  1. I got my moneys worth from the game not gonna lie. I play on NA PVE But if the devs think I'm doing 100 hours of grinding all over again... lol. No way. I've got better ways to spend my time. Hope everyone here enjoys the new content maybe I'll see ya at the official release.
  2. First of all i'd like to say thanks to the devs for some enjoyable Early Access gaming. I definitely got my moneys worth. Wiping at this point is going to end my time with Atlas I survived the initial land rush. I somehow managed to find a couple claims in a very harsh desert area. I Had those claims and my base stolen then got them back. I've had my ships griefed into oblivion. I've dealt with all the bugs and annoyances and still had quite a bit of fun. I've finally gotten to the point where building a nice base was a fun project. My ships, character, tames, skills and gear are at such a level that playing the game feels fun. I've enjoyed sailing around meeting other groups and taking out Sotd''s and doing treasures etc. Getting to this point required grinding my ass off for hours and hours and hours. There is no way I'm doing that again right now. Everyone in my company feels the same as me. The devs should make sure that the benefit of wiping for them at this point and the predictable player exodus is an acceptable cost.
  3. I've been fairly lucky to have a couple of land claims in one of the desert regions. Most of the lawless regions near me seem OK. There is some spam but generally there is space to build. So I was always a bit clueless when reading reports about foundation spam in lawless. Then I came across 'Shrewdale Island' in i9 NA PVE. Holy balls. Someone has covered every square inch of the island in foundations denying building possibilities to anyone else. The only legit things built on the island that I could see are a couple generic box buildings. Obviously this is way over the top. The developers could implement an algorithm that discourages foundations spam. You should probably only be allowed a certain limit of foundations that aren't attached to a larger structure. -Damn
  4. Our company has 6 land claims and 3 sea claims. The number of claims on our flags shows as '1'. I was going to donate some land to a new PVE player that was looking for claims but had to say no because of this. Other bug reports here show the time to contest drops to the minimum when your number of calculated claims falls to zero or below. Other companies show a claim count of '-1' So now our company is in the situation of not wanting to pick up or remove any of our flags because we're worried it will screw over our time to contest. Not a huge deal for our small company with a few claims. But if the intent of the new 3week -> 4hour time to contest scale was to incentivize land distribution and reduce hording this is not gonna work unless there is an accurate count of how many claims each company has.
  5. I’ve played the game since day2. Struggled to find land. Been griefed in PVE. I’ve had my base and ships stolen. I’ve somehow managed to come out of all of it with a tiny patch of land that’s sort of safe. My company of 2 active players has 10 claims. 3 of these we actually care about (one base area , one deep water shipyard area, one small resource patch). The other seven claims are just protecting that core set of 3 claims from overlapping sea claims. With the current system anyone that has a base on a claim that’s near water and not buffered by other claims is at risk of having their base stolen from them. The large radius of the water claims and the ability to ‘wiggle’ them into place to get around any restriction on overlapping is a big problem. We would gladly remove 7 of our claims, 70%, if the devs would fix the problem with overlapping to ensure base and shipyard security. Asides from the overlapping problem I think the claim system should function as more of a layered system of claims with each subsequent claim you place being weaker and easier to contest. Your pimary claim should be very secure with a 3 week cool down. Subsequent claims would quickly become easier and easier to contest. You could set which flag is your primary claim (choose which area you want secure). Companies could cluster together each members ‘primary’ claim to create larger very secure areas. Outlying areas created by subsequent claim flags would be much easier to contest. This would have the effect of creating a layered ‘onion’ of claims the outer layers of which are weak and the core primary claim secure.
  6. My character 'Scurvey Skody' Company ID# 1749457341 now exists twice in my region i12 NA PVE. While docked and anchored on my boat (no where near a grid border) I got a msg 'travelling to new region' and then the game crashed. After logging back in I found that my boat and my AIs had been teleported to the next grid over. The boat was just floating there at the grid boundary. I was able to successfully re-spawn and bed travel to the bed on the boat and sail it back. I noticed that there was a duplicate sleeping version of my character on the boat. Now when I log in I sometimes start as one character and sometimes start as the other one. I've since dragged the sleeping dupe of myself off the boat and left it in one of our structures on I12. Seems like this could cause a lot of problems later on. Would be nice if mod would come on a clean up one or the other. -Thanks
  7. Bump. Bumping this since the new claim system settings supposedly activate today.
  8. So the new claim flag system has me a bit worried. If you look at the flag it displays how many claims your company has. Currently our flags all show -1 (negative 1) as our number. Our 3 person company has 5 claims, 4 that I placed and 1 that another member placed. Should I be worried about this? Also I’m wondering about the time till you can contest a claim and how the number of company flags affects that. The patch notes mention that the time to contest a claim would be reduced for companies with a lot of claims. I’m wondering how my companies 5 claims affects this rate. You can’t see the timer ticking down on your own flag and the info on the flag doesn’t give you any indication if your companies claims are ticking down faster. lastly 2 of my claims are kinda crappy (basically sandbars a minutes run/swim away from any resources) I don’t really need them and I’m not interested in taxing them. It would be nice if there was a way in game to denote that the flag is ‘available from the owner’. I don’t wantt to just unclaim them because then my passive aggressive neighbors or the mega company that owns 90% of the rest of the island will just scoop them up.
  9. I’d make it so each person only gets a single primary flag with a very long cool down to contest (2-3 weeks). Companies could cluster their primary flags together for larger bases. When placing primary flags down the game would require a large buffer between your companies primary flags and primary flags from different companies. This buffer area would be primarily to maintain resource spawning. Each person could get a 2nd or 3rd flag but it would require significant skill points and upkeep and have a short cool down. 2nd and 3rd level flags would be to acquire territory in these buffer areas between the primary flag placements. I’d restrict building in these areas to maintain resource spawning but companies could put a tax on the 2nd and 3rd order flags. This way the buffer region between companies primary flag placements could be used for short term land contesting and taxation for people that like that sort of thing and still keep resource spawns viable. Primary flag placements would be hard to contest in PVE and would mainly turn over when people decide to stop playing.
  10. The current system is crazy. My company lost everything. After trying to find a small land claim for 3 days we finally found a claim that was abandoned. We put down one flag and successfully contested it then waited two more days to contest the neighboring flag to see if the owners were active at all. A week later we had built a small base and most of a schooner only to have it stolen from us by another company that is now aggressively contesting the land on the island I was on. They are now trying to extort us to give our base back. Fun game! l mentioned in another thread that they need to only allow one flag per player with a very long cool down. Additional flags should cost skill points and maintenance and be of limited number, probably just 2 or 3 max per person. Maybe limit the 'primary flags' proximity to each other unless the flags are from the same company. That way bases could be spread out and there would be some contestable land in between for those that want to play the contest the land game and also allow for resource spawns. I feel like I've sailed around enough to see that some people are playing a totally different game. They managed to get established on an island with friendly neighbors, are busy building ships and structures and exploring all the mechanics of the game. The game i'm forced to play is defend what meager territory you can find from griefers and passive aggressive assholes 24/7 to the point that you cant do anything else. Not fun.
  11. Not sure how they fix this without wiping. Wiping would hurt all the legit players out there and communities that are just playing the game. Not wiping rewards all the griefers and people who did mass land grabs. I think they need to reduce things to one flag per person and make additional flags very expensive in terms of skill points and maintenance. They could implement this retroactively by giving everyone a short grace period to select which of their existing flags is their primary claim. All the other flags would immediately start to decay and if the player has put points into ‘land ownersip’ they could then place down a second or third flag etc.
  12. It’s not just accessible crafting stations. You can overload your character to infinity by having a buddy drop heavy items that you can then pickup with no limits. You can then kill yourself and just carry your dead and massively overweight corpse around to sink anything instantly (including up ladders). Possible that one person could do this with a bit of effort. But It’s trivial for two people to team up and use this tactic.
  13. The base stealing and ship sinking has made this game unplayable. Had another plot of land stolen overnight so something is still clearly broken. I definitely went around and ‘touched’ each claim to refresh it. The only claims I’m left with are tiny sandbars over a minute travel from any resources. To make matters worse the neighbors that stole our base and a half built schooner and a weeks worth of gameplay are now trying to extort us to get it back. We could have used the weight glitch to sink all their ships days ago but we are not assholes. Seems to me that much of the PVE server is just populated by griefers. The devs aren’t really interested in allowing a PVE experience. We really wanted to just build some ships, travel around the map, have a small base, go on treasure hunts etc. Everyone I play with is fed up. There is clearly a lot of potential in this game. It’s a shame really.
  14. This behavior is still rampant. Even after the patch. Maybe the flags need to be replaced to ‘activate’ the fixed system. But removing and replacing flags is suicide you loose any overlaps. Gotta say in my opinion any pve style experience is completely impossible right now. PVE is just passive aggressive PVP. Not sure I’ll be investing any time until this looks fixed. Don’t like the idea of a server wipe as it hurts legit players but not wiping just rewards the griefers, trolls and people who land grabbed entire islands. Entire system is poorly designed.
  15. So this crappy flag system is still buggy. My entire base got stolen after my small company worked on building and maintaining it for a week. We got trapped away from base during a server reboot and had to sleep IRL. Logged back on and our neighbors had stolen all our stuff as well as several other adjacent claims. We wanted a PVE experience not a crappy passive aggressive PVP experience. Anyways. I’m considering packing up sailing my little sloop to tundra and rebuilding. Is it worth it. Can we get a foothold with a flag or two. I think our characters are a high enough level that the cold wouldn’t be much of a problem. Have the latest fixes made claiming is stable and maintainable?
  16. Slightly off topic but related to the bugs with claims being stolen: I think the tax system as it currently stands has incentivized the wrong type of gameplay. Currently a lot of players just claimed massive amounts of land so they could slap a 30% tax on it and collect massive profits. You have instances of one guy dropping 30+ flags and claiming entire islands. It’s encouraging small companies to gobble up as much land as possible even if they aren’t actually using it. I noticed that the small group that stole our base and pretty much all the effort we put into the game since day2 has continued to take over claims, rapidly expanding their territory by wiping out claims by small neighboring companies. They’ve only built one dry dock, a schooner and a sloop and a couple 2x2 huts. Suggestion: impliment systems that incentivize trading over taxation. Allow companies to post contracts for needed materials. This would encourage players to visit other companies to see what contracts they have posted. Trading contracts fulfilled in a timely fashion would receive additional exp and/or other ingame buffs. Imagine building a large cargo vessel and escorting it across six grids and three biomes to fulfill a large trading contract. Seems like this would create a fun risk/reward scenario and encourage players to get out on the water more. The current tax system is just encouraging land grabs, stealing of claims and pvp behavior on pve servers. Thoughts?
  17. Same here. Lost everything including our primary claim and base and 100s of hours of work. We were on our boat during last nights reset and couldn't wait for the servers to come up (after 2:00 AM IRL). Checked this morning and all our stuff was stolen despite us having been building and maintaining in that area for days. Not very interested in jumping back in again. I may try again later depending on what fixes they implement. We wanted PVE not PVP griefers pretending to PVE. Our company was 3 people and we only had 4 flags down so definitely were not abusing the claim system as some seem to be.
  18. Just checked with the latest patch that supposedly fixes the PVE flag problems. Predictably, whatever they changed didn't restore my stolen flag flag or the 100s of hours of work that was stolen from our company (see above) I hope the devs read this bug forum and Reddit etc. since these are probably the primary source of bug reporting from the community for an EA game like this. My suggestions: For PVE, allow each person 1 primary flag thats very hard to contest maybe with a slightly larger radius and very long cool down before it can be attempted to be stolen. This would allow PVE players to setup a home area with some piece of mind. Larger companies could pool together their primary flags in one area to form larger base areas. Then grant more flags, say up to 10, as the character levels up. Alternately create a skill branch that allows you to spend skill points for more flags. Additional flags would have a much shorter cool down before they could be stolen. Reduced the cool down period further the more flags you have placed. This would essentially create a layered onion of a claiming system where the later placed flags would cool down quicker and the primary flags would be very hard to steal. This way if a player quits the game their territory would errode slowly starting with the last placed flags, until finally the primary flag would cool off to the point that it could be stolen after a long duration (say 2-3 weeks). Hope to return after EA ends or there is a reset and some stability added. Thanks for the foundation of what seems to be a great game.
  19. i12 in the berthierfell key area. The ingame character is ‘scurvy skody’ Manute Bol Company. We had 4 small claims, only 2 of which very useable.
  20. Checked the event log. It was a very short time between my logging off and my entire base being stolen. So basically I log off at midnight my local time when the servers reboot. I tried to relog on but the servers took over an hour to get back up. It’s now 1:00 am and I gotta sleep and you know go to work tomorrow. The claim gets stolen at 3:00 am in the middle of the night after me being offline for only a couple hours at that point and having been constantly building on that claim for days. Awesome. I think that’s enough early access for me. I wanted a pve not a pvp experience. I got no problem with people stealing claims that are unused or have no activity but that’s not what this is. Having your entire in game experience taken away from you, many hours of work, will basically make most people walk away. That’s what I’m doing.
  21. My company ( 3 people ) were away on our boat last night when the servers rebooted for the latest patch. Since the servers were down for a while we were unable to log back in right away and had to sleep IRL. I logged back in this morning to find our main claim on the NA PVE server and all our structures all stolen along with pretty much everything we’ve done with the game since day2. We had been building and maintaining stuff on that claim right next to the flag so had assumed the recent activity would safeguard it. anyways that’s probably a couple hundred hours of gameplay combined for our small company. We had really been enjoying the game until now. But I think that’s it for me. I get that it’s early access, but a bug that allows another player to basically wipe out everything another company has done on a PVE server is a pretty big showstopper and pretty devastating.
