ship for 30-60mins before you can go out and get the NPCs you need from a Freeport or slowly grind new ones by working the wheel, sails and one cannon (because obviously the old ones got killed with you ship and base again), so another 30-60mins for that... So I can do my sailing thing for the better of 2 hours before you even get going... Next: "have to go to Freeports"... Well first of all I own 16 fully protected "islands" all over the map... I also can use the same islands you could use for parking your ships, but with the same risk you have - as you say 100% you loose your ship... Having allies that are at peace is helpful obviously, but highly risky still. Parking at unknown claimed islands at least risks loosing them to the owner... And while your wasted your time building up a new ship in the beginning, I can "waste" a few minutes at the end of the day to get in Freeport, and have my ship ready to go and continue (not start again) my travels. Obviously most of my stuff and tames is in one Freeport, preferable where I can breed my main tames and I have to return there, but that is what beds are for. Also what is the difference in returning to my Freeport and you returning to your base island? Other than my stuff is still there while yours is griefed again...?!?! So by your own description you "can't sail the Atlas" all the time, while I practically live on my ship and basically only sail all the time... Some famous quotes for that: "On a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero" "There are levels of survival we are prepared to accept." And what would happen to me really? If I loose my ships in Freeport I would have to do the thing you do EVERY FREAKING DAY... make a new ship... If I cannot get on for 10days my Tames can be claimed... 20days my shops despawn... Put if I plan a long time of offline, I could park the ships at an ally island and hope for the best or recycle them right away. I could put my tames with allies or just hide them somewhere on an island, hopefully no one is looking. Could put stuff in a underwater FOB as everyone else giving me 30days (?) on the storage containers. You see when I cannot maintain Freeport life, I can go back to your form of existence with the higher risks and take my chances... Well, your problem, does not make my proposition invalid and still it would help you to "sail the atlas" in the times you can go online regularly... at least not waste your time every day not sailing the Atlas again... Also this being an MMO, if you can find allies, maybe other people living in your Freeport, they can maintain your ships, so you can be offline for 10days before your tames get claimable. Your do the same thing for them... Or find just one company member that is there when you are not and possibly maintain everything "for ever". You are somewhat right that they have to do something to make ships fully save while offline, because it is killing the player-base otherwise... But there are risk to that, like parking your FOB at your enemy island and he cannot do anything about it... In the meantime - as the devs have abandoned the game - there is this option to have your stuff offline protected if you play regularly...
  3. 9hrs * Ship Resistance ~ 36hrs max...
  4. Or you live in a Freeport and you only loose your ships after 36hr (max) while anything else is still there (for the next 10, respectively 20 days)... Other than that you only loose stuff to PVP when you are ONLINE and willing... and as most "hard-core PVPler" are always of the offline-type it is 'very hard' to loose stuff...
  5. There would be PVP... ship PVP... as in pirate game PVP... You see the problem in ATLAS is not that you are reasonable safe in Freeport (you loose your ships ~36hr max and than your a stuck or have to go out again)... The problem in ATLAS is that everywhere else your are unreasonable unsafe... There is no way (and they are working on doing away of the very very few ways that somewhat work) to secure your stuff, not because you should not be able to, but because the game was broken more and more that you are unable to... game mechanic flaw is that you have NPC defenses that are useless (thank you Streamers and your Fanboy Devs that broke the game by "promoting" it with ever easier ways to raid the "extras")... That problem is reinforced with the fact that thousand of hours of defensive building are useless against 30 mins of offensive BearCannon taming... The cost to defend is so much higher than the cost to attack, especially while the defender is offline - which by the way is most of the time for most of the people playing games, which are not total NoLifes, but incidentally the people a game has to count on to be viable, because if no one but the few NoLifers play your game, you stop wasting time and money on it, which you will not make back anyway... so you don't service your game as much, you work less on updates and only drop the players a bone here and there, but there is no effort for progress of your RoadMap... If this game would be viable from the start (which it basically was at least in PVP) more people would play it and therefore more would be worked on the game... Right now the Season 3 is in the same death spiral as the last two... apart from the occasional player that just bought the game, people are only leaving (you will hear of wipes and rumors of wipes, again)... when they come to the point of realization that nothing is meaningful save (not even if they work hard for it)... I find it sad that people are leaving/not coming into the game... And it is always the sad same story why the leave... They come into the game thinking it will be like any other game of the type, where you can only be safe if you work hard for it... sorry, that is not implemented in the game (yet?)... So they leave, or they do the next human thing in such a case, they become the griefer themself that ruined their initial game play... only taming a cannon bear and destroying other people worthless stuff for no gain, but grieving... and that repeats itself all the way up to the Megas... You know why in the real world not everyone gets robbed by their neighbors every day? Because we have defensive structures (lock at the door and safes) and we got people that protect our stuff while we are "offline" physically not protecting our stuff... that is how we progress as a community, having time to do other things in reasonable safety, because we have not sit on our eggs all day to protect them... because stealing from us is more difficult than not stealing from us... and even if you steal from us, we come back at you... only few will survive this, so only few even try it... And by the way, if fortresses would not work when the general would go "offline" for the night... the WW1 would have been over in one day... just like in ATLAS... not... So how to play this game - "as is" - form solo to Mega, from not so safe to almost safe: - Pillar Base - Underwater Base (only for stuff, not ships or tames) - Freeport Warehouse/Tame Storage - Freeport living anything else is grieve waiting to happen...
  6. well it does not sink on it's own... ours do not... but if you pull the anchor (i.e. The Plug) it seems to sink much faster than with the grey symbol... suggest to remove the wheel, just so no one fk's up... or put your stuff on a raft and not a actual ship... rafts in Freeport sink in 12hr * Resistance...
  7. In Freeport ship planks leak after 9hr * Resistance... At 266% Resistance you only need to go online once within 24h for 5mins to keep your stuff save 4EVA... Would not recommend it for Gallies as they cost 10x to repair vs a brig... Living in Freeport you will have so much time to play with the same ships every day... no replacing offlined ships... no taming new farm tames... no building weeks for indefensable bases and harbors... no gold farming for hundreds of npc defense that do not work... just sail out again...
  8. Only if you play atleast 9hr/d and on time... If not you swing the hatchet for some time... again... because your farming tames a dead also... again... to replace your ships and bases... again...
  9. A raft? You can solo a full base on a sloop, have running water and crops, and maintain three or four brigs if you like to with 15 min of work per day... but every day ( and a halve)... tames are pretty save too with a swivel for aggroed birds (ppl are that toxic)... breeding on a ship... cheap in gold = no useless npc defense... keep a shipyard in the next lawless with open boxes (it gets stolen anyway)... in case you loose a ship... which you do only in combat or on holidays... so not very often... also fun to read the lawless chat where everyone is complaining that everyone else is shooting up their stuff...
  10. The problem is that ships cost nothing, because they get sunk while offline and/or anchored almost exclusively... Therefore they raised harvesting resources from 1x to 2x early on (right now it is 4x), because people will not play this game when 99% of the game time is not having a ship and farming a new one that gets sunk till tomorrow... Main problem is, that you CANNOT protect ships, because land PVP is also broken... only thing safe on an island is on a pillar so it does not rely on NPC defenses that are not working anyway against one Bob with a bear cannon... As long as ships are not harder to sink and/or there is real way to protect them while anchored in your own harbor, they have to be cheap so they can be lost often and replaced fast to mitigate the broken PVP... Next up there is no incentive to not sink someones ship... your ship is worthless for the other guy, but easy to loot the stuff in the ship if it sinks... even if there is nothing to loot in it, which he does not know, because why try to board it if you can just sink it... they had black and white flags for a reason... but as the devs said this is not a pirate game... Lets see what come with this weeks patch... next week...
  11. price is for the stack, not each part of the stack...
  12. And again it need RESISTANCE to take less damage over time... not strudiness so it takes "longer" to sink when ALL planks fail at the same time and leak... and you are hours away from login in... And - from testing - BP planks do not help... their base damage taken in Freeport is still (FullHealth/12hrs)...
  13. Yes, we know, and said so in the past already... not happend in ARK, not happening here... you are only preaching to the choir... Ja, wissen wir, und haben das in der Vergangenheit schon gesagt... passierte nicht in ARK, passiert nicht hier... du trägst nur Eulen nach Athen...
  14. all your Freeport needs fit on a sloop...
  15. 1. Ships can carry infinite stuff and tames while anchored... 2. Going full speed towards island and spamming X is hard to do...? Also are you already negotiating your idea because you have not thought about the anchored ship spam to lock your ship in...? 4. Foundation structures are what gets the boot, not ships... because ships are easy to get rid of currently... 7. Unlimited resources (which you can also resupply from the attacked island), as much gear as you can fit storage on the the ship (like hundreds of large boxes on a gally PER DECK), as many tames as you can stack on it. and because it does not need any other skills, at least up to 41 beds to re-spawn the Zerg... did I mention that you can hide inside from any defender fire...?!?! - I agree with the devs which agree with the majority of their customers, but only few live like this currently and it is way more fun than base grinding for nothing... - No real pirate will waste cannon balls on a ship of which he has defeated the crew already... and if he really wanted to sink/destroy it, could do it later with fire... That is the point really... as a pirate you are limited on crew and usefulness owning many ships you cannot use anyway... what you want is the stuff in the ship and not give anything back... that is the creed, yarr! In Atlas you sink the ship to get easy access to the ship while the defender cannot re-spawn anymore... while the defender will try to popcorn your stuff because of it... you build tons of ships because they sink so easy and mostly while you are not there... Atlas pirate ships are Herring not Sharks... safety in numbers... but getting eaten by cannon bears... If there was less ship sinking it would mean less problems with everything else in the game, hell they could leave the broken land PVP as is, because no one would care anymore... everyone would be out sailing... enjoying ship PVP... not shooting sitting ducks on a beach... FWIW:
  16. Full offline protections does not work... this is not CS... It is not the problem that they cannot destroy your stuff while you are offline... it is that YOU cannot destroy their stuff, because they will use it also, killing your PVP experience of the game... and you call that a success... it is called PVE... You complain about being offlined... well guess what, you would never see another online player... because one of you will log out ASAP before risking their stuff encountering someone else...
  17. Well, that is why everyone tries to run to Freeport with their ships under attack... fully loaded ready to go ships... because they are safe from the enemy there... most dancing happens in Freeport for a reason... because everybody dances with the enemy, because there is nothing else to do in Freeport... Think your idea through... The attacker comes when he wants to your island... you could not preemptively attack his ships, because they where invincible... now they come to you... And all your stuff is in your ships and there is nothing to destroy for them... Oh you can take away their island claim... no you can't, because they don't have the island claimed or defended... because the claim is not as save as their anchored ships... For the fun of it, the attacker gets a bunch of sloops going and corner your ships in so you cannot leave... hell they could just slap down a tiny shipyard and spam rafts and dinghy... They bring in a land attack base-ship so they can grief you while you are running around farming or such... you cannot do anything to this spawn base, because it is anchored... will be so much fun when the naked guys run around with spears zerging your tames... The only thing you will loose is your mythical shipyard all the time... because it is the only target available and therefore now worth destroying everytime ... Gold will become more useless, because you do not need to waste it on claims and almost useless NPC defenses... The only upside of your idea is that the XBobs don't have to deal with the structure lag... there will be way way way less structures... The insider will be the way to go... if your are on the inside you can un-anchor the other guys otherwise not protected ships and sink them... Please do understand that if there is a way to grief people will find it... just take a look at the PVE servers and what they do to each other... Atlas is so messed up that PVE is the toxic form of Atlas PVP...
  18. The servers are in the phase of the game where everyone has a 'history'... so a new settler could be an enemy pretending or a alt-account... not good for the real new guys... because how can you be sure that the new guy is legit...? too risky... so any settler is getting kicked for safety... settlers are only welcome after wipe... in the current phase corps only are getting wiped or merged... and that means you either have the right 'history' with other people or the wrong 'history'... unknown is KOS... so if you want your ships sunk 9/7 instead of 24/7, you have to be the owner yourself... and if you are alone/too few and no allies... hopefully you have the right 'history' with your neighbors... up to 7 grids away...
  19. I would not say that in PVP ships should be exempt from damage while anchored. I recommended multiple rules (it is still a game) to keep not only ships "safer". Like a claim gives full protection but for the flag area, so every ship and settler is safe on a claimed island until it falls - would also help with the harbor and settler structure count, as there would only be need for one fortress... unfortunately they would have to finally FIX defensive PVP, as it does not work while "offline"... Other option for ships is to make them way more 'unsinkable'... it is very hard to sink a sail ship with just cannonballs above the waterline... usually a fire destroys the ship... the cannons prime target and use was to kill the crew, so the ship cannot work anymore... under that idea the defender has a choice if his ship gets sunk or he just looses resources... - yes, strudyness only prolongs the sinking... so it takes a few minutes more for it to sink when the planks leak while you are offline for a few more hours... resistance is the way to go... - not sure, not tested on official yet... depends on when the damage factor is calculated for the 12hour full damage or if it is fixed number for each ship type... - have to say lawless is the biggest game killer... everyone in build up is pissed that everyone else just destroys their stuff for NO GAIN most of the time... the only gain is that the other guy has less again... and the same people will start to destroy the other peoples stuff the moment they manage to get a cannon going... so stupid... funny enough that does not happen between island owners as such behavior is a war declaration... and as most owners are in a alliance they are even less inclined to attack anyone stupidly... though the owners do go hunting in lawless as well - and they are in even less need to steal from the bottom dwellers in lawless, so it is just for fun = toxic... - well bases can be safe, but not because of any NPC defense... you have to have it cannon-tame safe = high... you have to have it climbing protected = straight high... you have to have it glider protected = highest point around... then only a drake can come and drop of dudes... so you have to have NPCs for the dudes... but you need PCs with guns for the drake and kill him ASAP... so you are F'd if you are offline like in a war-token scenario... although I know of a pillar so high that you can build into the upper server limit, where you die instantly = so no drake can fly above your base... but it is a shitty spot for getting up there... fun thing is, even if you can raid such a base, there is nothing there to raid... everything should be in an underwater FOB and you will not carry away the resources, if they are not pop-corned by the owner before that... yeah you might kill a breeding line... that is the point, you never gain anything form any PVP in this game (if everyone is playing smart, and hiding their stuff)... you only set back the other guy... that is why the only end goal in Atlas PVP is to get the other guy to leave the game because of you making playing for him impossible (at least in his mind = where it counts)... that is whats killing the game = people leave... the second-to-last guy leaves when he realizes that all his defenses do not work at all and he has no fair chance to survive an attack... and not only that... the attacker has basically no cost/investment in taking the defender down who invested a lot (time) just to be not "safer" at all... and the winner - last bob standing - gets...: a dead server, dead game... welcome to Atlas single player... this works on the ARK network where it is no problem if only one group lives on a server and kills of (for protection) any newcomer... there are more connected other servers to find a place... in Atlas the server grid is not big enough to hide away... and they will find you... and they will wipe you again 'just because'... until you leave the game... perfect business model...
  20. So it took 40% longer for it to sink after 9hrs... You have to level resistance... Ship planks take damage that destroyes them fully after 12 hrs... higher res lowers that damage taken... Remember that planks leak at 25% health, so your ship is sinking after 9 hr base time... At 300% it floats over one day... at 396% 1,5days... Repair mats required are one full set off planks of the ship every 20 days at full res... think about it... only having to build a new ship every 20 days... not daily... and keeping all the levels and bp items on it... if you are up for the farming, you could have a gally if you can refarm it every 20 days... So much more fun to only loose ships while actually sailing them... No lost murdered tames... no big base to maintain that does not work to defend anyway... and having not one “save“ harbor... but every freeport... But make sure you repair all planks and not miss one... And crew do not repair in freeport...
  21. Do as everyone else and keep your ships parked in Freeport...
  22. Real Life, Low Life, No Life... this game is not for you... if you are unable to park safely or not have any company members to spawn over watching your ship or bring it somewhere save... it is called MMO and it is PVP... And that is not what is killing the game, when you step out for 10mins and your ship is parked 'somewhere'... What is killing the game is, when you log off for the night and there is nothing (not talking peace timer which is still too short and should not exist) in your own base/harbor that can actually protect your ship... at that point people realize there is nothing they can do to come back tomorrow and continue... totally different problem than you leaving the wheel... that is why some need a written reminder that the cruise control in their camper cannot be used to auto pilot down the highway while they go back to use the microwave oven to dry their cat...
