  1. i also imagine it will change the way fortresses are made as they will need to protect their booty. might even be player treasure ships traveling to carry the much earned booty to other locations. Armies of the damn serve a purpose in providing gold into the system. and NPC merchants provide a way to bleed gold out of the system. but players hold the booty. ARRR

One advantage of a gold metric is that companies will be raiding territory more than trying to steal territory. it also provide a reason to send diver down to wrecks to get the booty. not just for salvage. also more mutiny because of the gold that is no longer available to pay the crews. maybe they could provide a way for a raider to bribe the crews over tho their side.

  4. sometimes one single person, with the game available and the desire to help, and the understanding as to why it is important. can be much more rare.
  5. I get it. on PvP there definitely needs to be this competition. it is what drives the game. It is the PvE servers that are lacking in land. because there is no way to take land. the few grab what they can and anyone come late to the party is left hanging. more Land is needed for the PvE side. maybe more PvE servers would help. I agree that they need to be very careful going forward. I hope they come up with good and fair way to allow landowners to provide building space but prevent exploitation, not an easy task. I think they should focus on closing the exploits and balancing PvP. however there are a lot of PvE players and they shouldn't be ignored. I do like the idea of a mixed PvPvE server.
  6. But that isn't the issue. The ships, property and territory is still in the world and subject to removal by players. my suggestion isn't to save the territory or buildings. but to allow them to save their ships. so when they return they aren't starting from square one. But it seems i have strayed from the original topic. sorry folks.
  7. Games like this have a real hard time dealing with player that have to be away for extended amounts of time. unfortunately player are most likely going to have to except that they will need to start over if they leave for more than a few weeks.
  8. your assuming someone is always available. not sorted. but also not an easy fix.
  9. The big problem is there isn't enough land. They have made Land a far too rare and precious resource. the need to expand the map or open more servers to accommodate the population. I am not saying they should make sure each player has their own island, but they definitely need to provide more options to allow smaller groups and solo players a chance at gaining a small piece of territory somewhere. There needs to be some limits. Fair enough, There is a lot of complaining. not just from solo players. I agree the game should not be catered to solo play specifically. But having no chance at all is just not acceptable for anyone. the game should not be dominated by a few large groups to the Exclusion of everyone else.
  10. It's a pirate game. the only real measure of a company should be GOLD.
  11. I think they should have an option to de-spawn your ships and characters to offline storage. can't help you with territory much, but while you ships are offline they are removed from the world. The ships is what this game is supposed to be about anyway. This would have to be a limited option with a large kooldown, say once you have re-spawned your ship for active play it can't be de-spawned again for a couple of weeks. It would be intended for long forays away from the game. Also to prevent abuse the de-spawned ships would only remain offline for a few months then be deleted. Or perhaps allow a website check in that wouldn't require actually entering the game. This would cover long term issues where the player is away from the game for a long time but intend to return. Finally when it is time to re-spawn the player would be placed on their ship which would be out at sea or at a re-spawn harbor in a free-port zone.
  12. I agree. playing solo is and will always be difficult. I am mostly referring to the many accusations that solo player should go play somewhere else. Also Land claiming should not be locked out for the solo player. of course in PvP it is inevitable that a solo player would not be able to compete with a large group. Land claiming for the solo player will be very difficult but it isn't impossible. Holding that ground may be nearly impossible. especially in PvP.
  13. Many people seem to have confused Solo Play with Isolationist Play. Solo Players want to: 1. Plant their own flag. 2. Build their own base of operations. 3. Build their own ships. 4. Sail their own ships. 5. negotiate their own contracts. 6. Make their own trades. 7. Fight their own fights. They are not looking to avoid interaction with others. They just want to do it on their own and share those accomplishments with their friends. An Isolationist player doesn't want to interact with another player in any way and is content to play single player.
  14. while we are at it the medium sail should require 2 crew and the large sail should require 4 crew. furl an unfurl speed should be based on how many crew are assigned with less crew equal to slower speed. but what is realism.
  15. rattlesnake to. lost our level 47 bear to a level 1 rattlesnake. because it glitch through a wall and up to our second level. which is 2 wall heights above the ground foundation.
  16. The Sea Anchor... This crafted anchor allows any ship to anchor at sea but it has a limited durability. Once it expires the ship is cast adrift and is vulnerable to wind weather and ship decay.
  17. Gold will run out, Food will be eaten or spoil. then crew will mutiny. long before 4 weeks is over.
  18. No additional. 7 days from when you last provided food and payment. since you need to be logged in to do this, then this timer runs simultaneously to the claim upkeep timer. does not add to it.
  19. I ..like this to. and this is one mechanic that works on both PvP and PvE. it would definitely curb the land rush.

  21. ok, that seems to match up with what i was seeing. My 5 flag claim on my island seemed to only count as 1 claim. that's why I asked the question. Thank you.
