  1. Because they aren't actually checking the claims, they just see a big red circle and turn their ship around. We talk to them all day on our grid and will flat-out tell them which ones are stealable right now if they aren't dicks about it in General.
  2. If you think there's a "limited amount of land" on PVE servers you're high as fuck or don't play your own game, there are hundreds of stealable claims right now from people who haven't been on since Day 1, let alone a three-day timer. I have a 5 day vacation coming up from the 12th-17th and sleeping in my own claim apparently isn't going to be good enough to hold my own land even though I've played 473 hours since release? Here's a thought -- active time spent on a claim contributes to bonus upkeep. Inactive players/unused claims wouldn't benefit from a basic run-through, but would still be reset to a three-day. Claims that are used often would stack a ton of extra time over time, making them harder to take. This isn't really a hard concept to work out and I'm not sure why your team struggles so much with basic gameplay/balance concepts.
  3. You have to invest resources to move/take land in PVE, too. Making a boat that can make the trip, moving your items/tames/etc., time it takes to scout stealable/good land, this isn't a PVE vs PVP thing, it's a "some islands are better than others because it's the nature of the game" thing.
  4. The restrictions between node types aren't "pointless," they're part of what encourages travel and makes having a 225 grid map even make sense in the first place. Some places are better than others. Some islands are more valuable than others, and that makes them worth using resources to fight for. Etc., etc.
  5. Clearly never farmed a Straw/Hemp field with a bear vs. farming cotton in the tundra.
  6. Or do what the rest of us do and trade the excessive amount you get from that one node type in at Freeports if you need variety for a recipe.
  7. Not really that limited to say "you have to be using the right kind of node to make it worthwhile." A bit like complaining that an elephant isn't a good wood farmer because all you're hitting is the Bamboo plants.
  8. Wrong, wrong wrong. Bear is 100% the best thatch farmer in the game, but you have to have ground-thatch piles, like the orange leaves. Can get several stacks in a single swipe.
  9. Yeah, we have people doing that on our island too. I have two claims that overlap each other, these pencildicks came in last night and literally put one twenty feet from both and somehow didn't get the "there's an enemy claim here you can't do that try inside the claim" message. Look at this bullshit, lmao. The green on the grass maybe fifty feet away from me is one of my claims, as is the green line down on the left. The flag I'm standing beside is the one they placed without being told "there's a nearby claim you can't do that" Their claim overlaps halfway into both of mine now, including my stone gates up ahead. ????? Dumb, broken shit.
  10. Who cares? Clever use of gameplay mechanics doesn't mean "let's make the grind for wood 400% worse than it currently is and fuck over everyone who traded for/sailed for and tamed and returned/etc an elephant." Smarter fixes for this would've been: Diminishing returns on repairs within a certain timeframe to the same plank/part Increasing cooldown on repairs within a certain timeframe to the same plank/part Not making the entire grind to GET the ship in the first place significantly worse and making grinding materials for bases/gates/etc even more obnoxious than it already is.
  11. The elephant thing is the game-breaking one for me, too many changes in the direction of making things more tedious and less fun for fake longevity, retroactively makings time investments like taming useless, etc. The FoY thing is only interesting because of the "permanent stats buff" you get for doing it over 90, a bit like a Prestige system. Depending on how severe the "stat debuff" is for being 90+, it could be either an interesting gameplay mechanic or a total fucking annoyance.
  12. So in the process of calling her out for calling attention to her being female, you felt the need to say "us female" ... Y'all are a mess.
  13. Another dipshit change from a clueless dev team re: balance. Is this a pirate game or fucking Minecraft? Why intentionally and repeatedly make things MORE tedious and retroactively devalue things with time invested in owning them to begin with (tames)? Not doing yourselves any favors with these anti-fun anti-logic changes.
  14. Shipyards shouldn't stop resources in ANY radius anyway, they're required to be fully in the water, it makes no sense that they block trees on nearby land.
  15. Our company message is literally "Taxation is theft, and we are thieves." 30% btw
  16. Dumb take. It makes even MORE sense in PVE, since in PVP if you don't want someone taking your resources, you just shoot them. That's not possible on PVE, so there needs to be some downside to farming on property that belongs to other people.
  17. The taxes are the cost for making me wait for a resource respawn on my own property. Go farm your own land if you want it for free. Don't have the same resources as me? Sucks, but that's why I grabbed the plots I got, you don't just get to walk on my shit and inconvenience me for free dummy.
  18. We have a large but relatively empty base on C11 we could let you use for this. Two stories, already surrounded by Large Stone Gates, only things in it right now are a smithy, loom and two chests. We claimed it to bridge the gap between two of our claims and for tax reasons, but don't actively use it. No charge/strings/weird stipulations or whatever outside of our normal taxation rate on that land and it not being permanent, as we're eventually planning to turn it into stables, but that's not in the near future.
  19. This is the laziest and most idiotic "fix" I've seen in a game in a long time. All they had to do was make it so that anchored boats aren't affected by weight or crew limits until anchors are raised. In the current system, you can't even claim abandoned ships on PVE weeks after their last use, and worse, taxi services/sea trades/sea rescues/etc are all affected.
  20. We'd occasionally climbing pick over his walls to see if we could still hear him snoring in the same place.
  21. There was a plot beside us where the guy had been inside sleeping practically since Day 3 that we just got yesterday, so. A while, but does eventually happen.
  22. They fixed an exploit with Prying Eyes where it would remain active for the last half-second or so of looking in someone's inventory and you could grab items by holding down T and mousing over them quickly in that last half-second.
  23. Oh look, another Lion that spawned inside a base and killed me in my sleep again, completely different base on a completely different part of the island. Fix your shit "durrrrr maybe deres a gap in ur base and he got inside somehow" no, spawns in your game are just fucking broken, this is a completely closed off wall on both sides.
  24. Previous to the 10.0 patch, anyone on PVE or PVP servers could steal items from your locked and pin-coded chests with the Prying Eyes skill. The timeout period for Prying Eyes ended while the inventory screen was still open, allowing a (very) brief period of time where things could be dropped or transferred. I imagine they didn't want to mention this in their fixes because of the outrage it would cause for even being allowed to exist in the first place, but figured y'all might want to know.
  25. The tame nerf was way, way too much and a kneejerk reaction to a non-problem. Some idiot streamer running into death over and over again with no strategy didn't warrant making time-invested tames nearly worthless against any group of wild animals larger than 3. The health nerf alone was too much, let alone nerfing the damage on top of it. Absolutely stupid. A 25% increased damage from PVP sources would've been more than enough to balance whatever perceived inconsistency there was. Now they feel like sure liabilities even bringing them out to farm resources. It's fucking dumb. Zero concept of balance, again, from this dev team.
